Save The ObamaCare Adrenalin For GOTV Efforts

Surveying the blogs, there is as much certainty about how to interpret Chief Justice Roberts after the fact as there was about the ObamaCare decision prior to issue. Clearly, John Roberts is a strong contender for the All-Time Shrewdest Judas award.
While we can all berate Roberts for not simply doing the minimal job, the question begins and ends with the American people, in November 2008 and November 2012. Note this clip of two ladies whose hotness is only exceeded by their excellent analysis:
While the analysis is worthwhile, I hope this weekend sees a shift away from fretting about Roberts and a renewed focus on getting the Court of Public Opinion arranged for the November opinion, which stands even more crucial.

But good advice Smitty.

Yeppers. We need to win the WH, and Congress. The start impeaching judges who refuse to do their jobs and insert their own political opinions inplace of teh law and constitution. Roberts can be first to go.
I don’t like Mittens, or the rest of the Progtastic GOP lead from teh rear gang, but we are going to have to vote for them, then hold a blow torch to their feet to make them do teh right thing. If they refuse, then it’s time to make sure they are done.
June 29th, 2012 @ 7:50 pm
That’s what I’ve been saying. Robert’s horrible ruling, which was terrible judicially and constitutionally, is good politically for the GOP. Romney and the GOP can toast Obama and the Dems on the notion that the Mandate, which was and still is unpopular, is a tax. O and the Donkeys didn’t want to campaign on Obamacare in 2010, and darn sure won’t want to now.
It gives Romney another quiver in his arsenal besides the economy. And, give it up to Romney, he’s not playing defense like McCain, but going hard at Obama.
June 29th, 2012 @ 7:50 pm
I hate to be a Debbie downer, but I might need a few days to feel positive again. My husband warned me the other night when I felt a little confident that it would be overturned. He said “be careful, the fight is for the long term, the Supreme Court has given us abortion, and no prayer in school, SS Medicaid and Medicare”. I guess he was right. He actually went to bed on Wed. night convinced the law would stand.
June 29th, 2012 @ 7:58 pm

I agree, but don’t be too confident in the GOP to do the right thing. They could have handled this months ago by bringing it to the floor each and every week. Many Americans are unaware of the “taxes” in the bill. They only know what the free stuff is. That is the sole fault of the GOP. They did not educate while they had the chance.

June 29th, 2012 @ 11:40 pm
Great advice as always Smitty. After the disappointment of the ruling, the Right really has no choice but to work through the political process. Roberts’ decision should serve as a motivator for conservatives and libertarians to commit themselves toward working throughout our political system (not just nationally but also locally and at the state level) to reinvigorate the movement towards limited government, traditional values and free market economics.
June 29th, 2012 @ 11:51 pm
The power to tax is the power to enslave.
For what are you willing to be a slave?
For what are you willing to enslave others?
Pass it on. Claim it as your own.
June 29th, 2012 @ 11:53 pm
I never did like prayer in public schools. The answer to that is to gut the communist school system.
June 29th, 2012 @ 11:56 pm
And Smitty – excellent advice. Let us make 2010 look like a Democrat love in.
June 30th, 2012 @ 12:41 am
in arlington county va we did the lord’s prayer and pledge of allegiance every school morning
i loved it
when we moved to maryland a heathen people’s republic they dropped the lord’s prayer but we still said the pledge
only God knows what the do early now, i suppose sexting their buddies in homeroom
sigh

Everything.

June 30th, 2012 @ 1:38 am
In November the American people get to decide whether to entrust the government with what will very soon be fully 20% of our entire economy. There will be no vague promises – there is a bill to judge and many of the rules have been issued (although by no means all, and they are not guaranteed permanent) – so it’s not a matter of what voters might imagine might be the bill.
That is as it should be. The People’s elected representatives in Congress and White House delivered this law; the People get to vote on it and them this year. To repeal it requires Republican control of House and Senate AND a Republican in the White House.
The Supreme Court ruling that it is a tax ensures that only 51 Senate votes are required for repeal, as filibusters are not permitted on revenue or budget bills.
Those intending to vote for the Libertarian or Constitution or Know-Nothing Party candidates have a decision to make.
June 30th, 2012 @ 1:44 am
Complaining about Roberts is complaining about the refs/umpires in sports. Win by a lot, and you don’t have to worry about the blown close calls. Do your job getting the Democrats out of the White House and Congress, and you don’t have to worry about the Supreme Court’s blown call.
June 30th, 2012 @ 2:06 am
I think it is fisting their buddies in homeroom.
But you cannot judge. That would be bigoted.
June 30th, 2012 @ 3:58 am
“…terrible judicially and constitutionally … good politically for the GOP…”

“[V]ote for them, then hold a blow torch to their feet to make them do teh
right thing. If they refuse, then it’s time to make sure they are done.”
Do you know how many generations of voters have been saying the same thing? And we still ended up where we are today.
June 30th, 2012 @ 4:03 am
Your husband is a wiser man than most.
June 30th, 2012 @ 2:34 pm
Wilson?
June 30th, 2012 @ 4:44 pm
I might take your argument further and say it also requires Republicans who actually want to repeal it (rather than just tinker around the corners of it so as to provide political cover for themselves and a better deal for their cronies as opposed to the Democrat ones). I’m sure there are some that are quite happy with the Commerce Clause as well as a lot of other “progressive” agendas — they certainly have a track record of not touching them; many now have political track records that witness are suprising comfort with “progressive” agendas (and methods of behavior as well). This might be a problem.
I might also go further and restate that unless the U.S. real GDP grows by 3% for the next 5 years or so, we don’t recover from the last recession (let alone deal with any new ones that come down the pike) — in which case, all of this is just arguing triflings while our barrel goes over the falls.
And just to be nosy: but what decision do those voters have to make? Perhaps I am missing something most important to my understanding of things.

Roberts showed us that we cannot depend on the court to defend our freedoms. There is only one defense left now, other than revolution, get out the vote, and throw the bumbs out, starting with Obama and the dem senate. You should be outraged, but outrage does not change things, votes do.
July 2nd, 2012 @ 10:31 am
And if we get rid of Obama, we might be able to get a 6-3 court majority. Then even with one craven conservative defects, we can still win 5-4. But in the end it is leftists that depend on undemocratic institutions like the court to ratify their agenda. We must depend on We The People voting to throw the bumbs out.
