A week ago, the phrase “accused sex offender Kaitlyn Ashley Hunt” wasn’t something I thought about. But until last Wednesday, I’d never heard of accused sex offender Kaitlyn Ashley Hunt.

For some reason — beats me! — her supporters want accused sex offender Kaitlyn Ashley Hunt to become nationally famous, and I was minding my own business on May 22 when somebody on Twitter posted a link to Matthew Philbin’s article at Newsbusters: “Left Defends Accused Sex Offender Because She’s Lesbian.” Wow.

That got my attention, and my editorial duties at ViralRead were set aside while I began digging down on this story, discovering a myth built on lies — The Story Too Good to Be True — crafted to portray accused sex offender Kaitlyn Ashley Hunt as a symbol of victimhood:

Supporters of the “Free Kate” movement say Hunt is a victim of homophobia who “made a mistake.” Her lawyer Julia Graves says Hunt is a “model citizen,” but video surfaced over the weekend that would appear to contradict that claim.
“Beat her f–king ass, Emily! Beat her ass! Get that bitch!” the girl reported to be Kaitlyn Hunt shouts in the video showing two girls fighting on the beach. . . .
The video, which Viral Read staff were able to convert to YouTube format, was first posted Saturday at a Tumblr site by a teenager who says he is a Sebastian High classmate. The anonymous teen said “that the way the media is portraying [Hunt] is far from reality. … she is not a good person and is not ‘innocent’. She … constantly starts high school drama, gets in school suspensions, and is overall not well liked at all.” As proof that the girl yelling on the video is actually Hunt, the anonymous poster referred to the arrest record which describes her as having three tattoos, including a bird on her right shoulder. The tattoo appears briefly in the video at the 14-second mark . . .

    I know the publicity thing is her supporters, but I am getting so very tired of reading about this gal.

    I’m actually beginning to feel the teensiest bit sorry for her. Not sorry enough to excuse what she did or suggest she doesn’t deserve whatever punishment the court system gives her, but sorry for her the way I began to feel sorry for the Steubenville boys.
    It’s beginning to seem pretty obvious that this girl, as those boys, has not had proper parenting and adult role models, and has not been taught right from wrong and why it matters. As a result, she’s not fit to be allowed to roam free in society, at least not without a few years of remedial training. I suspect if/when everything comes out about her, we’re going to feel that her parents deserve whatever punishment is meted out to her and more.
    I think there may also be something to the suggestion that she’s been a victim of abuse herself. As someone pointed out on another thread, in most of her pictures, the plastic smile which doesn’t reach her eyes actually makes sense if you assume that she’s actually frightened.

    She appears to be more sexual addict/predator opportunist than strictly lesbian. Given her more aggressive, wildly inappropriate behavior, rather then feeling sorry for her, it might be a good time to look into babysitting jobs she might have held or other close contact with younger family members of both sexes or neighborhood children prior to this . That neither she, nor her parents think she’s done anything wrong says there may certainly be a history and other victims.

    Feel SORRY for her? Heh. She turned down a plea offer that let her walk and gave her a chance to avoid registering as a sex offender (if she could convince the judge it comes under Florida’s “Romeo and Juliet” law). But noooooooooo, she demands acquittal, exoneration, a merit badge and a Flukin’ reality show (working title: “Finger Thy Neighbor”).

    Add to that, she’s recruited the Left, the most despicable subset of human beings on the planet, the miscreants without morals or principles, the foul spawn of Satan himself upon Earth, to be her defenders.

    Feel SORRY for her? Not even when she is 45 and wrinkly and sitting on a barstool in a lesbian bar, chain-smoking cigarettes and telling everyone who will listen how she “used to be somebody.”

    The teen years can be horrible. Government schools only seem to make them worse. It might be a good idea to keep kids in the same, smaller settings they had in grade school rather than cram them into the big, behemoths known as Middle School and High School.

    It’s funny how they have so many anti-bullying policies now, too. Point your finger and say “bang!” and your out of there. Poke your finger where you shouldn’t, and your a hero to the left.

    Why I do feel a bit for her is that my guess would be that that advice came from people who are using her as a cudgel to peddle politics. In other words as an opportunity to destroy the lives of her, the victim, and if they’re successful numerous others.

    Exactly.
    As it is, whatever the cause, the girl would seem to be a perfect little menace to society, and as such, society needs to protect itself from her. That her being a menace may not be (totally) her fault doesn’t change how we have to react to it.

    I had one guy tell me he was turning me into the FBI for posting the pic from her sister’s twitter proudly displaying the bruised knuckles from this fight. Getting reported a lot, but so far not shut down. If they shut me down there will be hell to pay. I have not violated any rule.

    I had an interesting thought – this fight apparently took place on May 5th or 6th (according to the bruised knuckle pic her sister proudly tweeted) which was AFTER Kate was arrested. Doesn’t the fact that this ADULT was cheering on a minor beating another minor mean she violated some kind of terms of bail? Aren’t you supposed to stay out of illegal situations (like say, assault)? BTW, I glanced over the sisters twitter account yesterday, and omg – sex obsessed and FOUL mouthed (or should I say foul fingered since she was typing – no pun intended – or maybe it was). I can only imagine how disgusting Kate’s twitter must have been. Sadly, MLE’s twitter account is now private. Ironically, I glanced over the BF’s account too and he does a fair amount of gay bashing. I only wish I could remember his “name”.
