REPUBLICAN ARMAGEDDON LOOMS: New Hampshire Threatens December Primary Unless Nevada Moves Caucus

A big tip of the fedora to Bob Belevedere of Camp of the Saints for this alert: In a message sent by New Hampshire’s Secretary of State (see PDF here), he says that unless Nevada changes its caucus date from Jan. 14 to Jan. 17 or later, “I cannot rule out the possibility of a December primary.”

This frightening news — meaning we may be less than two months away from the New Hampshire primary — comes on the heels of my acquiring media credentials for Tuesday’s debate in Las Vegas.

Please, I beg you: Hit the freaking tip jar!

CONCORD, N.H. — New Hampshire’s primary could be held as early as Dec. 6, 2011, Secretary of State William Gardner warned today.
In a statement issued Wednesday afternoon, Garnder, who sets the date, said that if Nevada sticks with its current plan to hold a caucus on Jan. 14, “I cannot rule out the possibility of a December primary.”
Gardner wants Nevada to accept a date of Jan. 17 or later in order to keep the 2012 primaries from spilling into 2011. But if it does not, he said, “The dates of Tuesday, December 13th, and Tuesday, December 6th are realistic options, and we have logistics in place to make either date happen if needed.”
The primary calendar has been in chaos since a Florida panel decided to hold that state’s primary on Jan. 31, scratching the parties’ plans to delay the beginning of the nominating process until February.
South Carolina has scheduled its primary for Jan. 21, prompting Nevada’s Republican Party to claim Jan. 14, a Saturday, for its caucus. Iowa Republicans have signaled they are looking at Jan. 3 for their caucus. . . .

Blame it all on those vicious RINO-hugging bastards in Florida: Catastrophic results, possibly leaving me with mere weeks to hustle up enough cash to be able to book travel for coverage of the 2012 campaign. A desperate crisis for the nation, and for my professional career.

UPDATE III: Just to remind you: Florida is to blame for all of this, as I have been warning since Sept. 28. The corrupt jackals who run the Florida GOP did this evil thing for their own selfish reasons, in contravention of RNC rules to which they had agreed. Their disastrous decision to move the Florida primary from March to Jan. 31 was undertaken with the approval of — and quite possibly under orders from — Florida GOP Chairman Lenny Curry, reputed to be a close ally of the Crist-like RINO Senate candidate George LeMieux.

Furthermore, the top Republicans in the Florida state legislature were all in on it. And cui bono?

After a rally Tuesday in the Villages, Romney seemed intent Wednesday on making significant strides with those who can help drive his campaign in Florida, huddling behind closed doors at the state Capitol with Gov. Rick Scott, Attorney General Pam Bondi and a roster of lobbyists who also are Republican fund-raisers. . . .
Senate President Mike Haridopolos, R-Melbourne, was among those stopping by Bondi’s office to meet the candidate, soon after Romney’s Florida finance chairman, Jacksonville businessman John Rood, exited.

This crooked scam was orchestrated by GOP insiders in Tallahassee for the benefit of their BFF, Mitt Romney.

    If you don’t happen to live in New Hampshire or Iowa, you’ve probably grown weary of these states shouting FIRST! If anything one of the swing states should go early to increase the chance that the nominee will appeal to these crucial voters.

    The amazing thing is that all this maneuvering was provoked by Florida, to weed out all the candidates except Perry and Romney.  Perry is already circling the drain (unless he wants to spend $17mil to let the country watch him stutter and use the wrong words) and Cain is surging up to and past Romney in some polls.  In other words, all this gaming is TOO LATE.

    New Hampshire state law REQUIRES their primary to be held at least one week before any other, and empowers their Secretary of State to act to enforce it.  He doesn’t need legislative approval and he doesn’t have to answer to anyone – unless some state leapfrogs NH, then his butt is on the grill.

    The Florida and New Hampshire Republican Parties are well stocked with RINO Turds and Bushies that want Romney, it would be why Palin passed on running. Mitt has New Hampshire and Nevada and Michigan for sure and is leading in Florida and may be leading in Iowa depending on the poll. He also has the South Carolina GOP Machine backing him in South Carolina. It is a Fixed Fight. Herman Cain does not have $50 million.

    And let me give you just one small example of what I’m talking about. Obama is way down in the polls in Pennsylvania. I forget the exact number, but its a substantial margin. So what does the Pennsylvania legislature want to do? They want to divide the states electoral votes. And they have the votes to get it done. And the Republican governor has promised to sign it into law if they do.

    Pagan, show me the poll that has Obama absolutely losing PA.  First of all such a poll now (given how far the election is away) is useless.  I suspect Obama has a decent shot at PA.  But if PA had devided electoral votes, Obama is in serious trouble by that alone.  That means even if he wins PA he probably loses on electoral votes because PA is so important to him.

    So I would not get so bound up by this.  I doubt it is going to happen and the thought process is it helps the GOP by doing so.  We will see.

    Can we have it next week and just get it over with.  Iowa: Win for Cain.  New Hampshire:  Win for Romney.  South Carolina:  Win for Cain.  I am going to guess if we did that Nevada and Florida would go respectively Romney and Cain.  Who is looking better at that point?

    I understand your concern but I say let them run it early. Maybe there’ll be more action at the convention. Plus there’s the possibility that the later primary schedule actually helped the establishment candidate.

    I mean the way it looks now the early the better. Maybe Cain wins this way or at least gets a lock on top dog status and  money. At this point I’m all for anything that gives mittens the boot.

    I’m not to keen on his 9 9 9 plan but that’s mostly rhetoric cause he can’t make congress pass anything. I am keen on his straight talk and taking it to and back at the Dems.

    We need a battler in 2012 and mittens ain’t it. Cain’ll do.

    I TOLD you — Bill Gardner (NH Sec State) does NOT have the slightest bit if wishy-washiness in him when it comes to the primary. As Adjoran says, he has the law behind him which says what he has to do, as well as pretty much the entire state. If I gotta go to the polls in December, so be it. Screw you, Sunshine GOP.

    it’s a good scam those early states have going there.  Iowa is wholly dependent on farm subsidies and NH has a half-assed open primary where Reps and Dems can’t cross over but those vaunted independents can vote in whatever primary they want.  why would you even register to a party in that state?  Also they’ve got a bare handful of electoral votes between them and are also some of the most lillie white places in the country.  Florida is at least important in the general election and demographically looks more like the country as a whole.
