“Why Can’t I Get A Job In My Field?”
Posted on | October 21, 2011 | 48 Comments
by Smitty
Well, if it’s your field, then any agricultural job you get out there would make you self-employed, no?
About the only real excuse for this sort of whining is that there is indeed a market, but that the government has queered the market to the point the market no longer functions. In that case, we can legitimately agitate for more liberty, and then start our own businesses.
But this notion that anybody is owed a job at all, much less in any particular field, is one that we have got to laugh at as often as possible, and mock without mercy. I’m sure Stacy, if he gets a moment, can pour on some more derision about the state of journalism.

I wonder if she has considered that perhaps having facial skin problems might deter potential employers?
Then again what do I know about cosmetology.
October 21st, 2011 @ 12:33 pm
Why do young people go out of their way to be ugly? You have a very narrow window, enjoy it. Trust me, middle age generally does not improve one’s looks.
October 21st, 2011 @ 12:34 pm
Edward, that’s the thing too – look at how’s she’s dressed and made up. If you were to tell her she should clean up her look, she’d get angry and tell you “she has to be herself” because her parents and teachers and college professors and whoever else told her that she was special little snowflake and that she shouldn’t have to change for the world, the world should change for her. Most of these idiots occupying WAll Street are the same way – yes, you have an “education” but when your degree is in Lesbian Environmental Studies, you are wearing a T-shirt with a profanity on the front and have dreadlocks you haven’t washed in two months, the odds of an investment banking firm hiring you is almost nill. Yes, you can be a special little snowflake and try to set yourself apart by shoving piercings in places they generally don’t belong, getting ironic tatoos and screaming slogans, but don’t be surprised when the only job you can get are the jobs Americans won’t do.
October 21st, 2011 @ 12:46 pm
The only job skills I have are as a Personal Trainer, but I weigh 800lbs and I insist on dressing in cardboard boxes painted to look like Voltron. Why doesn’t anyone want to hire me?
October 21st, 2011 @ 12:51 pm
Let’s be brutally honest. She is probably not the most naturally attractive girl in the world. But if she lost a little weight, got rid of the piercings (beyond her ear lobes), dressed well, wore the right amount of make up (hint: less is more) and did her hair in a color found in nature (other than on a poisonous arrow frog in the Amazon or a sea slug on a coral reef) she might actually be okay looking.
To quote the boss: She ain’t a beauty but she could be alright.
October 21st, 2011 @ 12:52 pm
Her warpaint is a reflection of how she feels about herself. Ugly. So she embraces it. It is very sad really.
October 21st, 2011 @ 12:56 pm
Spot on, Matt.
A degree in “Scratch-Card Studies” might at least have paid off once in a while…
October 21st, 2011 @ 1:14 pm
I wouldn’t let her anywhere near a food preparation surface either. She looks toxic.
October 21st, 2011 @ 1:18 pm
Rosie O’Donnell got employment in the past. Leave her alone.

Why? http://trooperyork.blogspot.com/2011/10/just-because_17.html
October 21st, 2011 @ 1:33 pm
Why, raaaaacism, or course.
October 21st, 2011 @ 1:33 pm
Well honey, judging by your looks I don’t trust you with my hair or my face. That’s why you can’t get a job.
October 21st, 2011 @ 1:35 pm
One laughs and then cries for our country. They don’t protest for jobs – they protest for sitting on their ass and getting a check for little to no work. America was built on hard work, not entitlement sewer-rats like this one…
October 21st, 2011 @ 1:39 pm
People who think they can sum up their “personality” in their looks, don’t have much substance to begin with. I don’t need to have tattoos and mohawks because I can’t be summed up so easily…
October 21st, 2011 @ 1:40 pm
I watched the Vidal Sassoon documentary with my wife. It was interesting. Vidal would fire hairdressers if their shoes were not polished. Most of his crew was straight (this was the Austin Powers era in 60s Swinging London) and he warned them not to get involved with the clientele because that was not professional. But it was a pretty good show on showing why he was successful at what he did.
October 21st, 2011 @ 1:47 pm
She’s a Cabbage Patch kid.
October 21st, 2011 @ 1:47 pm
With a little work she could be Tabitha Hale! http://a3.l3-images.myspacecdn.com/profile01/127/2186ab06187c454bb316c177db71d3c2/p.jpg
October 21st, 2011 @ 1:56 pm
Many, if not most, cosmetologists are self-employed. They rent a chair in a salon and are paid by their clients. Their overhead is chair rent, taxes, supplies, and any advertising they have. If Ms. Rachel wasn’t aware of this she chose the wrong field to work in.
October 21st, 2011 @ 1:57 pm
[…] way, my deep thanks to our military men and women who’ve done this work. May your efforts be […]

