Prayer For The Egyptian Christians

Christianity seems to make one a punching bag in the Middle East in general, and Egypt in particular:

Under US and international law, growing numbers of Egyptian Christians will qualify as refugees if these conditions continue to worsen.
For Americans, the persecution of religious believes in other countries is more than a foreign policy problem. Russian persecution of the Jews in the 19th century led millions of Jews to immigrate to the United States between 1880 and the start of World War One. Religious and ethnic minorities fled to the US from all over Europe and the Middle East in the old days. One reason that so few Christians remain in most of the Middle East is that the United States primarily, but other western countries as well, have allowed millions of Christian Arabs to escape — in some cases looking for security and an end to persecution, and in others for better economic opportunity and the absence of discrimination.

For one of ‘those’ Evangelical Christians, I cut strongly against the usual SoCon reading, trending libertarian on federal issues. The New Testament is between individuals and the Almighty, not a foreign policy manual.

Still, one would hope that our good Christian POTUS would recall:

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
By this shall all [men] know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John 13:34,35

and help the Egyptian Christians to the greatest extent possible, while coloring within the lines of the law. If BHO can be bothered while chilling out in Hawaii, that is.

Some people face persecution for their faith.  Not just snide comments and mockery, but real persecution.

Rick Santorum will speak out for them, and has spoken out for them. Our president will not.

Unfortunately, Obama is more concerned with bringing in entire muslim communities who are not facing persecution or discrimination of any kind and without background checks, into this country than he is about helping persecuted Christians who are suffering horribly from islamic genocidal oppression. Obama has Muslim Brotherhood in his cabinet , one of whom turned away Eastern Christian leaders from being able to communicate with the WH and he lets the pro-islamic supremacist UN dictate who gets to come here which puts Christians very low on the list. I wrote about it recently, but instead of sending you to a long post at my place, read about it at Atlas:

This is true, and something moving closer to home.

This is not a mark in the President’s favor, and I hope that you can read through the understatement here. 🙂

Well I could see a flood of Copt refuges applying to come to the United States.  But fortunately, Christian persecution (other than mockery of Tebow) is not the norm here (yet).

President Obama does not care.  They are not his base and he sees no upside in helping anyone who can’t help him.  It is the Chicago way.

Michael Totten brings a slightly different view to light in Egypt-

I think this helps explain the Muslim response to our support for Christians.

This is unfortunately the case — everything that she has said, and many Republicans would not be any better about it (it would be interesting to hear them called on it…but, but racism, we mustn’t be mean to people even to the point of asking why we are taking so many muslims when it has been Chaldeans, Copts, and Sudanese Christians who have suffered slaughter the most).
