‘Gentleman’ Jim Moran: “Naaah, VA-8 Residents Don’t Need A Vote”

Via Patrick Murray, we have this tidbit about ‘Gentleman’ Jim, always looking out for Virginianshimself:
Jim Moran said Northern Virginia was more reflective of the D.C. metro area than the rest of the state.
“We’d all be better off if they took the Virginia and Maryland suburbs and made them part of the district,” he said. “But that’s not going to happen, so we’re dependent on what happens in Richmond.”
So, thanks, Jim. In a twisted sense, Moran is arguably correct: VA-8 residents could be better off grouped in a place entirely without Congressional representation than with Moran providing serial embarrassment. The ironic historical angle on this is that Alexandria, Virginia actually was a part of the District until 1847.
I’ve got a splendid idea: let’s give Jim Moran to the District, and remove a sad little stain from the fabric of Virginia.

I was just thinking this morning that you haven’t had a photo of the little guy in a while. I see that he’s coming along very nicely.

I think Itty Bitty Smitty is on his way to becoming a fine young man, warrior for The Republic, and a credit to you and Mrs. Smitty.

Arlington County, not Alexandria, was a part of the District of Columbia. Notice on a map how the shape of Arlington “completes the square”.

I’d be all for it. Make DC, NOVA and PG and Montgomery counties one separate state, and both Md. And Va. turn hard red.

Uh no. I fled DC to Alexandria and don’t ever want to be part of that again.

As an Alexandria resident, Dave, I’d like to invite you to take a walk east on Duke Street. When you get to the waterfront? Keep walking.
Also, if you think just peeling off the DC suburbs is going to be enough to turn Maryland red, put down the bong and look at the election results there. The only parts of the state that are even remotely conservative are west of Frederick County (inclusive) and the Eastern Shore. Go find a map and your Crayolas and color in the rest of the state. You’ll figure it out.

Although DC residents have brought a great deal of their troubles upon themselves, many more have been wrought by federal “help.” After WWII, there was a thriving black middle class, more black-owned businesses than in the rest of the country combined. But many of the neighborhoods were aging, and the do-gooders decided to “renew” them by erecting Stalin-era architectural atrocities which constituted a new form of spiritual slavery. And that was only the beginning.
To suggest that a place so afflicted by liberal “compassion” for more than half a century be subjected further to Jim Moran is cruelty beyond the imagination of the Manson Family. As Rick Perry might say, “You have no heart!”

Not only does he have no heart, I’m pretty sure there’s not much of a brain left in there after decades of determined drinking.

Yes, but I included a link to the Wikipedia page on the topic of maximal pedantic value.

Methinks Bitty Smitty’s final comment on the situation will be a couple hours after the peas have digested….
