NYPD Clears Out Occupiers

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg on Tuesday defended his decision to clear the park in Lower Manhattan that was the birthplace of the Occupy Wall Street Movement, saying “health and safety conditions became intolerable” in the park where the protesters had camped out for nearly two months. . . .
“New York City is the city where you can come and express yourself,” the mayor said. “What was happening in Zuccotti Park was not that.” He said the protesters had taken over the park, “making it unavailable to anyone else.”
The mayor’s comments at a City Hall news conference came about seven hours after hundreds of police officers moved in to clear the park after warning that the nearly two-month-old camp would be “cleared and restored” but that demonstrators who did not leave would face arrest. The protesters, about 200 of whom have been staying in the park overnight, initially resisted with chants of “Whose park? Our park!”
The police commissioner, Raymond W. Kelly, said that nearly 200 people had been arrested, 142 in the park at 50 to 60 in the streets nearby. Most were held on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Via Memeorandum. Isn’t it weird that, in a city of 8 million people, a few hundred “Occupiers” could be portrayed as the spearhead of a broad-based popular movement? I mean, it’s almost as if there were some kind of bias in the media coverage or something.

Bloomy must have seen them smoking and eating transfats.

A moonbat judge has issued an order saying that the occupy squatters are above the law and exempt from having to follow the same laws as everybody freaking else. Regular people have NO rights to live in peace unmolested and enjoy being able to live, work, or pass through NYC now.

Progressive logic: The OWS campers are the spearhead of a broad-based popular movement because the great majority of people would support OWS if only they were sufficiently self-aware.
Sure, large numbers of people claim not to support movements like OWS because they’ve been brainwashed by Faux News and other elements of the Neoliberal Order, but either they don’t know any better, or they’re economic criminals who benefit from human exploitation and therefore do not count as being among “the people.” If those people who do count as people, though, were only taught to see the truth – however much reeducation that might require – they would certainly support the OWS movement.
Therefore, it IS a broad-based movement: all of the people’s people who aren’t misinformed support OWS.

Well it isn’t as if we didn’t already know that we needed to abolish the judicial system.
November 15th, 2011 @ 11:48 am
That judicial order is so absurd, it’s almost frightening.
How did we allow this country to get to this point? We’re now allowing 50-year old Caligulas to dress up in robes and pretend to be judges and we’re actually supposed to take their “orders” seriously?
The idea of judicial authority ceases to function when the very meaning of authority is dismantled. Authority is a two-part concept: not just raw, arbitrary power, but power exercised by those with intellectual/moral “authority” (knowledge, wisdom, training, expertise, reason, etc.).
When ridiculous little clowns start issuing judicial orders, either we must take serious stock of our decaying foundations, or we prepare to slide into the abyss.

Yes, they had forbidden doughnuts with illegal polyunsaturated hydrogenated oils.
But ironically Bloomy did not care too much about the dope, even if it was in smoking form.

No live ammo was used.
Unfortunately.

By that logic, the Tea Party can occupy public spaces as long as they want, too.
Of course, they should bill the mayors for the cleanup they always do.

The #OccupyFailure crowd needs to prepare for global warming (otherwise known as “winter”).
Here’s some funny cartoons from Josh over at WUWT, about ALGORE’s Climate Reality A Thon (For Jerry’s kids! or something).
See what I did there? Totally off-topic, man.

Zucotti Park is privately owned, which makes the judicial “order” especially absurd.
November 15th, 2011 @ 1:03 pm
This is what happens when you have a spineless leader who is more afraid of offending his base than of doing the job.
The first night they broke the rules, Bloomberg should have demanded the private realty firm which owns and manages the park either clean it up immediately, ask for City help, or bear full liability for everything, including lost business and police and rescue OT. And then started billing them from Day One.
Once they decided it was not legal, they should have given the protestors two hours to clear out, then gone in with water cannons and night sticks to crack some damn hippy skulls.
ALL of the problems with these things, the people killed, the women and children raped, the business lost, the damages to property, and the disease spread are all at the feet of the stupid Mayors who allowed them to violate the laws in the name of some “progressive” ideal.

I was just reading the report at the NY Daily News on the judge who issued the restraining order. Two things: (1) she’s been taken off the case because she was a lawyer for the ACLU for many years and (2) she looks like Iowahawk’s deranged sister.
