Obama’s One Success

Posted on | April 24, 2012 | 21 Comments

He has singlehandedly solved our immigration problem!

For first time since Depression,
more Mexicans leave U.S. than enter

Turns out, all you have to do is to destroy the potential for economic growth, and illegal aliens go home. If they were happy living in a corrupt Third World pesthole, why bother leaving Mexico?

UPDATE: Ed Morrissey at Hot Air:

At the time Mitt Romney made a reference to “self-deportation through tougher employer and immigration enforcement in a January debate, he got roundly criticized for believing that illegals would choose to leave the US. Today, National Journal says Romney has been vindicated by a new study of immigration from and to Mexico.

MSNBC will denounce this as an attempt by the Romney campaign to deny the Obama administration credit for its success.

And really, if Democrats want to pander to xenophobic bigotry, why shouldn’t they get credit for it, huh?

I guess we can add that to Obama’s list of accomplishments:

Stacy: The answer is simple. In Mexico, they get free guns from our federal government. If they stayed here, they’d have to pay for them themselves!

I see what Stacy did here and it’s fine (and, I guess, amusing).  But let’s check the source on this:  the WSJ.  You know, the vox populi of the cheap labor lobby, who of course wishes to take the wind out of the sales of the enforcement movement.  What better way than publishing this stories like this?

You can read immigration squishes like tool Josh
Trevino (@jstrevino) if you want to see what a corporatist Republican
sellout looks like (“do we want to be the first generation of Americans
that Mexicans look at and say, ‘We have a better opportunity in
Mexico?'”). But doesn’t account for the net 20-25M illegals that have
migrated here the last 25 years that we wish to fund them with items
like the DREAM Act while providing them with affirmative action. I guess the marginal utility of moving here
illegally and sponging off the American taxpayer reaches peak status at
25M. After that, the 25,000,001 Mexican realizes that, sh*t, it’s
actually better to stay at home then live in S. Central LA or Maricopa
    County, Arizona.

Reducing the denominator of people looking for
work means border enforcement AND employment enforcement of labor laws.
If you’re here illegally and you LEAVE the country, THEN we can start
the discussion about citizenship application. Do you think those who
were deported would want to come back or still live in Mexico? You know
the answer to the question. The cheap labor politics of the WSJ, which
happen to align with the Dem Party, want to take enforcement off the
    table by any means necessary.

Yes, Obama sucks.  Yes, he wishes to turn our federal government into a perpetual Democratic election machine for a “new people”.  BUT, can we actually trust Romney on immigration enforcement?  Let’s just say I am not sold.

The notion that immigration=Mexican immigration, illegal or not is a serious impediment to conception, discussion of and implementation of immigration policy. It’s much easier for Mexicans to go back and forth accross the southern border that’s why some 25% of illegals intercepted aren’t Mexicans. That’s the flaw in Romney’s policy. Just because many Mexican illegals particularly if they haven’t been here very long, will self deport doesn’t mean that Somali illegals etc. will.

Sometimes dark humor is the best humor. Well played. But i have an even deeper palette:

If they were happy living in a developing corrupt Third World pesthole, why bother leaving for Mexico?

Pretty soon America will line the borders with guns facing inward to keep anyone from leaving.
