Wisconsin Shooting Rampage: Suspected Gunman Reportedly Among 3 Dead UPDATE: Killer Radcliffe Houghton Signed Scott Walker Recall Petition

Posted on | October 21, 2012 | 25 Comments

Details are emerging in the shooting at a spa near the Brookfield Square Mall in the suburbs of Milwaukee. The suspected gunman has been identified as 45-year-old Radcliffe F. Haughton, and police say Haughton was found dead inside the Azana Salon & Spa on North Moorland Road.

Via Memeorandum.

UPDATE: Dan Riehl had an early builletin, but then updated with a second post under this headline:

Wisconsin shooter was unemployed
estranged husband of spa hair stylist
who had recently left him

Further details from (of all places) the London Daily Mail:

Haughton is estranged from his wife who works as a hair stylist at the salon where the shooting took place. . . .
Court records show that a judge issued a order of protection against Haughton just three days ago on October 18, hinting that there was a credible threat against the estranged wife.
His estranged wife has two daughters, one of whom works at the spa and was whisked away by police after the shooting.

So, an ordinary domestic dispute has turned into a headline-making atrocity and — because the gunman is not a Tea Party “extremist” — liberals will be unable to find any convenient political “moral to the story.” Nothing to see here, folks. Move along.

UPDATE: Thanks to Ben Dolfin on Twitter for the tip that the gunman, Radcliffe Houghton, signed the union-supported petition to recall Wisconsin Republican Gov. Scott Walker.

Why do I doubt that this fact will appear in any MSM news stories?

Just a tawdry domestic violence gone awry story, no crisis to use to distract from the foundering of this administration and the eclipse of the Obama star …

Just because the shooter is not officially a member of the Tea Party doesn’t mean Sarah Palin isn’t morally culpable for this crime.

    Plus, uh… binders!

Do other conservatives really fail to see the significance of the killer signing the recall petition? When I RTd the blog, someone replied: “Pretty irrelevant though isn’t it?” Um, no.

My condolences to the families impacted and to the survivors. RIP to the victims who died.

And thank you Ben Dolfin and RSM for pointing out who shooter Radcliffe Houghton followed politically. It should not matter, but unfortunately the left likes guilt by association. Well this guy is one of theirs.

Yes, that would be bad. What would be catastrophic, though, would be if Lawrence O’Donnell threatened to beat me up.

Because that fact has nothing to do with the shooting.

It’s kind of irrelevant, because his political ideology has nothing to do with the shooting. Irrelevant.

Actually, there was probably a movie about Muhammad that incited him to violence.

Via the Twitter feed of one of WTMJ-TV’s reporters – “Suspect RADCLIFFE HAUGHTON hit with court order of protection 10/18, ordered to turn firearms over to sheriff.”

Odds that this little fact that Haughton wasn’t supposed to have a gun will appear in the local paint-catcher – 16,000,000,000,000-1, considering the fact the only Jentinel mention of a firearm restriction attached to the order was on their online screencap of an online court database.

Right, As opposed to if the guy, say, had once lived next door to somebody whose cousin once drove by a Tea Party rally. In which case it would tar all conservatives, Republicans, libertarians, small government activists as hateful racist misogynist murderers.

Only because the guy is on the left. Totally irrelevant. In fact, we’ll probably have Obama make a special speech in which he tells the guy “You didn’t shoot that.”

“Because that fact has nothing to do with the shooting”.
Right – except for what Steve S. says below. It is the insane left-wing bias of the MFM that makes almost any story subject to this kind of criticism.

Larry O’Donnell Jr. was nothing but a smirking wuss of a entitled punk jerk when he was a young kid in Boston. His great father had to save his sorry punk arse a number of times – especially when some cops kicked his arrogant butt because his old man was waging war against some rogue Boston cops [Senior was a former Boston police officer who became a lawyer].

His father – a conservative, BTW – must be rolling in his grave at his youngest son’s false and pathetic machismo.
