Neal Rauhauser’s Online Slander Factory

FROM AN UNDISCLOSED LOCATION
Lee Stranahan has obtained e-mails sent privately by Brett Kimberlin’s demented associate Neal Rauhauser in which Rauhauser makes what would appear to be false and defamatory statements about a number of individuals, including Patrick “Patterico” Frey:
Someone was funding Seth [Allen] and it was either John Patrick Frey, or Aaron Walker. . . .
Frey dropped Naffe’s dox in order to intimidate/guide people in how to attack her. This was done to protect James O’Keefe – Frey has been his most vocal defender, and I think they used to work together.
This idea that Patterico is a sinister Moriarty, an arch-conspirator who masterminds all manner of right-wing evil, became lodged in Rauhauser’s warped mind during the WeinerGate scandal. Regular readers will kindly excuse the repetition as I remind you that Patterico was targeted in multiple July 2011 posts by Rauhauser (“Stranded Wind”) on Daily Kos:
- July 4: Weinergate: Patterico’s Penalization
- July 4: Disingenuous Chart, Dishonest D.A. (Weinergate)
- July 17: Weinergate: Patterico’s Petulance
- July 19: Patterico’s Personal Pipsqueak
- July 23: In Which Patterico Imperils Breitbart
- July 25: Patterico’s Prattling Puppets
By July 27, 2011, Rauhauser declared that Patterico “looks to be a pretty good candidate for the planner/operator behind Weinergate.” Rauhauser’s ideé fixe — his bizarre delusion that Anthony Weiner was the victim of a conspiracy coordinated by Patterico — is a figment of his febrile imagination.
Yet when Rauhauser transmits these deranged and baseless claims via e-mail (and, as we have seen, he seems to do this routinely) he crosses a line between being a mere kook and being a slanderer. And when, as in his May 24 e-mail to Mike Stack and Jay Leiderman, Rauhauser attempts to orchestrate an unfounded nuisance suit against Patterico, he crosses another line into what would seem to be an interstate conspiracy to corrupt the justice system.
The e-mail published by Lee Stranahan shows Rauhauser not only falsely asserting that Patterico was “funding” Seth Allen and “used to work together” with O’Keefe, but furthermore saying that Allen, Walker, Ron Brynaert, Mike Stack and Michelle Lessick all have “psych[iatric] disabilities” or “mental difficulties.” Rauhauser says Stack “was steered to attack me — he’s another person on psych disability that Frey picked out and victimized” — an absolutely ludicrous smear.
Somehow, Rauhauser would have us believe, all of these crazy people (some of whom don’t even know one another) have been “victimized” by Patrick Frey and enlisted in a conspiracy against that upstanding citizen Brett Kimberlin and his eminently rational colleague Neal Rauhauser.
Are you aware, however — and perhaps even Rauhauser has forgotten — that Neal explained the game plan of his own conspiracy, involving both Velvet Revolution and “Anonymous,” in October of last year? Are you aware that O’Keefe has been the target of Rauhauser’s own malicious machinations?
Does the IRS consider slander a tax-exempt activity?
Magic 8-Ball says . . . probably not.

Whose IRS are you talking about and who’s being slandered? These questions matter.

“Febrile imagination” is a nice touch.
I just read those email over at Lee Stranahan’s site. Neal Rauhauser spins conspiracy theories better than a dab hand with a distaff. However, it seems to me that there’s a danger of getting sidetracked by the lunatic charm of NR’s fabrications and losing track of Kimberlin. Rauhauser’s madness tends to fascinate.
Is he getting paid by one of Kimberlin’s non-profits for his “services”? If so…my stars!

Someone should contact the IRS and request an evaulation of the nonprofit status of Velvet Revolution and Justice Through Music. Also, provide them with the facts of what these organizations are doing and supporting.

I’ve written. The IRS does not move fast. Write to the charitable division; the IRS’ website has some fairly clear (for a wonder) guidelines and contact information.

The US IRS is what Stacy is referring to. The organizations are Velvet Revolution and Justice Through Music. If these are 501(c)3 tax exempt organizations, they are not supposed to have political agendas on pain of losing their exempt status, which means all those lefty contributions become taxable income at corporate rates.

Velvet Revolution’s Original directors:
Brett Kimberlin
Jeff Cohen
Brad Friedman
Ben Gelt
So, if Jeff Cohen and Brad Friedman devoted ZERO hours for ZERO compensation, then who was responsible for overseeing this organiztion, paying bills, making decisions as to expenditures, and etc? Remember, Friednab resided/resides in CA.
Brett Kimberlin and the loan is considered to be “self-dealing”. Why? Even though Kimberlin is not listed as Executive Director or Director, the address of the Organization is listed as the same address of Kimberlin. And Kimberlin was/is the Registered Agent

[…] So, when Stacy writes that Kimberlin associate Neal Rauhauser believes Patterico is at the center of… and cause what he characterizes as "chaos" by recruiting henchmen to his nefarious purposes, and that Rauhauser sent off a bunch of emails detailing what he believes (apparently) to be the motives and methods Patterico employs, I gotta laugh. […]

I took Pablo’s comment to mean that it’s Obama’s IRS and they’re not going to give a ratzass about some right-winger being slandered. No matter what ‘the law’ says. The Obama Admin has a vast ability to avoid enforcing laws that don’t suit their agenda.

RSM’s interest in Rauhauser stems from the link he believes he’s drawn between him and Little Brett’s non-profits. So yes, RSM is claiming NRau is being paid by BK’s “non-profits.”
June 16th, 2012 @ 10:41 am
I’m not really seeing any direct ‘claim.’
Yes, it is a rather obvious inference that can be drawn. One that could easily be dispelled if these ‘non-profits’ books were made less opaque by their principals.
It’s about the money. All about the money.
Tax evasion, and judgement evasion being rather serious offenses. One that might put a convicted felon back in prison for a very long time.

If it looks like a RICO, walks like a RICO, and talks like a RICO, most observers would logically conclude it is a RICO – which has no place on the (c)3 roles.
