Here, watch this. See if you can figure out Farage’s real opinion of Brussels under all of the whitewash and indirection:

Via American Power.

UPDATE, via Zero Hedge, that other famous British MEP also seems unwilling to commit to any tangible opinion on the Euro:

I just wish these Brits could somehow communicate what it is they’re on about a little better.

Update II: welcome, Instapundit readers!

Update III: transcript of Nigel and more at AoSHQ.

I found them perfectly understandable, of course it helps that American is their first language.

Mr. Farrage, I don’t understand.  Why can’t we simply raise additional revenues from our colonies… ooh, right…

    Quite succinct from both gents.

The policy of the EU powers that be and the ECB and big Euro-banks has been to kick the can down the road at every juncture because if it ever comes to rest long enough to be measured, it will become instantly apparent that the bankers and policymakers have squandered their assets, sending good euros chasing after bad.

From the first signs of Greece’s insolvency two and a half years ago, it was apparent to anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of finance and access to a $5 calculator that there was no freakin’ way the country could ever comply even with the first limited austerity measures back then, and they have not.

Interestingly enough, the pending banking crisis in the Eurozone  closely resembles that which exploded in the US in 2008 in that banks were arm-twisted by the government(s) into making unsound loans, but did so with gusto once they began.

There’s a reason for credit standards:  those who can’t meet them aren’t likely to meet their obligations for repayment.

Suddenly the OMRLP plank of inviting the rest of Europe to join the Pound makes a lot more sense.

These two speak better than I write.
    Masters of extemporaneous speech.
Then again, maybe they’ve said the same thing for so long that it’s from memory.

Makes a chap proud to be part of the Anglosphere. Frankly, I’m surprised the European parliament tolerates such candor.  It isn’t like it isn’t needed.

I wish to hell we heard that sort of confused rant more often on this side of the puddle.

The euro per se isn’t the tumor, the cradle to grave lifestyle the the Euros so enjoy is the tumor…..fix that.

I love the consternation on the face of the guy introducing Nigel.  It says “On no, him again.”

This whole parliament thing. They would not be talking like
that in a Supreme Soviet. The EU needs to tighten it up.
