Brett Kimberlin Really Hates Racists, Eh?

Posted on | May 27, 2012 | 50 Comments

“For three months, Kimberlin resided at the federal prison in prison in Terra Haute, Indiana, in a unit reserved for convicts awaiting long-term assignments to other institutions. . . . He had resisted a sexual predator by tossing powdered chlorine cleanser in his face. The predator was African American, Kimberlin told me, and as he fended him off he shouted, ‘You f–king n–r! You motherf–kng n–r! Get the f–k away from me! I’ll kill you, you motherf–r!’ Kimberlin enjoyed telling this story.”

I’m shocked. I’d say it was white guilt, but he isn’t capable of remorse. So it must be a ploy by him to exploit those suffering from it.

I have very little love for Kimberlin other than what is required by Christianity but I certainly don’t begrudge him defense in that situation.

However his “enjoyment” at the story speaks volumes

I have been working (farming season) and not really looking at other events/bloggers on the web. I have noticed a number of referrals from your page and came over to see what was up. I am pretty shocked and amazed to see what happened with the Brett Kimberlin deal. It seems I missed the whole protest. It is kind of like posting the phrase “there are no atheists foxholes,” and watching the google search trolls come out of the woodwork. I guess you really do matter or no one would have taken the time to harass you!
So when I retreat back to my little 35 hits-a-day site and talk about vintage stereos, horrible country western artists, and tractors-are THEY watching me as well?
If so, I guess the joke is on THEM!

WTF Stacy, is this supposed to make us dislike the guy even more? If that’s the intent it’s not working for me. If I had been in that situation I’d have said as much and more. When you’re in that kind of situation you don’t give a shit about how you talk to somebody who’s attempting to rape you. It doesn’t mean you feel that way about everybody of that race. Certain slurs can be applied selectively, even if its not a good idea in the vast majority of cases. In this case, it would fit.

The qualifier that demonstrates this is an actual viewpoint and not simply a recounting of an attack in the direct aftermath is: “Kimberlin enjoyed telling this story.”.  During the 36 months I was imprisoned I was attacked in the same manner six times and I successfully fended them off even though I am not by nature a violent person. I even used a meal tray to protect myself on one occasion and was placed in “the hole” for a week as punishment (stripped naked, no mattress, no sheets, not even so much as a washcloth, sleeping on a concrete slab and fed a “loaf” as punishment). One does as one needs in an exigent situation. However, to relise recounting that attack with the racial slurs and obvious relish evinced in the book, this does described the twisted little soul inside the man.

As there are many different forms of “love”, some of which don’t require any sort of emotional investment beyond a vague, generalized compassion for the human race, the answer to your question is most likely “no”.

For example: one could evince love of one’s fellow man “towards” Jeffery Dahmer by remarking that it was too bad that he, a fellow human soul, had to be such a sad, disgusting, twisted, little freak who warranted killin’.  In that sense one is “loving” humanity in general, and our sad, sorry, sinful state in particular through the lens of wishing a fruity, murderous bastard had to be a fruity, murderous bastard…and suffers no qualms with the idea of sending Jeffery justifiably off to the dirt nap, nor any alimentary disruptions over the general notion of evincing a feeling that it was too damn bad he was what  he was:  a damnable mofo who warranted said dirt nap.

There are plenty of stories that could be told about Kimberlin that demonstrates what a piece of shit he is. This doesn’t do it for me. And I hate racists. But the caveat to that is, I hate actual, real racists, which I don’t necessarily define as somebody who lets loose with “The N Word” when a black man tries to rape him. Or even one who enjoys telling the story. Most racists would go out of their way to avoid using that word other than when they are around “their own kind”.

We’re too hung up on language anyway, and language proves little if anything. It’s like being sensitive about retarded people by calling them “mentally challenged” instead of “retarded”. The next thing you know, hilarity ensues so the advocates search for another phrase, and so instead of “disabled” we are urged to use “special abled”. And more hilarity ensues, but the whiners never learn.

But they do keep us hung up and defensive, to the point Stacy is here embarrassing himself blocking out vowels to words in a report about not what Stacy said or thought, but what some other person said. The whole thing passed the point of absurdity some decades ago when grown men and women started saying “so and so said ‘The N Word'” instead of “so and so said the word ‘nigger'” as though to repeat it directly is somehow sanctioning the use of the word, even when you’re talking critically about the persons racist behavior.

I actually find it very disturbing.

    May 27th, 2012 @ 12:59 pm

Perhaps the key to this little story isn’t so much that he let loose with some racially charged profanities, nor that he retold the story (although the relishing of the same does raise some questions)…rather, it is that it would appear to be just a wee, tad bit hypocritical for ol” Brett to now be getting on his PC high horse and riding out to rid the range of evil, non-PC rightwingers (but of course, is there truly anyone else?  of course not!) who are obviously all racist and evil in their lack of PC etiquette.
And of course, the people who hail him as their white knight of the holy racist crusade; there’s a lot to be said of them that they still firmly buy all of that, no?Or: things that make you go “hmmm….” for a thousand Alex???

    May 27th, 2012 @ 1:07 pm

The qualifier that demonstrates this is an actual viewpoint and not simply a recounting of an attack in the direct aftermath is: “Kimberlin enjoyed telling this story.”

Indeed. Why, in talking to Mark Singer in 1992-93, would Kimberlin recount this anecdote from a dozen years earlier? And why would Singer — a liberal — feel obliged to include this anecdote, followed by the seemingly gratuitous comment that Kimberlin “enjoyed telling” it?

