Stacy being bedeviled by the site’s annual DNS renewal, and Smitty being somewhere betwixt der Oder und der Rhein, it’s left to me to keep Friday from being a joyless, postless day.

    And here I figured TOM’s unavailability must be part of the commie/pinko/Kimberlin/et al plot that RSM’s always obsessing about. How is it possible that your simple explanation of Stacy forgetfullness and ineptitude might be true? There just has to be a more sinister explanation.
    And what about the mysterious silence over the denouement of the Kia timing belt escapade? Are we sure that some jacked up leftwinger didn’t fool with it, just to make Stacy forget to renew the site’s DNS registration???
    Ya never know . . .

    It’s not a registration issue, as I understand it. I believe they must have changed servers, and we’re watching the DNS system propagate the association with theothermccain.com and whatever the new IP address is.

    Interestingly, last year I had DNS problems. This year, it’s been fine (Verizon FiOS DNS servers).

    Your primary and secondary DNS servers both resolve to the same IP address. You should have at least one secondary DNS server on a different network. Also, the server listed as the DNS server in whois periodically stops responding to requests. It isn’t that DNS hasn’t propagated, it is that the DNS server listed in whois for your domain sometimes stops responding to DNS requests completely.
