Debbie Wasserman-Schultz Cites Virginia Ultrasound Law in Fundraising E-Mail
Posted on | March 10, 2012 | 17 Comments
The chairwoman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee cites an “atrocious” new Virginia law requiring ultrasounds prior to abortions as an attack on “women’s rights” in a fundraising e-mail sent to Democratic donors today.
“There are still 450 other bills on birth control and abortion in state legislatures across the country,” Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-Florida) wrote in the e-mail (full text below). “With a far-right faction of the GOP holding a majority in many of them, it’s unclear how many we can stop. But let me just say this: We need to be prepared to win in November. As long as women’s rights are being attacked, we’re going to keep fighting back — in Congress and in the states.”
The e-mail from Wasserman-Schultz also refers to Texas, which she says has “already eliminated two-thirds of their funding for women’s health, closing more than half of the state’s Planned Parenthood and other clinics,” saying that this “is denying hundreds of thousands of women access to basic health care.”

Friend —
Last week, I told you Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell was getting ready to sign the “ultrasound bill,” an atrocious proposal that would force all women considering abortions to get ultrasounds and require their doctors to ask if they’d like a picture.
Well, he signed it.
We didn’t stop the bill this time, but we did make sure the entire country knew exactly what was going down in Virginia.
There are still 450 other bills on birth control and abortion in state legislatures across the country. With a far-right faction of the GOP holding a majority in many of them, it’s unclear how many we can stop. But let me just say this: We need to be prepared to win in November.
As long as women’s rights are being attacked, we’re going to keep fighting back — in Congress and in the states.
Say that you’re ready to stand with Democrats as we stand up for women. Add your name today.
We’re taking on this fight both nationally and in the states. In Virginia, that meant helping to fund the state party’s rapid response communications team — they pushed back on the ultrasound legislation, supported the Democrats who opposed it, and publicized peaceful protests of it at the capitol. That work helped put this bill on the national radar.
Right now, New Hampshire, Florida, Arizona, Ohio, and many other states are considering similar legislation.
The Texas legislature is in the midst of a bitter fight to eliminate state support for a wide range of women’s health services. They’ve already eliminated two-thirds of their funding for women’s health, closing more than half of the state’s Planned Parenthood and other clinics. And now they’re voting to reject aid for the Medicaid Women’s Health Program. They claim they’re doing this to fight abortion, but what they’re actually doing is denying hundreds of thousands of women access to basic health care.
Clearly, this fight is about more than abortion and birth control.
I won’t stop speaking out across the country about a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions, and Democrats in the states won’t stop pushing back against these bills.
I hope you won’t stop fighting either.
Support the fight state by state and nationwide. Stand with the Democrats today:

Wouldn’t use of the word “atrocious” imply some sort of, you know, atrocity?

You have to wonder if they really believe what comes out of their mouths or if they just do it because they think people are just too stupid to know any better.

so the same ultrasound that pp does during the baby murder is only offensive if the state says they must do the procedure they’re already doing…….circular ain’t it

You perceive what I meant when I described the Democratic Party as “The Evil Coalition of Liars and Fools” — once you look at the dishonest propaganda that liars like DWS send to the fools who pay the Democratic Party’s bills, you understand how Morris Dees built a $200 million empire based on the McGovern ’72 donor mail list.

If DWS told the truth, would she melt like the witch in the “Wizard of Oz?”
Questions for DWS: did she refuse ultrasounds when she was pregnant with her children? Why didn’t she? Did she consider her children as human, or wait for their first birthday to roll around to approve their humanity since post-birth abortion is all the rage?

This needs to be cast in terms of preventing abortion of babies who are 8 1/2 month along the way to being born.

She might have been searching for a good rhyme for “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” – Roger Sherman died this week, he co-wrote that and “Feed the Birds” “It’s a Small World” and many other Disney songs with his brother Robert.
O/T but always relevant, too: Phil Bergman died yesterday. He was 72, a co-founder of Firesign Theater. And MUCH funnier than Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, even without a fright wig.

If guilty white liberals can feel good about themselves without breaking a sweat or getting their hands dirty or actually having to handle any nasty poor children just by writing a check, they will.

I’m shocked……shocked at a politician using advocacy for a political position to raise funds. It’s……it’s indecent! LOL.

Your Mom called – your basement is cleaned out, please pick her up $100 worth of contraceptives on the way home.

It circles around the real problem.
It’s offensive only when they have to show it to the mother.

All of their so called “post-modern” logic is really nothing but a Ponzi scheme of lies. In order to keep the game going, the have to keep telling them or the whole thing collapses but they will continue until it does.
I wrote this about BHO and his sycophants about a year ago:
His protectors are legion. They are from all classes because he represents something different to each of them. In the prologue to the second of his autobiographies, “The Audacity of Hope,” he said:
“I serve as a blank screen on which people of vastly different political stripes project their own views.”
They are willing to cover for him because he is black, he is a liberal, he is a lawyer, a community organizer, an elitist, an academic, a leftist politician, a supporter of feminism/abortion, and he is a product of the welfare state and affirmative action. He has tentacles reaching into every bastion of liberal thought. His supporters and defenders look at him and see themselves – every attack on Obama is a personal attack on them, every criticism is a personal affront.
What they didn’t count on was his immaturity of leadership, his indecision and his incompetence. They rushed the incubation of the embryonic Liberal Superman by a few years and birthed him too early. His political gestation was not complete, so instead of a Teflon-coated Liberal SuperReagan stepping forth fully formed from the womb, they got a incomplete, underdeveloped and inexperienced version of Jimmy Carter.

If under the auspices of Women’s Health, shouldn’t a woman be shown the “disease” before she accepts a “cure”? I mean, if a doctor is going to saw off my leg, I’d kinda like to know which parts are too gangrenous to save and which must go. Some doctors are known for yanking out tonsils and amputating things just to make a buck. President Obama told me so.
Since this is all about women’s health and nothing at all else.

Forget about it Sonny.
