Five Academy Award-Winning Beauties Who Are Moms (Unlike Ashley Judd)

When people think of factors involved in Hollywood success, motherhood probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind.

Despite what the embittered rantings of childless pro-abortion fanatic Ashley Judd might lead you to believe, however, many of the world’s most famous actresses have shown that women can have glamour, a successful movie career, critical acclaim and be a mom, too.

5. MARION COTILLARD — The 36-year-old French actress won the Oscar in 2007 for her portrayal of singer Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose. She and her boyfriend, actor/director Guillaume Canet, last year had a son named Marcel.

4. KATE WINSLET — After being nominated three previous times — for Titanic (1997), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) and Little Children (2006) — Winslet finally claimed her Best Actress award for The Reader in 2007. She had daughter Mia in 2000, with her first husband, director Jim Threapleton. After her divorce from Threapleton, she married director Sam Mendes, with whom she had son Joe in 2003.

3. JULIA ROBERTS — She was first nominated for her role in 1990’s Pretty Woman, but had to wait another decade to win Best Actress honors as Erin Brockovich in 2000. She and her husband, cameraman Daniel Moder, have three children, twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, born in 2004, and son Henry born in 2007.

2. REESE WITHERSPOON — Having gained widespread critical acclaim in Election (1999), Witherspoon won the Oscar for her feisty role as June Carter Cash in the 2005 biopic Walk The Line. She had two children — Ava, born in 1999, and Deacon, born in 2003 — with her first husband, actor Ryan Phillippe. Now 36, Witherspoon recently announced that she is expecting another child with her second husband, agent Jim Toth. And now, the No. 1 Academy Award-Winning Beauty Who Is a Mom (Unlike Ashley Judd . . .

1. NATALIE PORTMAN — Having won international fame as Princess Amidala in the second Star Wars trilogy, Portman won the Best Actress award for her portrayal of a ballerina in Black Swan in 2010. Now 30 years old, Portman last year gave birth to a son, Aleph Portman-Millepied, and married husband Benjamin Millepied earlier this year.

HELP FOR ASHLEY JUDD

It would be unnecessarily cruel, of course, for pro-life Christians to repay Ashley Judd’s venomous attacks in kind, without offering any prospect for healing the profound spiritual wounds that most likely explain her psycho-political aggressions.

ABORTION & EMOTIONAL TRAUMA
Post-Abortion Stress Syndrome (PASS) has been the subject of heated controversy in the mental-health community. Some psychologists dispute the existence of PASS, while many post-abortive women have described symptoms including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, sleep problems, inability to function in relationships, and even suicidal thoughts.
ABORTION, INFERTILITY & LOST CHOICES
Emotional disturbances in post-abortive women may be most stressful in those who subsequently experience infertility. Common sense suggests the two phenomena (abortion and infertility) would demonstrate a degree of correlation; factors associated with unplanned pregnancies are also often implicated in fertility disorders, and infections or other medical complications of abortion may impair a woman’s future childbearing ability. In such cases, obviously, women may be overwhelmed with the thought that in making the choice to have an earlier abortion, they have in fact lost what would have been their subsequent choice to become mothers.
ASHLEY JUDD: A CASE STUDY?
The actress Ashley Judd’s outspoken support of NARAL, and her use of cruel jokes about abortion to mock Rick Santorum, suggest the possibility that Judd is herself post-abortive. Certainly, there is reason to believe that Judd’s strident pro-abortion statements are at least partly motivated by her own personal problems. She has described herself as a survivor of sexual abuse and recounted her history of depression and, in 2006, told Glamour magazine she spent 47 days being treated in a Texas facility for her mental-health issues. According to at least one tabloid account, Judd’s marriage to Indy-car racer Dino Franchitti nearly broke up because of her inability to have children, despite undergoing years of treatment for infertility. Given this background, we cannot dismiss the likelihood that Judd’s pro-abortion politics represent an expression of psychological disturbances, perhaps an attempt to cope by rationalizing her emotional trauma through attacks on scapegoats.
HELP FOR POST-ABORTION TRAUMA

Millions of American women have struggled with psychological problems associated with (if not directly caused by) abortion. Feminists coined a slogan, “The personal is political,” to justify their radicalism and it is likely that the warped pathological politics embraced by women like Ashley Judd is a misguided effort at making sense of their personal trauma by finding scapegoats for their emotional injuries.

Actually a lot of kids who grow up on the left do end up going conservative later on. They have lived the experiment first hand and realize it is not working.

