Yid With Lid Raises A Provocative Question On Senator Ted Stevens

There are enough layers of indirection here that the Lid’s causal question is more than a little coy: “Did Justice Dept. Malpractice Kill Senator Ted Stevens?” But the WSJ says:
. . .the blame for the 60th [ObamaCare] vote really belongs to the U.S. Justice Department.
That’s the day a federal court has ordered the release of an independent report on Justice’s “systematic concealment” of evidence. Specifically, the report ordered by Judge Emmet Sullivan found that federal attorneys prosecuting the late Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska hid “significant exculpatory evidence which would have independently corroborated [his] defense and his testimony, and seriously damaged the testimony and credibility of the government’s key witness.”
The case seems to be that Senator Stevens was the victim of a gross miscarriage of justice. While ‘gross miscarriage of justice’ is par for the Eric Holder course, and one would be naive to think Stevens was severely angelic, the notion of a fair trial is still an American ideal. Isn’t it? Holder has done a thoroughgoing job of sodomizing the notion.
And how is this going to look for #OccupyResoluteDesk? Admittedly, it’s really not possible for him and his sad pack of jackwagons to look much worse. But what this blog hopes people get out of this, and the Sandra Fluke story, is that Obama. Must. Go. He will write out a stack of pardons for his ghoulish little creepshow cast, and they can all find the Commie lecture circuit, golf course, whatever.
However, I don’t care if Zeeba the Syphilitic Camel limps its gangrenous, spavined carcass out of the GOP Convention. If you fail to support that camel, you are risking the continuation of the Obama Administration. Sure, I think all the candidates suck. It’s fun to say: ‘I cannot tell the difference between Obama and that doof you support, and will not vote for him.’ But when you look at Holder, Sebelius, Napolitano, &c, it’s hard to conclude that such primary season airs are rational. Maybe it is possible to conclude that, say, a Ron Paul administration would somehow achieve worse depths of fascism than we’ve seen from Chicago-on-the-Potomac. I just don’t see how.
Ted Stevens, love him or hate him, really got bent over. Tempting though it is to think about going all Hammurabi on the Obama Administration, I do hope we cleave to the moral high ground here, kick them all out of office, and work to keep them all separated from levers of power until they join Stevens wherever he went.

My late husband used to call what happened to Stevens “framing the guilty”. One of it’s great dangers is that it’s _very_ emotionally satisfying. Unfortunately, the damage it does to the nation’s legal system doesn’t _feel_ as immediate so it’s easy to think “Well, I know I _shouldn’t_ but this guy deserves it so much, I’m sure it won’t hurt just this once”.

Although you guys have never been political isolationists, it’s pathetic to see some of the big war-type blogs suddenly pretending to making nicey nice with the Paul supporters by tempering their remarks. It won’t work. If the GOP wants to gain any of the Paul support in the general, they’re going to need to at least pretend to add some of his planks to their platform. This whole “but Obama is worse!” nonsense didn’t fly in 2008, and it won’t fly now. Nor should it.
The Republicans aren’t anti-fascist. They supported Obama’s right to declare war without any input from Congress, they’re perfectly happy allowing the government to trample the Constitution as long as it’s part of the Patriot Act, they cheered when the Constitution’s clear dictates on how to handle treason were tossed aside in the name of brute force, and they only managed to mildly feign outrage when Obama announced that the president could order people killed if a secret court gave a the nod.
The problem between Paul and the GOP is the fact that he refuses to disregard the law when it suits him, while the GOP is perfectly content with that policy. That gives them the chance to use that classic spineless whine, “but the Democrats did it too!” while clinging tightly to the newly grabbed powers.
Ron Paul has stated that Holder’s team should be arrested for treason, because they called for a false flag operation specifically with the intent of politically undermining the second amendment. One can conclude that he would also support indictments for obstruction of justice in the Stevens case.
That’s not fascism – that’s patriotic. What we have now is bordering on fascism, and electing Romney or Santorum won’t change it.

Five points for using the word “spavined.” Ten points taken away for using anal rape as a metaphor.

Smitty ought to get a fifty point bonus for working the metaphor in there because that’s exactly what we’re getting…a harsh reaming by the Leftists in DC right now.

All of that may be true, but an article like this just can’t be considered properly written if it neglects to mention that Senator Stevens was tried in 2008, when George Bush was still in office and the Attorney General was a Republican. Eric Holder may be an [insert slang term for the rectum here], but it was under his Justice Department that the charges were dismissed.

As usual liberals leave out facts… such as the fact that that Bush era Justice Department donated money to Obama by a 2-1 margin. Next?
