The Con Science Of A Liberal

Easter Sunday is probably inappropriate to use Paul Krugman as a punching bag. But it’s not a sin if Krugman does it himself, and this blog merely provides a communications path, is it?
Here, Krugman attempts to go after Paul Ryan:
In my next life I want to be a conservative policy scammer. Think of how much nicer it would be. Instead of constantly being accused of having evil motives, I’d be presumed to have noble intentions no matter how much the actual content of my policy proposals was at odds with such claims. Instead of being accused of saying bad things I never said, I’d be given credit for supporting good things I’ve never supported. Life would be great!
OK, I’m whining. But the continuing defense of Paul Ryan is a remarkable phenomenon. He’s still being treated by many pundits as a man deeply concerned about deficits, when the fact is that his policy proposals are all about redistributing income upward, and make no serious effort to curb debt. He’s even given credit for advocating higher taxes on the rich when he has more or less specifically rejected the things for which he’s given credit.
Krugman, if it’s respect you crave, give up being an e-clown-omist and offer some reality-based advice! Anything you say which does not begin with the confession that the United States is broke, and has to go cold turkey on the social welfare state idiocy of the last century just isn’t serious.

Doesn’t Krugman have enough to do advising the government on his Anti-Space Alien Defense Plan?
Good Lord, how does that guy merit a single reader? He’s as idiotic as he is disingenuous.

How does a person who at best is teetering on the edge of a nervous breakdown and possibly full-blown insanity offer “reality based advice”?

So Krugman’s theory is that Paul Ryan has never been accused of evil motives? Like commercials where he throws old ladies off of cliffs?
No, but it’s true, respected media sources like the NYT always give conservatives the benefit of the doubt. They really need to get their act together and start vetting those wingnuts.

Welcome to the world of Paul Krugman, where Spock does indeed have a beard, though Paul is probably far more focused on that cute little scar on Sulu’s cheek.

The opening has got to be the most awesome case of psychological projection ever displayed in public.

Wasn’t he awarded the Nobel prize for douchebaggery? (That’s a real award look it up)

“his policy proposals are all about redistributing income upward”
false premise. he assumes all our income belongs to the government and when the government takes LESS from those on the higher end of the income scale, then those government policies are redistributing upwards. all false narrative.
there is no reasoning with those on the left. if the MSM were doing its job and revealing the false narrative, then those on the left would simply disappear and the correct role of government would prevail.

And don’t forget to stop by Amazon to get your copy of “Reich and Krugman, the Clownishness of Bearded Economists”: in Three Volumes, by Fred Beloit, Hahvahd Press.

You are so right, I read the Krugman quote and was in shock ‘Conservatives never….never get accused of bad motives” really? Seriously?
This from the past three years where any, and readers here know this, ANY criticism of Obama was racist.

Any day is a good day to use Krugman as a punching bag. I doubt that any Marx-fearing leftie would hesitate to return the favor on Stalin’s birthday.

Anti Space-alien-defense? Now he’s opposing his own idea?

Correct, it needn’t be the right that perishes, hands bound and blindfolded in front of adobe walls.

So does that make you a pseudo-reasonable apparatchik or a professional centrist?

Krugman still doesn’t get he was given the Nobel Prize for his scholarship in economics, which any kindergaartner can figure out.
Maybe in his next life he can simply be a man of Integrity. That would Heaven or Hell, depending.

Perhaps you need to turn that laser-like critical focus on the Ayn Rand/ Paul Ryan budget. It’s a crowd- pleaser for the right because it cuts taxes—again—-for the 1% while simultaneously sticking it to constituencies you revile. But as a document to cut the deficit and get the country on what ya’ll allegedly want—a fiscally sound path—its a miserable failure. More so-called addition by subtraction, courtesy of supply-side fairy dust?

No, most of them are just power hungry and evil. Krugman is literally certifiable.
April 9th, 2012 @ 10:40 am
You object to my depiction of Ayn Rand disciple Paul Ryan’s budget? That’s a you problem. Just don’t whiz on my leg & tell me its raining by claiming that the Rand/Ryan budget provides any meaningful deficit reduction. Because that’s not its purpose.
April 9th, 2012 @ 10:51 am
Wouldn’t an actual Randian budget look very different? I think your best argument at tying this budget to old Ayn is the alliteration of Ryan and Rand, which I hope we can all agree is pretty damned thin.
Maybe you think people besides the moron in the White House think Ryan’s budget is particularly austere?
Sadly, as you correctly note, even the Ryan budget doesn’t go nearly as far as it undoubtedly should. Worse, it’s much farther than we’re likely to get this year towards actual progress on the budgetary front.

I actually like the guy and try to look past the gay marriage bullshit. He is funny sometimes. But then again, I always liked Sulu.
April 9th, 2012 @ 1:25 pm
You know what would be cool would be if your half-wit President or his fellow traitors in the Democrat Senate would actually produce a budget proposal. How long has it been now?
And speaking of whizzing on somebody’s back and telling them its raining, how about conceding that what the Democrat traitors are actually trying to do is completely destroy the economy so they can rebuild it on socialist lines.
As for Ryan, Obama Pelosi and Reid probably already have his cell at GITMO all picked out. After all, they did kind of hint at that when they called conservatives terrorists, didn’t they?
No wonder Obama never closed the place down like he promised.
