#Occupy St. Patrick’s Day: The Wearing of the Green and the Clearing of the Scum UPDATE: Did ‘Police Brutality Victim’ Cecily McMillan Attack Policeman?

St. Patrick’s Day, like New Year’s Eve, is one of those occasions when I carefully avoid alcohol because I refuse to drink with amateurs. But for many Americans, St. Patrick’s Day is a festive occasion celebrated with drunken revelry. Now imagine you’re a New York cop, looking forward to a Saturday night of green beer with your buddies, and you find out instead you’ve been assigned weekend overtime duty because a bunch of Commie freaks have decided to have a protest:
Scores of Occupy Wall Street protesters were arrested on Saturday night as police officers swept Zuccotti Park in Lower Manhattan and closed it.
Dozens of demonstrators sat down and locked arms as officers moved in about 11:30 p.m. The protesters chanted “we are not afraid” as the police began pulling people from the crowd, one by one, and leading them out of the park in handcuffs. . . .
(“We are not afraid”? By God, if they’re not, they should be. C’mon, NYPD, strike some fear in their hearts!)
The operation occurred after hundreds of people had gathered in the financial district to observe the founding of Occupy Wall Street six months ago. . . .
By 11:30 p.m., as police officers massed on Broadway, a commander announced that the park was closed. Those inside shouted back that the park was obliged through an agreement with the city to remain open. The commander then announced that anyone who remained inside would be arrested and charged with trespassing. . . .
(Whose streets? NYPD’s streets! You’ve been warned, Commies!)
By 12:20 a.m., a line of officers pushed against some of the remaining protesters, forcing them south on Broadway, at times swinging batons and shoving people to the ground.
Kobi Skolnick, 30, said that officers pushed him in several directions and that as he tried to walk away, he was struck from behind in the neck. “One of the police ran and hit me with a baton,” he said.
That’s the way to do it, NYPD! Give ’em a sweet taste of the nightstick!
But doesn’t NYPD have tasers? Jack ’em up with some high voltage!
Billy clubs, tasers, pepper spray, whatever it takes to keep Marxist scum off the streets of New York, do it. These whiny deadbeats are a menace to public safety — scabies! tuberculosis! rape! — and if they refuse to disperse peacefully, they have thereby declared war on the law-abiding citizens of New York, whom the NYPD are sworn to protect and serve.
There are reports that a handful of Occupy protesters were hospitalized with injuries. Unfortunately, it was only a handful, and none of those injuries were wounds from 9mm pistols or 12-gauge riot guns.
UPDATE: The Occupiers have claimed that one of their members, Cecily McMillan was the victim of police brutality. Sooper Mexican has details — including video — that appear to contradict that narrative:
Take a look at the video yourself. She clearly throws a nasty elbow at the cop next to her.
Read the whole Sooper Mexican post, as he has unearthed some interesting background on this left-wing protest pest, including her pride in being the grand-daughter of a founding member of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), the organization responsible for the infamous Chicago “Days of Rage” riot.
UPDATE II: Where does the Occupy movement end and the liberal media begin? Sometimes it’s hard to tell. The NY Observer‘s Steve Huff:
Occupy Wall Street Activist Cecily McMillan
Allegedly Beaten By N.Y.P.D.
Cecily McMillan, an Occupy Wall Street activist once profiled in Rolling Stone, suffered a seizure Saturday night during protest action near Zuccotti Park. Many on-scene reported Ms. McMillan had trouble breathing after she was tackled and handcuffed by law enforcement.
Is it your job, Mr. Huff, to publicize the tendentious propaganda claims of the Occupy movement? At this point it appears Ms. McMillan attacked a policeman prior to her arrest and that, whatever her medical condition may be, her arrest was an entirely lawful response by NYPD officers.
So, Mr. Huff: Why is the NY Observer paying you to promote these potentially phony victimhood claims on Ms. McMillan’s behalf? Are the Observer‘s editors, publisher and advertisers down with what would appear to be your pro-Occupy anti-cop agenda?
Hey, I’m just askin’ questions . . . And the NY Observer‘s toll-free phone number is (800) 542-0420. Be polite.

A buddy of mine who’s NYPD who was on site was telling me this morning that the brass sent an inordinate number of supervisors down to Zuccotti last night because, quote: “they knew we were ready to kick the shit out of those bastards for ruining Parade Day.”