Of course, what one might actually say to one’s attacker in the midst of attempted rape is neither here nor there. What is obviously relevant is that Kimberlin seemed to delight in telling this particular story — and that Singer found that to be potentially significant.

I understand the point to the story, I just disagree with it. Like I said, I’d do and say the same as Kimberlin in that situation and wouldn’t have any problem talking about it later. I don’t think that makes me a racist, nor does it make me a hypocrite when I criticize racism. If you want to call Kimberlin a hypocrite, I’d focus on how his dislike for racists is selectively focused on white examples, while he would probably excuse examples of racism by blacks.

  23. robertstacymccain
    May 27th, 2012 @ 1:13 pm

is this just more Kimberlin self-aggrandizement?

We don’t know, but the fact that Kimberlin is a lying braggart is proved by many self-glorifying falsehoods he has told over the years. Mark Singer’s recognition that his would-be co-author was a compulsive liar is a big part of the story told in Citizen K.

  24. ThePaganTemple

  25. ThePaganTemple
    May 27th, 2012 @ 1:18 pm

That’s why I have no black friends. It has nothing to do with being racist, I just refuse to associate with people you have to walk on eggshells around. I make no bones about that. The fact that the vast majority of them are Democrats is another good reason to cross the street when you see them coming.

The next time you’re in Compton I would go out of my way to avoid advertising the fact you’re conservative too. That might get the shit stomped out of you just as quickly as any ill-uttered slur would.

  30. McGehee
    May 27th, 2012 @ 2:23 pm

Thing is, I doubt I’d remember exactly what I’d been saying. So any quotes I attributed to myself would have to be suspect.

If that’s the case with Kimberlin, one wonders why he’s attributing those particular quotes to himself.

Another viewpoint: per Alinsky’s Rules, this is holding the left accountable to their own rules. So, according to progressive propaganda, anyone who uses the n-word, criticizes democrats, claims that the media is biased, supports voter ID laws, says “fried chicken,” or criticizes O for socialist policies, is a racist.

The pertinent thing is that he relished the tale, which means that a person could infer that using that sort of language was also relished.

And whatever the stupid intricacies of PC bs, it really isn’t admirable  to relish in tossing out racially derogatory epithets just for the heck of it; quite disgusting actually (if you want to insult somebody, go with what they are individually and character based imhao; racial and affiliated junk just points to a lack of imagination and willingness to truly engage).

  36. McGehee

Bullshit @Pathfinder’s wife we’re not talking about somebody having a mild disagreement, or even a heated argument. We’re talking about an instance of alleged attempted rape. You’re supposed to be willing to “engage” with somebody like that? Rape is a serious crime, and if somebody tried to pull that shit on me, the first thing he would need to worry about is my ripping his fucking cock off, not what name I might call him in anger.

OK…you seem to be a bit off your rocker anyway….so I don’t know if there is any reason to provide context….

But, Kimberlin has gone out his way to call RSM and others racist.

Kimberlin does so because he thinks that if he does that he can get minorities to help him…at least till they realize he is crazy…

Kimberlin wants supporters to his cause (whatever that is)…and he is willing to say anything to get them.

  39. ThePaganTemple
    May 27th, 2012 @ 6:18 pm

My oh my thanks to you
@CPAguy:disqus  a great fog has lifted. Now I understand that no blacks would have ever considered helping a liberal white guy like Kimberlin fight Republicans unless he called them racist. Why, right up until then they were as likely as not to be on OUR side against him. Now, of course, since he used a racist slur on a man who attempted to rape him in prison, they wouldn’t dream of helping him now. I bet the NAACP and the New Black Panthers are going to go out and start registering Republican voters any day now, just to spite him.

And all these other liberals will turn against Kimberlin and support us as well. You know, just like NOW and other liberal activist groups turned against Bill Clinton over his womanizing affairs in the nineties and just like they jumped to Sarah Palin’s defense when she was viciously attacked by leftists, and just like they defended W when people showed pictures of him with a Hitler stash.

Are you fucking kidding me? These assholes can’t even bring themselves to speak out firmly against the most severe, objectionable excesses of the #Occupy movement other than in the most tangential terms possible, and then they choose their words very, very carefully, what very few times they do that much.

But keep on dreaming. Maybe that unicorn in your back yard might turn out to be real as well.

  40. PaulLemmen
    May 27th, 2012 @ 6:33 pm

Silence gets no attention and the attackers allies are not alerted and no one goes to the hole. ONLY if a defense that attracts the guards attention in some way i.e., through sound, motion or need for medical care are the combatants placed in the hole … both of them. Getting attacked and the guards noticing gets you the hole, so the defense must be as quiet as the attack. Out of six attacks, only one did the guards become involved because I made so much noise. It was the first time I was attacked and came in my first week. I learned from the other cons that a lock in a sock stops those attacks easily. (Combination locks are used to secure your property but cannot be taken out of the detention center to prison after conviction so there was a surfeit of locks available.) I learned how to survive quickly. Mostly it was because I was already 52 years old when arrested and incarcerated. In the prison culture, old guys are automatically given a bit of respect. As long as you follow the etiquette of the culture, you do fine. I had several old guys that I, because of age, associated with. Most were long-time convicts and they taught me much about survival. May God Bless them.

I’m thinking that’s not a real solid story.

Given that he has always been suspected of being a perv of some kind, and he’s a scrawny, squirrely little guy, what are the odds he gave it up to the assailant and the story he told Singer — with ickle Brett the great hero as always — is a revenge fantasy, or just plain bullshit?