If you have personally suffered from post abortion trauma, how can you justify to yourself leading other young women to be exposed to the same risk and suffering?

Are you so twisted and broken inside that you’d rather have company in your personal hell than serve as an example of strength and kindness?

Is there no woman left inside you? Are you now only a purveyor of death, sorrow and pain?

Pfffpt…too nice (unless this was sarcasm, in which case, well played). So she is stressed…there are plenty of other women who have had bad experience who handle themselves with more grace and maturity (and Judd has proven herself most immature and most ungraceful) and most of them are not wealthy Hollywood actresses with at least the solace that fame and fortune entails.
Who gives a rat’s behind for her suffering? (and if this is great suffering for her, well, the delicate flower should be grateful for her circumstances…she could have been born into a real hellhole).

Most self-professed “LIberals” live by very CONSERVATIVE principles. They are married, they have kids, they take care of their own, they work, they pay their bills, they are responsible, they aren’t on the take, they’re proud of their independence.

We share so much that is good. Yet they fall for the easy rhetoric, and BELIEVE we are evil.

This new brand of “Liberal” – “Progressive” is a cancer on us all. #Occupy epitomizes them, and Obama has filled the administration with the worst of them.

I’m not in the business of making fun of women who are not mothers, and not just because I am not a mother myself. (Note: few women or men attack men who are not fathers….) I also believe that if Judd had aborted, she is a mother- just a mother of a child dead by her own hand.

That said, Judd’s hatred of the pro-life movement is a fair basis for mockery and contempt.

I don’t think it’s a case of not being a mother so much as what you pointed out in your last paragraph. She seems to have a hang up with women who choose to be mothers and most importantly likes to express this hang up in a most vile and vicious fashion.

To be fair, I would go after men who went after fathers in the same fashion.

It’s the entire “public figure” thing, really. Same with politicians, musicians, artists, dancers, models, etc.

I once was talking with a kid who works in a music store and he was referring to a guy “who was my former step-dad.” Some kids have several step-dads or step-moms.

When we wuz young, only Hollywood people named Rooney or Taylor had that kind of serial monogamy goin’ on.

I think of the Natalie Portman character in “V
for Vendetta” when she refused to sell out at any cost, would not break
down under the horrible circumstances and give the information that would save her
from the torture, save even her own life, because she refused to be a whore for totalitarianism.

We see this archetype playing out all the time. We are
constantly being put in situations to choose what we will and will not sell out
for. What are we, as individuals making up the whole of society, willing to
“sell our souls” for?

I have been in many situations where I had to ask myself
just how desperate I had to be to allow myself to be complicit in situations
where I or others were being treated as worthless, abused or co-opted for
self-serving but, inhumane and destructive, purposes.

It becomes necessary to assess the situation and see if it
is more advantageous to attempt to gather allies to counteract the situation,
or to make a statement by walking away and refusing to participate in the situation, or to just play the game and hope that one will not be affected by anything,
and then choose accordingly between these options.

was assigned by a philosophy prof, the task of outlining and analyzing
Greer’s book, for the purpose of discovering error. I was one of 10 or
so students to receive this assignment.
Using the tools we were learning in our class, I did the assignment, which took about 10 days; it was hard work.

Understood.

But I do ache for women who bought the abortion lie, think they will “someday” have children, and end up without kids. Sometimes it’s because abortion made them sterile (bet Planned Parenthood doesn’t tell you about that), or sometimes because “someday” was past their time of fertility. Abortion does break and wound women, and adding on the lack of motherhood just makes it worse.

There are also a lot of women who, by choice or otherwise, have not been mothers of their own children but have dedicated their lives to helping other people’s children. Think Mother Teresa or the former NRLC President, Dr. Jefferson.

It’s Judd’s utter contempt for motherhood, not her lack of being a mother, that makes me loathe her.

(And yes, I do understand that as a woman who is over 30, with no husband and no children, I may not be the most unbiased person out there to opine on this.)

I guess everybody has forgotten about the time Ashley was caught “allegedly” shoplifting. If I remember right, the case was settled or the charges dropped, but I think its pretty clear she more than likely did the deed. Shoplifting is a major sign of a personality disorder. After all, its not like this person absolutely has to steal to get by.

Someone very dear to me had a tragic reaction after having an abortion. She quickly spiraled into alcohol and drug abuse. We were worried to death when she completely disappeared for 6 months. When she finally resurfaced, she was clean–and pregnant. When she found out she was pregnant, she kicked the crack on her own, no rehab. A real miracle. Today the child who saved her life is 21 years old and finishing college.
