UPDATE: Video Interview With ‘Hating Breitbart’ Director Andrew Marcus

TAMPA, Florida
This morning while I was on my way to the Media Filing Center here at the Republican National Convention, the story went viral that David Chalian, Washington bureau chief of Yahoo News, had been caught on an open microphone saying — in regard to the coincidence of the GOP convention and Hurricane Isaac — “They aren’t concerned at all . . . They are happy to have a party with black people drowning.”
There was no time for me to blog about that, because I had to rush to the world premiere screening of Hating Breitbart, the new documentary film directed by Andrew Marcus. And while I was watching that movie, Yahoo News fired David Chalian.
Adios, douchebag.
This is strictly a coincidence, of course, just as it is strictly a coincidence that the guy who exposed Chalian is Newsbusters founder Matthew Sheffield, who is featured prominently in Hating Breitbart.
An awful lot of coincidences happened in Andrew Breitbart’s life.
I mean, if you believe in “coincidences,” which I don’t.

[…] gets nailed. David Chalian forgot that all microphones should always be treated as if they were on. His was. Yahoo! fired him for his unguarded outburst (“They are happy to have a party with black […]

He posted an apology. Don’t think anyone in my timeline paid the slightest attention.

They did an autopsy. So while there are no coincidences, there is no evidence of anything more that terribly tragic bad luck.
I miss Breitbart. He would be tearing things up if he were here and driving the left completely bonkers.

I miss him. Let’s start a campaign to put him on Mount Rushmore. I’m dead serious.

I’m seeing a ramp-up in the “you Republicans are all vicious, hateful racist liars” attacks by trolls at a lot of right-side sites, and by the MSNBC types on TV. Just look at how off-the-rails Matthews has been lately.
It’s gonna get uglier over the next few weeks.

Psalms 2:1 seems appropriate here. 🙂

I miss him terribly, too, but the side of a perfectly good mountain is no place for human sculpture (sorry, I deplore Mount Rushmore, and Stone Mountain, GA too – not a question of patriotism, I just think carved mountains scream “HUBRIS”). His finest memorial, I think, would be to drive the Los Angeles Times into bankruptcy. That’d be a fitting monument, and in the city he loved best. In the meantime, let us enshrine him in our hearts and on our computer wallpaper. Psalm 63 always works for me:
1 (A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.) O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
3 Because thy loving kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:
6 When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.
7 Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
8 My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.
9 But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
10 They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes.
11 But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.

[…] Over at The American Spectator, Stacy McCain has up a review of the new documentary Hating Breitbart, which was premiered in Tampa yesterday. From the trailers I’ve seen and trusting in Stacy’s judgement as I do, I think this is film will be seen as a fitting tribute to our fallen hero [Stacy conducted a short interview with the film's directer, Andrew Marcus, yesterday and it can be seen here].
