Chick-Fil-A Not Exactly ‘Reeling From Backlash’ Against Common-Sense Attitude
Posted on | July 19, 2012 | 27 Comments
by Smitty
Let’s see if we can break this down:
- Chick-Fil-A is a business.
- Businesses (especially those whose owners build them on their own) rather fancy having customers.
- Practices which don’t lead to customers (homosexuality, Origenism, beastiality, whatever) merit rejection.
Anecdotally, the local Chick-Fil-A is wall-to-wall customers all the time.

Update: Daily Pundit links with what are, I guess, additional common-sense positions Chick-Fil-A could choose to espouse.

I am amused that a couple of my friends who are all about the gay rights and quite angry that Chick-fil-A does not agree still can’t bring themselves to forego the sweet tea and other culinary delights. Truly, the Lord works in mysterious ways. 🙂

Hypocrisy, they name is progressivism…
July 19th, 2012 @ 7:18 pm
While I appreciate the INTERNET, the “social networks” are little more than a communications infrastructure do double duty as an informal polling system.Â
So I’ll stick the true test: people voting with their wallets. And their feet.Â
And I’ll wait for the earning reports of Chick-Fil-A, and not take the word of CNN for how things are.
July 19th, 2012 @ 7:22 pm
I went there with my liberal sister yesterday. Asked her why she was willing to go there. She mumbled something about how if she’s willing to be seen with me, she obviously has no principles anyway, so why not?
Kidding. I didn’t ask her. I wanted to, but I was afraid to bring it up, in case it would make her change her mind and I wouldn’t get my sweet tea. I <3 CFA.

If I suddenly notice that the Chick-fil-A nearest my current abode lacks a crowd at lunchtime, I’ll know that the chain is hurting — but given the attitudes hereabouts, I don’t think it’ll be over this.
July 19th, 2012 @ 7:42 pm
Good for him! Â I hope it emboldens others to do the same thing. Â Why are we letting 2% of the population pervert the entire culture? Â Be sure to tell your local manager that you appreciate their stance. Â
July 19th, 2012 @ 7:46 pm
I’d say that since homosexuality reoccurs with each and every generation of humanity since the dawn of man……this isn’t eroding from the customer base.
That said..the business is certainly free to take whatever stance it wishes to…just as if a business spoke out against Christianity….and has to abide by the consequences.

Chik-fil-a is privately owned. They don’t don’t post earnings reports but are estimated to do over $4Billion in revenue per year.
July 19th, 2012 @ 8:00 pm
Anecdotally, I’ve never seen a Chick-Fil-A that *wasn’t* wall-to-wall customers. But yes, they’re famously privately owned, because when their founder was asked if he’d go public, he says there’s no way because the 1st thing the stockholders would do is fire him for being closed on Sundays.

Bravo, Dan Cathy!-A good comment and some good food products.

I’ve sworn off chicken anyway due to other current issues, so its a moot point with me.Â

July 20th, 2012 @ 8:17 am
I usually dread going to Chick-Fil-A. They’re always so crowded.
July 20th, 2012 @ 9:02 am
BAH! lol
July 20th, 2012 @ 9:10 am
Chick-Fil-A is goooood. So Chick-Fil-A doesn’t support aberrant sexual behavior . What’s that got to do with the price of tea in China? They make chicken sandwiches. I don’t think the owner is Catholic, in fact I think he is Southern Baptist (don’t quote me) so I don’t know how Origenism plays into this or what the big deal is about it. I’m totally not going to argue Christian dogma here as it is likened to arguing politics: everyone has their beliefs and opinions and there is little you can do to change them. I think Daily Pundit is trippin’. I’ve eaten at ‘pro-gay” venues and ‘not-so pro gay’ venues. I eat at these places because I’m hungry and don’t feel like cooking, not because of politics. Now if a company was discovered to be in support of say, burning babies or kicking old people  then I’d take umbrage and consequently go home and nuke my own burrito.

Most chickens today are fed constantly, stuffed with steroids, and not allowed to move. As a result they’ve developed a virulent strain of urinary tract infection that is resistant to most antibiotics. Granted, it affects mostly women, but who knows what else is going to turn up. Chicken raised the old fashioned way I have nothing against.
July 23rd, 2012 @ 3:47 pm
I love reading ignorance, and by ignorance I mean the people that support companies that support practices which have proven to do more harm than good. I salute both Boston, and Jim Henson’s company for the stance they are taking against Chick-A-Fil. Regardless of beliefs the company should have kept their opinions to themselves, because this could impact the franchise owners who may or may not share the opinion of the owner. The opinion is his, not the franchisees, Chick-A-Fil deserves the backlash, and busy or not when a mayor of a major city is blocking the company, and one of the biggest companies dedicated to entertainment of children pulls out, that is not good for the company.
