Trayvon Martin Case Discussed by Noted Civil Rights Leader … David Plouffe?

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana
When I had lunch Wednesday with Ali Akbar, he was talking about the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, and I had to confess that I didn’t know enough about the case to have an opinion. My main suggestions were (a) we shouldn’t “try the case in the media” by offering opinions based on incomplete knowledge provided by news accounts that might be misleading; and (b) we should urge people to calm down and let the justice system work.

Obviously, it’s a very bad thing for a kid to get shot while walking home from the store with Skittles, and it’s very difficult to understand why the cops didn’t arrest George Zimmerman, but I remember the way left-wing bloggers rushed to judgment in the 2009 Kentucky census worker case, and wouldn’t want to be a part of that kind of “trial by blog” reaction.

Besides, I’m covering a presidential campaign and I don’t need to get bogged down in . . . Wait! What’s this headline that just popped up at the top of Memeorandum?

Plouffe calls out GOP candidates
over Obama reaction

“Reprehensible.” “Irresponsible.” “Hard to stomach.”
White House senior adviser David Plouffe did not mince words Sunday when talking about the reaction by Republican presidential candidates Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich to President Barack Obama’s comments on the Trayvon Martin shooting.
“Those two comments are really irresponsible. I would consider them reprehensible,” Plouffe said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “I think those comments were really hard to stomach, really, and I guess trying to appeal to people’s worst instincts.” . . .
A somber Obama on Friday commiserated with the Martin family and urged authorities to fully investigate the shooting.
“If I had a son he would look like Trayvon,” Obama said. “I think (his parents) are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves and we will get to the bottom of exactly what happened.”
Santorum said the president politicized the events, while Gingrich characterized Obama’s comments as “nonsense.”
“What the president of the United States should do is try to bring people together, not use these types of horrible and tragic individual cases to try to drive a wedge in America,” Santorum said Friday on “The Hugh Hewitt Show,” a radio program.
“Is the president suggesting if it had been a white who had been shot, that would be OK because it wouldn’t look like him? That’s just nonsense,” Gingrich said Friday on conservative host Sean Hannity’s radio show, “The Hannity Show.” “I mean dividing this country up, it is a tragedy this young man was shot.”
But Plouffe, who served as Obama’s 2008 campaign manager, said the Republican reaction is evidence of a circus-like primary.
“I don’t think there’s very many people in America that would share that reaction. You know, this Republican primary at some points has been more of a circus show and a clown show,” Plouffe told CNN Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley.

Earth to CNN: David Plouffe is a Democrat. David Plouffe is a top political strategist. David Plouffe thinks it’s “reprehensible” anytime anybody says a negative word about Obama. Also, in case you didn’t notice, David Plouffe is whiter than a slice of Wonder Bread.

At a time like this, does America really need pious partisan sermons from self-righteous white liberals? I don’t think so.

And that is my opinion on the Trayvon Martin case.

Oh, I don’t know, Mr. Plouffe… I certainly agree with Rick Santorum’s statement.  Barack Obama has done his level best to exacerbate racial hate in this country throughout the campaign in 2008 and while he’s served as president.  While he ought to be seeing to it that justice is done, he shouldn’t be suggesting the authorities have “acted stupidly.”

But then, knowing he’s an adherent of CRT, it’s not surprising his attitude would be that justice is only for “whites”…

BTW, if Obama wanted to defuse a potentially volatile situation, he’d tell the New Black Panther Party that placing a “Wanted Dead or Alive” notice on Zimmerman doesn’t serve the cause of justice.

Funny how he hasn’t done that, innit?

I don’t know if it has occurred to the Obama campaign what a problem they will have if George Zimmerman is lynched.

The hypocrisy is deafening after years of complaints about young black men being sent to prison in just such situations.

I don’t see why the cops are being criticized for not arresting Zimmerman.  All the evidence at the scene and the witness accounts point to self-defense.  In some states, the practice is to file charges in such situations, and then have them dismissed with prejudice to forestall any civil liability on the citizen, but that’s got nothing to do with arresting the man at the scene.

IF this neighborhood were on some direct line between the convenience store and Martin’s father’s home, you can bet we’d have seen the maps to bolster the argument his presence was innocent.  I’m betting it isn’t on the way home.

The reports were that Martin was walking close to the houses and buildings – not on the sidewalk – and pulled up his hoodie only when he noticed he was being watched, at which time he took evasive action.  Nothing suspicious about that, right?  So he ducks around the community center building where a car can’t go, and Zimmerman follows on foot until the dispatcher tells him “we don’t need you to do that.”  He’s lost Martin anyway, and is walking back to his truck.

