Friday, I described a complete blackout by the mainstream media in regard to reports that a 29-year-old woman died after a late-term abortion at the clinic of the notorious Dr. LeRoy Carhart.
In particular, I called out the Washington Post and the Baltimore Sun, because this clinic — run by a sort of celebrity abortionist — is in Germantown, Maryland, just 20 miles from the nation’s capital. Trust me, if some nut with a gun had opened fire on Carhart’s clinic, the Post and the Sun would devote front-page coverage to the story. If a woman dies after a botched abortion . . . eh, not so much.
Jeff Quinton reports that the Washington Post has now broken the mainstream media embargo of this story. The Post‘s Dan Morse reports:
The Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the Montgomery County Police Department are investigating the death of a woman who died at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital on Thursday — days after she was believed to have started an abortion procedure at a controversial clinic in Germantown. . . .
In this case, the 29-year-old woman, who has not been identified, died Thursday after being taken to Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, according to local and state officials.
The circumstances that led to her death are unclear. Carhart and clinic officials could not be reached. . . .
“At this point, there is no indication of any criminal activity in this case,” said Capt. Paul Starks, a spokesman for the Montgomery County Police Department.
OK, it’s only a 350-word item in the Metro section, but it’s something. Still nothing from the Baltimore Sun, the New York Times, USA Today or the Associated Press, but at least now one major news organization has grudgingly acknowledged that a 29-year-old woman has died after being treated at the clinic where “Doctor Death” was willing to perform an abortion in the 33rd week of pregnancy.
Yes, I said the 33rd week — eight months pregnant — which is actually legal in Maryland. So maybe “there is no indication of any criminal activity,” as the police spokesman said, but there is butchery and horror and evil. Lots and lots of evil. Also, a dead 29-year-old woman.
We mustn’t forget the #WarOnWomen.

I know people who were born before the thirty-third week. Pray tell, why couldn’t she have delivered her baby? Is there really any medical reason why that could not have happened?

One of my best friends was born well before the thirty-third week in 1961 and survived.
Forget the #WarOnWomen hashtage, how about #TheCultureOfDeath?

How about we have more conservative women asking questions like this, and change the #WarOnWomen to #WarByWomen?

If the baby had been wanted, it would’ve been saved. Sadly, that’s the criteria for the value of life.

I wish I could find sympathy for the woman, but I can’t.

My twin grandsons were born at 34 weeks … they are now 10 years old, healthy as horses (and eat as much). This is so tragic on so many levels.

It took her 7 months to decide to have an abortion? That in itself seems ??? jeesh, I can’t even think of a word to describe how unbelievable that “mulling over that choice for 7 months” seems.

My son was born at 34 weeks, he was already 5 1/2 pounds and he was healthy enough to leave the hospital with me the next day. This is such a tragedy on so many levels. He’s now 18 and a senior in high school about to chose a college, and only now really beginning his life. To have ended it before it even began is a crime.

So sad on so many levels. I’m 33wks pregnant & heard about this at my baby shower yesterday. I live 10 minutes from where the woman died, 20 from where the tragedy began. Didn’t read about it in the paper or see it on the news, but by word of mouth. This goes so far beyond the women’s rights issue. Even supporters of abortion should see the tragedy behind this. Then again, if they admit abortions are dangerous, I suppose it would affect their agenda. I hope this dr is investigated. I hope his face is plastered on tv. I hope his career is over & that his days of murdering babies and women come to an end very soon. Sadly, I doubt any of it will happen.

Saw a headline at the Telegraph while peeking at columns by Delingpole and Con Coughlin. Evidently Ireland is “legalizing” abortion (story from December 2012). Ostensibly to end the “backalley” kind, I guess. There are serious hazards to choosing to end a life.
But the other thing I saw was coverage of our future here, under Obamacare. First was that they are going to massively increase the public debt by guaranteeing that no one will be forced to pay more than £75,000 for care of the elderly (hardest hit, those who can’t afford to pay the £75,000).
Second is that the quality of government healthcare has led to a Hospital sued over children left neglected and dying on wards.
I’m certain we all desperately look forward to having government employees monitoring our critical care stays in government-run hospitals. We could never trust something so vital to greedy, profit-seeking corporations.
