If you get email from him with a link to www.onenews15.net, or similar, it is suspect.

I use Chrome & “Do Not Track Plus” to keep my browsing from becoming a bummer.

    I got one, but it wasn’t addressed directly to me. I wasn’t sure if he’d been hacked or if someone was just spoofing his account.

    I got an email about joining him on LinkedIN but since I’m not, I didn’t.

    You must be hitting the target Stace if the spammers are sending up flack.

    Indeed, there was an e-mail from a “Laree Lee” that got past my spam filter with a link to a “news” type address. The sender had the last name “McDaniel” — name of a guy I knew 25 years ago — and I thought it might be something relevant.

    So like a fool I clicked the link — stupid “work from home” site of some kind — and apparently it contained a bug that jacked my e-mail address.

    One came into my inbox at 2016 and the ‘To’ field was addressed to: brian[dot]ledbetter[at]gmail[dot]com

    I also got an e-mail about koing him on LinkedIn, as well.

    As a precaution I’d recommend changing all your passwords. Especially email and LinkedIn. But to be safe, change ’em all.

     Same for me as for you.

    My Firefox asked me if I wanted to stop loading the page (and I had clicked the X close page thing immediately as soon as I saw the “work from home” crap) and I ran both Avast! and AVG that didn’t find any loaded malware.

    Doh!

     In my experience, Avast! is very good at dealing with the Web today. I’ve been using it on my home systems since 2005 and not had anything get through. My corporate laptop, OTOH, uses McAfee and has been lunched a couple of times just visiting blogs, most recently when Bill Quick’s site was broken into back in January.

     I got a “work at home” spam email form you. A few weeks ago i got an invite from you to join linkedin, was that one really from you? I hope so since I did actually accept that one. The linkedin profile looked like the real you, with an impressive journalist’s biography and all.

    Yes, sending out LinkdIn invitations is about as clever as it gets. Damn feminist hackers, doing LinkdIn’s dirty work for them.

    Okay.  What happened is that when I clicked on the link (before I knew better) in the email it installed a java app.  It began sending spam, about 40 or so emails that got bounced back to me from my bank for lack of a password.  I’ll see if anyone else got it.  The bounced back emails stopped around 5:30 AM PDT.  I’ve manually deleted all cache, cookies.  I installed Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac.  Not to happy about this, I gave up on Windows because I didn’t know which was worse, the virus or the anti-virus software.

    Wow. Not sure which is more stupid:

    1) Thinking that the DNC is waging a cyberwar against  D-lister bloggers who don’t get invited to speak at BlogCon…and that the big gun in that war is LinkedIn’s spambot; or,

    2) Thinking that getting spammed by LinkedIn is evidence you’re having an impact on American politics.

    I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty proud of the way Nigerian princes and “FBI Director Robert Mueller” fight over me and all that money that is just waiting for me to collect it. That really shows I’ve made it as a pundit.