Somehow the word directly disappeared.
October 21st, 2011 @ 2:00 pm
How do you know this creature is female? Just wondering.
October 21st, 2011 @ 2:00 pm
Sorry that was mean. That was for the BlogCon slight to Stacy.
October 21st, 2011 @ 2:14 pm
Beat me to it.
October 21st, 2011 @ 2:16 pm
This example aside, let’s also not forget that it’s not up to a “field” to provide spaces for everyone who wants to work there.
October 21st, 2011 @ 2:18 pm
More like a Garbage Pail Kid.
October 21st, 2011 @ 2:27 pm
Maybe we should ask Tabitha why you did not get a gig at BlogCon.
October 21st, 2011 @ 2:29 pm
When I’m in the market for a mohawk haircut and Prince Albert job, I’ll be sure to look up this gal(?) in the online directory.
Normally, I don’t care if a “stylist” is gay or straight, attractive or unattractive, stylish or shabby. But I’d prefer that a chick who goes to work on my hair and face, with scissors and razor blades, not be a man-hating bull dyke.
October 21st, 2011 @ 2:45 pm
You know the farmer’s definition of “an expert”, don’t you?
“A man out standing in his field.”
October 21st, 2011 @ 2:54 pm
Matt, i’m
stealingredistributing your comment for my blog… it shines like a diamond !October 21st, 2011 @ 3:29 pm
I prefer mine, mojo.
“A has-been (ex) drip under pressure (spurt).”
October 21st, 2011 @ 3:31 pm
“Clothes maketh the man.” And I’ll bet she doesn’t smell very good, either.
There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch. If you want to be a non-conformist, don’t expect society to embrace you. After all, that IS your intent, right?
Actions have consequences. Sorry the Leftist system didn’t teach you that.
October 21st, 2011 @ 3:49 pm
It really does depend on the field. I remember when I went to enlist in the Reagan years, there was talk about how much more selective the Army was being with its enlistees. I told the recruiting sergeant I hoped I could get a slot in the infantry.
“I think we can help you,” he said…
October 21st, 2011 @ 3:58 pm
Judging by the news that’s gradually dripping out I say that the more idealistic members of the OWSers the proper term to describe them is prey.
October 21st, 2011 @ 4:09 pm
She’s probably too busy being influential.
You know the drill: “So many influencees, so little time.”
October 21st, 2011 @ 4:13 pm
Whoa, dude!
That’s GLBT Environmental Studies, ya homophobe! Get it straight right, or Obama and the PC Police will be sending you for Reeducation – When De Revolution Come.
October 21st, 2011 @ 4:14 pm
See, she needs to be in a two-chair salon.
Like with a town with only two barbers, you go to the one with the bad haircut.
October 21st, 2011 @ 4:36 pm
Hey, don’t laugh. There are people going for 99 weeks of unemployment with job aspirations that unrealistic.
October 21st, 2011 @ 4:37 pm
Of course the young lady pictured on this post could work for Rosie O’Donnell in removing all that body hair. But I think Rosie actually likes it.
October 21st, 2011 @ 4:59 pm
Trying to be kind, “Rachel” may just be following the rule about testing product out on herself, and had a bad reaction, which is why she’s all broken out.
Anyone buying that one? I can try some other kindness-influenced excuse for her hair and skin, if not.
October 21st, 2011 @ 5:21 pm
Took me a while to get that. Bit slow today.
October 21st, 2011 @ 5:21 pm
Capitalism rears it’s ugly head in patchouli park.

PS: Self government is haaaarrd.
October 21st, 2011 @ 5:24 pm
OK, her problem is obvious, but she’s also obviously young. I don’t even want to see pictures of any of you folks when you were that age.
We get enough pics of Stacy from that age, so we ought to know people change.
These kids need us folks to get this country turned around. Unfortunately some of them actually vote.
October 21st, 2011 @ 5:28 pm
My kids’ High School featured hundreds of kids dressed like this young woman.
When Halloween came around, they would “dress up” for it (being the only safe “holiday” in schools).
I could never see a difference.
October 21st, 2011 @ 5:42 pm
I wouldn’t let her do my makeup for free!
October 21st, 2011 @ 6:26 pm
Hell, I wouldn’t let her paint fences for free.
October 21st, 2011 @ 6:32 pm
Heh. When I saw her I recalled a time that I went into a pet store in the 90’s, before the dot-com bubble popped. The clerk looked similar to the woman pictured. I literally remember thinking that the fact that PetCo had not only hired her, but out her in a position where she was face-to-face with the public was a sign that the economy was indeed booming.
October 22nd, 2011 @ 1:20 am
Caption it: Chaz rocks a new look – women and minorities hardest hit.
October 22nd, 2011 @ 4:29 pm
Is he really a hair-dresser?
If, it must be pretty good… my wife’s Chinese and coloring Mongoloid hair, (in her case to cover grey,) is very difficult – it simply doesn’t take color well.
personally, I think she looks angelic with white hair, and wish she’d leave it alone… but I’m only her husband, so I don’t really get a say.