Next thing we know he is on the ground, screaming for help, with Martin on top of him, beating him.  This is no doe-eyed 12 year-old as the photo the media circulated, but a 6′ 2″ football player.  Two witnesses saw this much.

There is nothing in the record to indicate anything other than straightforward self-defense.  This is racist persecution by people who want money.  The “loving family” who didn’t even bother notifying anyone their son hadn’t been seen for three days in a city 200 miles from his home is all teary-eyed once their lawyer hints at a possible payday.

The “loving girlfriend” supposedly on the phone with Martin at the time didn’t come forward, didn’t call anyone to alert them of a problem, either.  Hmmm.  But once that lawyer and Sharpton come on the scene, the whole story is different.

I see no reason this poor man is being harassed, and will have to miss work, maybe lose his job, and have to pay a lawyer just to feed a bunch of race pimps.

Also, the guy’s Facebook page is filled with teary tributes – but until the controversy (nearly a month after the shooting), NONE of them express any anger or sense of outrage or hint of wrongful death,  just sorrow at the loss of their friend.   I suspect this is because his friends and family assumed he was up to no good and had the bad luck to get caught.

Good point.  I, too, have been wondering about that.  None of the news accounts I have seen have addressed this question, quite possibly for the reason you suggest.

And let’s not forget that commentary by elected officials and/or th9ae who are seeking office can prejudice a legal case. What if Zimmerman did commit the crime, and dis it for race? There would be no way to get his constitutionally guaranteed fair and impartial trial.

We’ve basically moved into frontier justice territory.

If THIS story by the Daily Caller is true, I will be withdrawing my endorsement of Rick Santorum and giving my support to Newt Gingrich:
    http://dailycaller.com/2012/03/25/santorum-zimmerman-has-a-very-sick-mind-motive-a-malicious-one/
According to the DC, Rick Santorum said that Mr. Zimmerman has a “sick mind” and that his motives were “malicious”. REALLY, Rick?  WTF???
Zimmerman was getting the shit beat out of him by a 6 foot 2 inch tall nearly 200 pound freaking football player when he shot the guy. The media has been pimping out an old photo of martin as a child and a photo of Zimmerman in prison orange, but that is not an accurate portrayal of either men! (Yes, MEN, at 17 Trayvon really wasn’t a little kid.)
Here’s the pictures the race hustling bigots don’t want you to see:
    http://i42.tinypic.com/1z4l3eq.jpg
And another thing, Mr. Zimmerman is a mixed race Hispanic man, not “white” as the agenda driven jackasses keep saying over and over and over again.
The new Black Panthers are offering $10,000 of Zimmerman’s assassination (isn’t that illegal?) and said they want to recruit 10,000 people to hunt Mr. Zimmerman down, including stalking him at his place of employment. Spike Lee and other black racists have published Mr. Zimmerman’s home address and telephone number publicly to twitter, endangering not just Mr. Zimmerman but his entire family and his neighbors.
And Rick Santorum decides to add fuel to the fire by spouting off an Obama style talking point, similar to but worse than Obama’s “acted stupidly” remark about the Cambridge cop and far more dangerous. Are you fucking kidding me? If that Daily Caller story is true and Rick really did say those things about Mr. Zimmerman, then he has effectively joined the fucking LYNCH MOB against a man who has not even yet been charged with a crime and if anything happens to Mr. Zimmerman or his family, then Rick will have a share of the blood on his hands.
I am so deeply disappointed in Rick Santorum right now, I really hope that this was a horrible misunderstanding and he makes it right, because if that doesn’t happen, I will want nothing further to do with him; and that breaks my heart as I was one of his earliest and, very vocal, public supporters.

At least Newt didn’t join the leftist LYNCH MOB against a Hispanic man who defended himself from a 6’2″ hulking thug who was beating the shit out of him. You’d think Rick would be smarter than to piss off the Latino voters like this, but he probably bought into the lie that Zimmerman is a “racist whitey” too since he appears to have fallen for all the other lies in this case as well.

Knee Jerk. Hardly. Obama is usually wrong about every fucking thing he jumps in the middle of. This tragedy is being used by all of the usual suspects to stir up racial tensions. By the way, did you hear about the 2 black kids in KC, 16 years old, attack and set on fire a 13 year old white kid?
