Joe The Plumber, Coming To A Congress Near You?

Samuel “Joe” Wurzelbacher, an earlier recipient of a Fatwah Of Love (FOL), from the Left, will go against Marcy Kaptur in a new Ohio district this fall.
Wurzelbacher hasn’t exactly been embraced by the Republican establishment, largely because GOP officials regard the northeastern Ohio-based 9th District as tilting heavily Democratic and an unlikely November pickup. The National Republican Congressional Committee hasn’t bothered to add Wurzelbacher to its “Young Guns” program for top recruits. After Kaptur beat Kucinich, “Joe the Plumber” will now face the veteran Democrat in the fall.
Yeah, Joe can be relied upon to be even less disciplined than Alan West in his approach to dealing with our Ruling Class Overlords. Go, Joe!

They combined two Democratic districts which had been gradually becoming lighter blue into a single district, eliminating a Democratic seat from the delegation (Ohio lost in the Census). That district is liable to be chock full o’ Democrats now.
Put it this way: if we are unseating Kaptur in November, it will be because of the biggest Republican wave EVER.
If you have unlimited funds, send money to Joe the Plumber. If you have to pick and choose, choose a battle we might actually win.
March 7th, 2012 @ 7:47 pm
Thanks for the coverage. I’ve not seen a lot about the down ticket primaries. I assume that means that we don’t have many conservative challengers this round.

I’m in. Go Joe!
March 7th, 2012 @ 9:30 pm
TheBritish Parliment of 1775 had the same contempt for the Colonialist in Americas as our presnt congress has for the Tea Party
…and how did that work out?
March 7th, 2012 @ 9:30 pm
Joe won’t be well received by the GOP idiots running things in Ohio, no matter what type of district he runs in. They hated Ken Blackwell, and went with the Squish Bob Taft who so damaged our brand in Ohio that it gave Ted Strickland a Gov. Strickland was an officeholder in Congress. He did almost nothing in congress, but he made a huge mess once he got to the state house.

NOT ONE RED CENT!

They lost Kucinich who is now returning to either his home planet…or MSNBC. So who knows? It is all gravy . But in my week of link whoredom, I will link this TOM to my Kucinich post earlier today.
March 7th, 2012 @ 10:35 pm
Actually, the 9th District is one of the most blatant gerrymanders in, well, ever. (Yet Maryland still puts them to shame.) I hate to say that but I gotta call a spade a spade.
Obviously it was effective in eliminating Dennis Kucinich but unfortunately we still have to contend with Marcy Kaptur and she’s almost as bad. (I was captive in her district for much of my adult life, so I know.)But whoever wrote the article misunderstands the geography, since the 9th traditionally has been a northwest Ohio district until the last decade – until 2002 it was essentially the city of Toledo and close-by suburban areas until the city lost population. The district began migrating eastward along the Lake Erie shoreline in the last decade, and that’s likely why Kaptur won – she was more familiar to most of the Ninth District Democrats with the exception of those on the far eastern reaches of the district. But I have to agree with Quartermaster – those in charge of the Ohio GOP are, by and large, idiots who believe in anointing candidates and they probably won’t back Joe because he’s not paid his dues in the party.
There may be one redeeming factor, though – apparently Kaptur ran a scorched-earth campaign in the Cleveland market and there may be enough Reagan Democrats there who respected Kucinich for his willingness to fight for them to vote for Joe out of spite to Kaptur to give him a fighting chance. But it’s likely that Saint Marcy – who I named such because the local rag thinks she does no wrong – will win.

March 7th, 2012 @ 11:51 pm
Lugar in Indiana is the big RINO target this cycle – he might have been completely ignored if not for taking full page ads in all the papers saying “SCREW THE TEA PARTY! SCREW YOU CONSERVATIVES! YOU WANNA PIECE OF ME?” and telling Darleen Click to fetch him some coffee – pronto!

My guess, while he is leaving congress, is he is not going away.
March 8th, 2012 @ 5:59 am
Also, some states (like VA) hold Presidential primaries separate from the rest of the primary. I believe we hold them in June. I wouldn’t be surprised if other early states do the same.
March 8th, 2012 @ 10:33 am
Michigan, too.
March 8th, 2012 @ 10:34 am
If Joe was smart he’d run for the State Legislature. Then he might have a shot, depending on what area he has to run in, and he would have a chance to learn the ropes, and then later run for statewide office. He wouldn’t even be elected to the State Senate where he’s at now the way things stand in that district.
