Is Senator Menendez Doomed?

Posted on | February 6, 2013 | 30 Comments

Short answer: Hell to the yes!

Two FBI sources have told The Daily Caller that the bureau’s inquiry into  Democratic New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez is now based in New Jersey, not  Miami. One added that pressure is mounting from the highest levels of the  Justice Department to pursue the investigation.
The change of focus away from the bureau’s Miami field office indicates that  the government is focused primarily on Sen. Menendez — and not on his longtime  donor Dr. Salomon Melgen, as political observers have speculated.
Menendez is embroiled in a scandal sparked by allegations that he slept with  underage prostitutes in the Dominican Republic.

(Hat-tip: Viral Read.) There are rumors that powerful Democrats are now working to hasten the downfall of Menendez. Why do you think mainstream reporters are getting the greenlight for stories like this one by Shane Goldmacher of National Journal?

When Robert Menendez arrived in the U.S. Senate in 2006, he was a relative pauper in a chamber often called a millionaires’ club. The New Jersey Democrat ranked 97th out of 100 senators in terms of his personal wealth, according to financial records filed that year and compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics.
So Menendez’s decision last month to use his personal funds to reimburse a prominent political contributor $58,500 for two flights to the Dominican Republic came at a major cost. The repayment amounts to between 32 percent and 87 percent of the assets Menendez reported holding in bank accounts and stock, according to his latest financial-disclosure form, which was filed last year.
Menendez repaid Florida eye doctor and political donor Salomon Melgen only after his free flights aboard Melgen’s plane became public and the subject of a Senate ethics complaint.

Attempts by certain liberal journalists (e.g., Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post) to minimize the seriousness of this scandal will prove ineffectual, because if Senator Menendez tries to hang on, it might inspire greater scrutiny to other politicians connected to Dr. Melgen, and those other politicians don’t need that scrutiny.

Say hello to the underside of the Democrat bus, Senator Menendez.

Everybody lies about sex, it’s no big deal, yada yada yada… except when it turns out that the story isn’t really about sex, the rats scuttle away. I always knew the sex was only a distraction to the real deal, the hookers were a quid pro quo, and now the other shoe is about to drop.

The FBI kicks their Menendez investigation into high gear, and moves it from Miami to Newark…

Now that all this has come to light, the highest levels of the Justice Department are looking at you Bob. Why do you suppose that is?…

Sadly, you’re likely right. Christie seems concerned with burnishing his moderate credentials because he’s heard the way to win a national race as a Republican is to dump on the GOP and piss off the base.

It’s never about the sex. It’s about keeping the light off everything else the perverted bastid was doing OUT of bed. With Clinton, it was more important to the Dems that we believe he’s a pig because they believe we’re all pigs, rather than he was a sitting Democratic President who had been convicted of lying under oath.

If the American public sees the hypocrisy and dishonesty of hacks like Cizilla and virtually every Democratic officeholder, the brief Menendez interlude will have served some purpose.

But if the American public were intelligent enough to see such things, would they have reelected a bumbling, lying incompetent like Obama? Mencken was right.

That would not surprise me. Kris Kristiekreme is easier than most Dominican hookers. Of course Bob Menendez can bounce back with organizing sex tours to the Dominican Republic. When it is cold in New Jersey, it is only a short flight to get warm.

Mencken is almost always right. Which is depressing even though I like Mencken.

It’s been the way to win the GOP nomination since 2008. It’s too bad Establishment GOP pols don’t want to actually get elected president.

This is just going to get more and more fun the longer this drags out. We’re all doomed with Obama as President anyways, so it’s good to see one of the bastards on the other side get his doom just a bit sooner.

If Menendez goes it will be a temporary partial twofer. His hateful daughter will no longer benefit from his political power and will in that way be damaged. But, since leftists take care of their own, it won’t be fatal to her personal “brand”. She may be nice to look at, but she’s buzzard puke on the inside.

If he’s as ballsy as he likes people to believe Christie will pick Tony Soprano. Enough with the pikers, New Jersey deserves the best.

I would argue the point that Senator Menendez is not doomed. The accusers do not speak English and are in another country. The powers that be in the Dominican Republic probably have other priorities to pursue save that they now have a chip to use to prevent enforcement of the shipping contract. If the accusers attorney and the Senators attorney make a deal I don’t see how he can be convicted of anything. Menendez may have a political popularity obstacle to overcome but history tells me people have overcome other obstacles successfully.

Remember when the feminazi wing of the Democrat Party opposed sex tourism and demanded punitive laws against Americans participating in it while in foreign countries?

Yeah, that’s when the issue could be used to push Republicans around. Now it’s time to strap on your kneepads and pucker up girls, or lie back and think of your Democrat Party!
