    I keep seeing Ms. Allemand’s successful suicide described as “an attempt.”

    Did the definition of “attempt” change when I wasn’t looking?

    She actually didn’t manage to off herself with the rope; they turned off the life support in the hospital after determining she was brain-dead. [Insert joke about reality stars here]

    Yeah, I thought the same thing when I read it. It is not just an “attempt”. Do you think her C.O.D. on the death certificate will read “Life support removed”? No, it will say “death by self-inflicted strangulation”.

    Which is actually a pretty rare way for a woman to commit suicide. She was obviously serious about it. You have to wonder why: she was beautiful, her boyfriend was NBA player Ryan Anderson, she had (apparently) a decent career. Wonder what was missing?

    I have a few solid hunches, but this is Stacy’s blog, and he’s a damn-sight bigger expert on analyses of “modern relationships” than I am.
