Insults Too Grievous to Be Borne Gladly
Posted on | May 2, 2012 | 18 Comments
The dark mood is on me again, and I keep stumbling across occasions to remember injuries and insults heaped up like a gigantic mountain of humiliation. An inferno of rage burns in my gut, and restraining it takes a constant, conscious effort that exhausts me.
Serial betrayals by backstabbing two-faced “friends” — well, I must put it out of my mind, if possible.
Today, I’ve got business offline that will keep me away from the blog most of the day, and I’ll try to cool my temper. Eventually, some liberal will say or do something stupid, and will regret it: Looks like you done pissed off the wrong redneck today, buster.
Meanwhile, remember me in your prayers.
UPDATE: So now I’m blogging from a coffee shop in downtown D.C. — got a few meetings today — and what’s the first thing I see when I log on?
Troglopundit wants some of this pent-up rage. Listen here, you overgrown Pleistocene throwback: It’s not my fault the diminutive hipster douchebag Sean Hackbarth moved to D.C. and thereby deprived you of your status as the Second Ugliest Blogger in Wisconsin. Stop blaming me for everything, OK? Blame Telford!
UPDATE II: Helpful advice from Bill Quick:
Well, try not to strangle anybody in the business deal. That’s usually a deal breaker.
Thanks, Bill. Such a reaction would probably be frowned on by the guys with wires in their ears. Kind of an important meeting. IYKWIMAITYD.

My morning Rosary is for you, that our Lord blesses you with discernment and cool-headedness today. Always remember, His will, not ours.

Remember that you have a loving family, a God-given nose for news, and a blog that got 11,000 page-views on Monday. The first alone puts you well ahead of many people in this world, including your detractors. May you find comfort in the things that matter until your anger passes, and may you lay the smackdown on anyone who deserves it in the meantime.

Stacy, I’m sure there are lot of us here willing to hold back the arms of any guy that you wish to smack around.

I never blow up online. If friends turn two-faced (and they have) I just let them go. If Lefties get their drawers in a bunch, I just let them. If someone calls me an Islamophobe or a homophobe or whatever, I just shrug. You have to be sort of Zen about it. I hate to sound new-agey (because I’m not) but taking a sort of “oh well” attitude is really what works best for one’s spirit and blood pressure. Because nothing you ever say to these people is going to make a difference anyway. Trying to reason with them, or make sense of them, only leads to a heart full of bile. And frankly, it can affect your reputation as a blogger. There’s only so much of reading rants and outbursts that most people are willing to take.

Actually, I find ripping people’s heads off (rhetorically of course) to be a mighty fine mood booster, and anyway, they have it comin’ to ’em.
Stacy in a berserker rage is truly a beautiful thing to behold.

If you are having business with who I think you are, the guys with the wires in their ears might not like it, but you’d be doing the country and the world a favor… just sayin….