I notice things are eerily quiet in Chicago.
March 18th, 2012 @ 1:10 pm
That is because in Chicago they still remember the riots at the Democratic convention. Do not screw with the Chicago police department…especially on St. Patrick’s Day.

heh, yeah, besides, don’t think the darling mayor has a problem with the cops busting some heads if it can be spun in his favor

If the “Occupy” movement has taught us anything, it is that those in major cities cannot rely upon the police to protect their lives or property. We all must be prepared to defend ourselves.
A dozen good men with nightsticks could have cleared the park in NYC in half an hour.

A half dozen rednecks from the upstate could have cleared the park in half an hour with fists and feet…or just a mean look.

They should just kill them, lol.

Clearing them is a good idea. Unnecessary force is not. A fire hose should do the job just fine.

I take a different view: as long as the only thing they are doing is being offensive to one’s sensibilities then you back off of them and hopefully with no attention they go away. Counter protest if possible — main thing, keep it civil.
I have no desire to see the cops brought in to break their skulls for being pains in the arse if that is all that they are doing (because if they are deemed and thusly handled, then next time it will be another group — so no, not good to go there and not good to be happy about it). Similarly, I don’t think it’s wise for private citizens to do the same if they are only guilty of offending sensibilities…as this is a case of civil unrest and then well, we know where that leads to.
The vicarious feelings of pleasure one may get from any of these things is bought with a price we perhaps do not want to pay in the end.
I’m afraid that there will be some rabble rousers that simply will not leave it at the pita level only this summer…and then everyone suffers…
The gods of the copybook headings are gearing up to give us one heck of a lesson again, same as it ever was.

Pop some CS Gas or some Pepper Spray and those Leftist Losers would be scattering like roaches and crying like babies.
March 18th, 2012 @ 3:33 pm
And wash all that diseased effluent into the Hudson? Think of the the fish, man!
March 18th, 2012 @ 3:47 pm
Some LGF loser on Twitter was excoriating me for my hyperbole. Guess he’s too stupid or too lazy to do a Google search.
Guernica, baby!
March 18th, 2012 @ 3:49 pm
But it would be their first bath in ages. If we can’t eliminate these Marxist scum with live ammo, at least we can eliminate their hippie pong.
March 18th, 2012 @ 3:50 pm
If we can’t break their skulls for being pains in the arse, is it OK to break their arses?
March 18th, 2012 @ 3:51 pm
“Never get between the NYPD and green beer.”
March 18th, 2012 @ 3:58 pm
Hyperbole? That thread is a fine example of a battle staff planning session.
March 18th, 2012 @ 3:59 pm
Normally I’d be one of the first to call out the cops if they engage in brutality and abuse of authority. But it’s perfectly clear the Occupiers had planned to provoke the NYPD. They should’ve enjoyed the St. Patrick’s Day parade instead of giving us an encore of this charade!
March 18th, 2012 @ 4:40 pm
Yes, I think it would be a good idea to gather up a posse of angry rednecks and go crack some hippie skulls.
But first, make sure you all are wearing the same color shirts or something like that, you know, so you don’t pummel each other by accident in the heat of the melee.
You’ll need a good chant too
March 18th, 2012 @ 5:22 pm
Only rhetorically — that’s an easy enough thing to do (and it’s a lot of fun, let me tell you).
March 18th, 2012 @ 5:41 pm
I learned a lot from it.
March 18th, 2012 @ 5:42 pm
Let me guess, you’re personal hero is Augusto Pinochet. Seriously, this is some unhinged shit. You need help.
March 18th, 2012 @ 6:05 pm
“Hey hey! Ho ho!
“Hippie Marxists have to go!”
March 18th, 2012 @ 6:12 pm
Let me give you some clues:
Earlier, Stacy referred to Guernica.
In the same comment, he used the term “hyperbole.
And when he asked us to call the NY Observer about the “reporting” of one of their “journalists”, Stacy admonished everyone to “be polite”.
Do these help? I hope so, ‘cuz you badly need some.

Rapes, murders, drug OD deaths, rats and pestilence, scabies, etc etc. Lets not forget the 1000’s of previous arrests.
Some judge who does not take kindly to repeat offenders should give each repeat arrestee a year in jail to think about things, then 3 more years of probation.
Firehoses are almost too good for this crowd, we need that new Pain-Ray in the hands of a crack team of hobo-killers and see how fast the pak can get cleared !

“Riot guns” is so… declasse. We Noo Yawkers refer to them as “street sweepers” or, when push comes to gun: “time’s up, Skippy.”
