Lawrence Weschler is in need of prayer for his mental health:

So here’s my fantasy.

Chelsea gets pregnant, such that Hillary retires, around the middle of next year, to pursue a fresh, well-earned career as doting grandmother.

Obama has to choose a new secretary of state and appoints Joe Biden (the position the latter always wanted anyway).

By that point the coin has finally dropped and it has suddenly become desperately obvious to the Obama campaign operation that, governing as he has been doing over the last four years as an old style right-of-center Republican (somewhere between Nixon and Reagan), Obama has completely shredded his base, such that they’d better do something pretty radical if they are going to salvage the reelection campaign, especially given the dire state of the economy (not entirely not his fault).

So Obama chooses Elizabeth Warren as his second-term running mate.

    Shortly after the new team’s inauguration, in 2013, Clarence Thomas, suffering from one internal contradiction too many, finally has the nervous breakdown we’ve all long been expecting and has to retire from the Supreme Court.
    Having to choose some nominee who the Republicans in the Senate won’t be able to block, the just re-elected Obama appoints himself to the vacant Supreme Court seat (a position he’d clearly much prefer to that of president, one where he can deliberate to his heart’s content, a lifetime position at that, and one in which, for that matter, over time, he might well prove more effective).
    And Elizabeth Warren becomes president.
    Just in time, alas, for the next crash.

    Funny.  Don’t Stop Believing!  I  also liked the part about Bachmann being the GOP Veep nominee.

    One does have to wonder how that author got the idea that Clarence Thomas suffers from any internal contradictions or that the Senate wouldn’t block Obama as a Supreme Court nominee.
    Lawrence wasn’t paying attention to PSAs, the brown acid is bad.

    Thomas suffers from “internal contradictions” in Lawrence Weschler’s fevered dreams because, as a card-carrying Dem, he’s a racist, and he can’t stand that Thomas is black, thinks for himself and isn’t a Democrat. (Also, because he’s black.)

    Domestically and economically, Nixon actually was to the left of how Obama has been constrained to govern. Can you say “wage and price controls”, EPA, OHSA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act?

    He was a master of foreign policy, but domestically…..Nixon invented stagflation.

    If you don’t peruse the liberal sites, you might not know it, but there’s a concerted effort to try to force him to resign over ethical conflicts.

    I’m hardly a GOP apologist, but their efforts in that area are …how do they say it….oh yeah, batshit crazy.

    We shouldn’t try to correct these clowns.  Every deranged edict from the White House, every Nazi with a rifle marching with #OWS, every YouTube video, every watercarrying lie the media throws in the face of a public that sees what they are being told is happening is at direct odds with what they experience is another nail in the coffin of this administration.

    Unfortunately for the country his delusional beliefs are not the results of mind altering drugs. I’m reminded of several occasions when I was asked if a particular employee was on drugs and I replied that I hoped so. When asked why I’d hope that some dysfunctional person was using drugs, I’d respond that if they were currently on drugs and then stopped, they might get better. I don’t think Lawrence Weschler is on drugs.

    Actually, that’s about the size of it.

    Watergate tends to overshadow the fact that Nixon instituted wage and price controls, closed the gold window, introduced the Earned Income Credit, etc. Economically he was well to the left of Obama.
