Virginia Right points to Open Secrets, where, nestled cosily amongst the usual suspects for a Democrat, we see Bain Capital supporting former governor Timmy Kaine in his bid to replace Jim “Browser” Webb in the Senate.

“Just how Conservative is Mitt Romney?” asks Virginia Right. The CPAC propaganda arrived today, and I see Willard Mitt is on the agenda. Hopefully it goes better than the Protecting the American Dream Summit in November, where WMR went over like the Beatitudes in a synagogue.

This is so OT (sort of). But here goes.

    You ask in:

    http://spectator.org/archives/2012/01/10/ron-paul-haunts-new-hampshire

why Ron Paul is so popular with the youth. You know – the future of the party. There are two reasons –

    1. The War On Drugs is a war on youth. Why wouldn’t they rally behind a candidate who has been against it like forever?

    2. The Debt – which they will be paying. Ron is the only candidate who is serious about that.

On the Drug War it is almost as if the Rs had a death wish – driving the youth towards the Democrats and libertarians.

And the same thing on Debt. The mainstream Rs will wreck the country with debt. Just slower than the Democrats. We hope.

Well anyway, I’m going to write a bit on the future of the Rs at Classical Values should the topic interest you.

You left out another big reason youth voters support Paul. They’re fucking stupid as hell.

Somehow the Progressive GOP ‘smart’ just hasn’t won the youth over.

Of course, the guy they’re backing is statistically likely to drop dead halfway into his first term.

I shouldn’t have been that harsh, but come on, are you saying that anything even slightly to the left of Ron Paul is progressive? His foreign policy is a progressive wet dream. Santorum said it best. The good things Ron Paul supports he could never accomplish and the bad things he supports he could do starting day one.

Note the companies listed didn’t donate directly, their names come from the employer disclosures, so the money was given by individual employees who listed the company as their employer.

Note also that Romney hasn’t been with Bain in about 20 years.

And here I thought Ann Coulter was the only conservative Grateful Dead fan. I’m going to go out and buy a hat to tip to you.

(Not really. Cold as heck and I’m cheap. How about a morning coffee toast instead?)

Having been a musician for over thirty-five years, I will never understand the appeal of The Dead.  And I like every genre of music.

I think it was more their live performances than their recordings. Bear in mind if you went to a Dead concert and didn’t drop acid you weren’t really there.

If you have to drop acid to really appreciate the band, isn’t that an indicator that in real life the band actually sucks?

There used to be a radio station here in Atlanta that frequently did specialty music weekends, and one of my favorites was the ‘Dylan, Doors and Dead’ weekends, where everything they played was from Bob Dylan, the Doors, or the Grateful Dead.

    Man,  I miss those weekends.

    From Stephen Wright:

“I went to see the Grateful Dead recently.  They played for nine hours.  Great song.”

Maybe. I don’t think anybody in their audience stayed straight long enough to find out for sure.

Reminds me of an old joke: What did the Dead fan say when the pot ran out?

    ‘Man, this music sucks!’
