Perry Iowa TV Ad Attacks Newt Gingrich as ‘K Street,’ Mitt Romney as ‘Wall Street’

Now that the debates are over and Rick Perry can’t be forced to defend his attacks, he goes negative on both Republican front-runners:
“He’ll overhaul Washington and toss out the corrupt insiders.”
Yeah, Rick Perry’s going to clean up the corruption:
Since 2001, more than a fifth of the $83 million that Mr. Perry has raised for his gubernatorial campaigns has come from people he appointed to state boards and commissions, according to a study by Texans for Public Justice, a watchdog group. Just 150 individuals and couples gave him $37 million of that total, and nearly half received substantial tax breaks, business contracts or appointments from Mr. Perry, The Los Angeles Times reported.
The governor set up two state funds, intended to promote business growth, that have given tens of millions to companies that returned the favor with political contributions. An analysis by The New York Times found that more than a quarter of the companies that have received grants from the Texas Enterprise Fund in the last year, or their executives, had made contributions to Mr. Perry’s campaigns dating back to 2001 or to the Republican Governors Association since 2008, when Mr. Perry became its chairman.
The Texas Emerging Technology Fund . . . has provided $200 million in seed money to high-tech start-ups since 2005 . . .
[Perry’s] office makes the decision on which companies should receive the money, according to The Dallas Morning News, which found that more than $16 million had gone to campaign donors.
You know, I remember attending a speech Labor Day weekend where somebody talked about the problem with “crony capitalism.” Looks like there’s a sort of Solyndra thing going on in the Lone Star State.
But never mind me: I’m just a “low-information” guy, not part of the AOSHQ/Red State Rick Perry Blog Bandwagon, and here’s the punishing kick-in-the-head Brutal Headline O’ Th’ Day:
Big Bloggers Fall in Line for Rick Perry
So this leaves us minor, inconsequential bloggers out in the cold. Further confirmation — as if more confirmation were needed — that everybody hates me, which is why I’m “Not Good Enough for BlogCon.”

Maybe you don’t get invited to BlogCon because you use smear tactics like the above, implying wrongdoing on Perry’s part. Contributors always end up with cushy appointments – it’s a vestige of the old patronage system. You progressives love you some civil service rules, though, since they have resulted in so much more bureaucratic accountability, right? At least under pure patronage, you always know who to blame and someone is held responsible.
Similarly, the individuals and businesses with most at stake in a state’s economy will always take part in the process and donate to the most friendly side. Evil capitalists, donating to the Republican Perry instead of those nice Democrats who would give their money to the little guy, right?
Show a state where this is not so before implying it is unusual and untoward – if not outright corrupt, as you suggest with the Solyndra reference.
Getting tough on Perry after dismissing him completely doesn’t show much confidence in Santorum’s Big Mo.

By the time the candidates are finished shredding each other, none of them will be found appealing to the rest of the country.

Rick Perry is an islamoblow who says “islam is a religion of peace”, and that’s all I ever needed to know about the guy, but there is so much more. Too bad all the so-called “smart people” are still drunk on the Perryberry Koolaid – they are as bad as Paulbots and Obamazombies and just as nasty, very much like their Texas messiah who they think is GOP Jesus.

I’m curious, Stacey: Would you consider the NYT and LAT equally reliable in their coverage of Santorum that’s helped make him an entry in the Urban Dictionary? Just asking….
Zilla, I live with the guy and your description doesn’t fit what I’ve seen.
Of course, I’m torn: I’d like to have him here in TX to lead the secession when ORomney takes us off the cliff.

What’s funny is that while you pretend that Perry is of little or no consequence you continually blog about him. Mehtinks thou protest too much.

Maybe it has something to do with the tag line under this blog’s name. Perhaps this blog is trying to point out some things that seem off key about Perry which run counter to what many of the rest of the right side bloggers are saying. It’s good to have dissenting voices.
It’s right to call Perry out on this and other things. To many have invested him with some sort of savior like status — kinda reminds me of somebody else and his supporters, don’t you think?
Perry is a crony capitalist and appears to have a very unsavory history of supporting anyone who supports him (and taking down people who don’t or who don’t support his supporters) — that would be all well and good for a king or dictator to act in such a way, but it isn’t something I want to see in a president of a republic. His glib remarks about constitutional amendments for this and that also point this sort of behavior, and are, in my mind, very troubling.
We all have our choices as to who we will vote for or will not — Perry falls into the latter category for me (and ironically my decision came about thanks to the wholehearted support for him I witnessed on those other blogs; in particular the whole Pam Gellar incident: in trying to determine whether or not she and Spencer were being unfair to Perry, I became more aware of him…funny how that works out; I suppose I owe a certain moron horde many thanks).

Now, Stacy, “Big Bloggers” and “All the Big Bloggers” are not the same thing. You know better than to lump me among those who discount you!

It isn’t so much his “dhimmitude” that alarms me as a statement he made defending Muslims — something along the lines of they are good conservatives, good supporters.
It was that last description that caught my eye. It is one thing to defend American muslims right to live as citizens of this country within the social contract (in this they have as much right as anyone else); it is quite another to advance the notion that they are somehow a special group (and thus above the social contract), and it is quite another still to seemingly imply that they will get a sort of special group status as long as they tow the party line and particularly support an individual politician.

So, as long as the fellow has an R behind his name it’s ok?
As long as the other side does it, it’s ok?
I will flip this on you: then Blago should be your guy…at least if he would switch party affiliations.

“You progressives” — make me laugh!

Thanks for attempting to comfort me, Jimmie, but we see how the cookie crumbles. It’s a repeat for the BlogCon exclusion scenario.
All the important bloggers got together and decided on this Perry thing. The opinions of unimportant bloggers were not solicited.
Welcome to Siberia, comrade.

Stacy for the win!

Don’t worry, when Perry drops out after South Carolina because he hasn’t finished in the top three in IA or NH or SC, his supporters will all have to find another candidate to get behind.
