Terrorists Fear Him

Cowards who strike against the innocent to advance ancient hatreds and fanatical agendas have one certain enemy in the world, who will courageously seek them out and destroy the evil doers. Above all, this is the enemy that terrorists fear most . . .
THE AMERICAN SOLDIER!
It’s been more than three months since our 20-year-old recruit shipped out of Fort Meade. The letter from his captain says the “Blue Cord” ceremony begins at 0900 hours Thursday:
The Blue Cord ceremony marks your Soldier’s reception of the Infantry Cord, which he will wear on all of his dress uniforms and is your Soldier’s official acceptance into the Infantry.
You may recall the “HOOAH! Update,” and if you’ve been following my Twitter updates, you know that the boy has upheld the family tradition, scoring Expert in marksmanship — indeed, the best marksman in his platoon — and is among the top recruits in his unit in physical fitness. He is, however, still 20 years old and still a McCain, so he manages to do everything with a sense of humor.
[DELETED]
But that’s my Bob, and if he ever gets the chance to go kill some terrorists — which he is quite eager to do — they should know that he’ll be laughing at their dead asses after he blows them away.
As noted when he left Fort Meade, he’s 18X, so there’s a lot more training ahead, beginning with jump school, where he intends to get his Airborne qualification. At any rate, my wife and our family are going to attend the Blue Cord Ceremony, and spend the weekend with our Soldier.
It’s a long drive, so there won’t be any more blogging today. HOOAH!

God bless your son and all the fine young men and women in our military.

SAW is my favorite, good choice.
April 24th, 2013 @ 9:28 am
Congratulations. Glad to know he is out there protecting us. Thank you for his service.

Try not to embarrass him! π
GOD bless him! π

Congratulations, McCain family! America is blessed with yet another fine soldier.

I always preferred the M60, and subsequent variants, even if it was heavier. I prefer 7.62mm to 5.56mm.

Ceremony? Ceremony? I remember when we passed out of Basic and AIT, all we got was a cheap pair of brogans, a packet of ca’tridges, and they shoved us on a cattle car down to the Vicksburg lines, by cracky…
April 24th, 2013 @ 9:57 am
The SAW shoots well, even if it is a squirrel round. But the M60 requires some serious preventive maintenance, at least in the earlier models I used, and it just didn’t like to get hot. I hear they’ve fixed that latter some.

Congratulations!

Haec protegimus.
April 24th, 2013 @ 10:32 am
The 60 isn’t in the inventory anymore. They went to its original competitor the FN MAG which was actually a more reliable piece, but it was designed and built in Belgium and we couldn’t possibly use one of those inferior furrin made weapons.

Most everything was more reliable than the old M60A1. But from what I hear, haven’t shot one in years, they’re up to the E4 with a fensy-pents composite barrel that resolves the heat and sustained fire issues.
Which is good because I saw guys killed at Benning when a trainee freaked out at an M60 cookoff on the range.

They can if they miss. One rear sight > buncha wasted bullets.
April 24th, 2013 @ 11:39 am
May God watch over this fine young man and keep him safe.
April 24th, 2013 @ 11:52 am
Seconded.

And 3 days of hardtack. Don’t forget that!
April 24th, 2013 @ 1:44 pm
That’s the M240. I was reliving the days of my youth when I typed that, and forgot about the new design.
April 24th, 2013 @ 2:41 pm
Please thank him for his service for us. Godspeed!
April 24th, 2013 @ 3:22 pm
Only thing funnier’n trying to eat unsoaked hardtack was teaching them Reb POW’s to eat grits. They insisted they were for scouring musket barrels…
April 24th, 2013 @ 3:32 pm
Congratulations to you both!
And right you are. Which is probably why this admin is pushing to make sure veterans are disarmed, and trying to target them as terrorists. Something about pointing fingers?

Thirded…is that a word? Regardless, congratulations to your son on his new career.

If he wants in a fight, he should seek Ranger School and Regiment. Most kinetic now is by SOF units. If he can get into Ranger School, skip separate Airborne now because he will do that anyway as precursor to Ranger School. He’s also eligible to apply to West Point and any of the other four national service academies so long as he is no older than 22 on R-Day (Reception Day at West Point, comparable at the others). West Point, Navy and Air Force maintain one year Math and English intensive prep schools for enlisted qualifying for the academy. West Point, at least, is homeschooler friendly.

What a handsome lad! Enjoy the weekend with your son.
April 24th, 2013 @ 6:09 pm
Congrats to him.

Quatlooed.
Bravo.

Awesome!! God bless him!! Enjoy your weekend!!

You raised him right, Stacy! Congrats to you and the Mrs., and to your soldier son. Hooah! — and Oorah!
April 25th, 2013 @ 12:43 am
Second that.
April 25th, 2013 @ 2:14 am
A fine young soldier. I feel safer already. Prayers and thanks to all the McCain horde.
April 25th, 2013 @ 5:46 am
Sex!
April 25th, 2013 @ 6:33 am
Seventhted!
April 25th, 2013 @ 12:08 pm
Bullshit. May God watch over this fine young man and make him victorious, distinguish him as a hero. One doesn’t join a war-fighting organization and then ask God to act as if one didn’t. Keep him courageous, obedient, resourceful, timely, creative, loyal and persevering. Pray for that, if you really mean to pray for a Soldier.
April 25th, 2013 @ 12:52 pm
Congratulations, and may he return safely every time he is deployed.
April 25th, 2013 @ 2:14 pm
Ah, the armchair warrior, always so brave with someone else’s son.
April 25th, 2013 @ 2:54 pm
Moved by acclamation!
April 25th, 2013 @ 6:46 pm
Stogie, that was just a wee bit gratuitous. Re-read what David said. He’s not being an armchair warrior, just suggesting how to pray for the young man.
April 25th, 2013 @ 6:48 pm
Are you aware of what MOS 18X is? He’ll be going through the Green Beret selection course. What he will see is every bit as hard as Ranger School, and will see far more specialty training than he would as a Ranger.
April 25th, 2013 @ 6:52 pm
My Army NG unit in TN had some 60A2s. The only time I fired one was in OCS. I later got a chance to fire the MAG (before the M240 was coming in) and from a handling standpoint was not any better, IMHO. It was a more reliable weapon, though, but you aren’t going to see that in a 15 minute bout with the piece.

RSM, this is what separates middle America from our elite leaders. We serve in the military, they don’t, yet those assholes are the ones who often send our men and women into harms way. Both of the past Democratic Presidents failed to serve in the US military in any capacity.
Therefore, I propose that the US Constitution be amended as follows:
28th Amendment: Qualification for President amended to read:
Every candidate for President must have served in the US military, National Guard or reserve forces.
