UPDATE: Necessary Correction

Posted on | December 14, 2011 | 48 Comments

Once you’re deemed “Not Good Enough for BlogCon,” it’s just a matter of time before people decide you’re Not Good for Anything Else.

Hat-tip to A Blog That Matters.

UPDATE: I’m told that the fine print on the “Best Blogs” list explains that contributors to Right Wing News (of which I am one) were not eligible for inclusion on the list, so therefore:

  1. I’m OK with John Hawkiins;
  2. I’m too stupid to read  the fine print; and
  3. I’m still “Not Good Enough for BlogCon.”

Don’t mind the bleeding, Doc. Just give me something for the pain.

UPDATE II: By the way, “Deep Fried Manatees” is an awesome name for a blog, no matter what PETA tries to tell you.

Check the comments. You write at RWN, so you’re not eligible for the list. 🙂

I think it’s funny that you seem to have found out only because you read Ace of Spades.

While I’m happy to agree with you when you label yourself a “conservative,” perhaps others aren’t so broad in their interpretation of the term as to include gonzo Dixiecrat peckerwood populism under that umbrella.

You write for RWN. You’re not eligible.

Protein Wisdom got dissed but that is because Roger Simon got mentally bludgeoned too many times by Jeff Goldstein.

    December 14th, 2011 @ 10:18 pm

Glad Stacy did not get dissed.  He is still smarting from Tabatha Hale shunning.

    Why no Protein Wisdom?

“Gonzo” I will accept; “populism” with reservations and caveats. However, if RSM is a “Dixiecrat” and a “peckerwood”, I would not be reading him, so I must wave a card of objection.

Unless, that is, RSM decides that this description suits him right down to his toenails, in which case I shall delete this remark.

Well Lisa & Mr. Hawkins have already explained why you’re not on the list, and it has nothing to do with your awesomeness, but also, keep in mind that while of course it is an honor for people to be names as important bloggers, Mr. Hawkins says right in the intro that it’s based solely on his opinion, so it is subjective.
Stacy, you could do a Top 40 list too and leave out whomever you chose, for that matter, so could I (of course I don’t have the legions of fans that you do so it wouldn’t really matter to anyone but my own readers), or any other blogger –  if it is based on one person’s opinion only, then all it shows is that the person who assembled the list likes those blogs, it doesn’t really reflect on the quality of the blogs listed or not or lack thereof.
Maybe I will make up a list this year, and only include my own favorites, it might not have all the fanfare of a RWN list, but it would certainly have The Other McCain in a place of high honor on it!
But what to call it? The First Annual _____ Awards. I’ll have to work on it, titles have never been my strong suit, other than the ones that include telling various totalitarians to shove things.

I didn’t make the list either, but I’m pretty sure John Hawkins doesn’t know I’m alive.

That, and I’ve probably made one too many comments about being less than enthused about political blogs that use girlie pics to attract viewers (no offense, Stacy).

    December 14th, 2011 @ 11:04 pm

The good Knappster is quoting various Stacy self-stylings as arguments that he’s too unorthodox for consideration, and therefore Stacy shouldn’t be surprised to “fall in the mud and get kicked… in the head… with an iron boot“.

“Peckerwood populism” is a neologism of my own coinage (see here and here).

I guess the Dixiecrat part is gratuitous insofar as peckerwood populism encompasses the remnants of Dixiecratism.

Stacy, due to his hailing Bob Barr as the reincarnation of George Wallace, is the prototype peckerwood populist.

I would recommend the cherries soaked in moonshine, but you have to live in New York to get them mail order.

UPDATE II: By the way, “Deep Fried Manatees” is an awesome name for a blog, no matter what PETA tries to tell you.

Don’t laugh, I know a friend of mine who actually ate mantee (well they were in the Pacific so they were dugongs) while in the Peace Corps. What does manatee/dugong taste like? Prime rib like you would get in the best steak house. There is a reason sailors called them “Sea Cows.”

I added Deep Fried Manatees to my blogroll, thanks for letting me know about it! You know what? That would also be a fabulous name for an Indonesian Punk Rock Band. And now that I am aware that the sharia tyrants over there hate them some punk rock kids, I loves me some Indonesian Punk Rock!

Thank you for putting me in the FMJRA award spot, Stacy, it is indeed a high honor!

His response to criticism over his assertions that the right blogosphere was gonna die a “slow, painful death”, was to refer to critics as “buzzsaws”. I wonder if this had anything to do with that?

Needless to say, I ain’t on his faves list. LOL
