Wasserman-Schultz Says Republicans ‘Worship at the Altar of the Tea Party’

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz just gave a press conference here that I wrote up for the American Spectator blog:

Republicans are “desperate to appease the Tea Party,” Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz said, hours before GOP candidates were due to appear in a debate co-sponsored by the Tea Party Express.
“Tonight, I think we are likely to hear the Republican candidates for president continue to worship at the altar of the Tea Party,” Wasserman-Schultz told reporters here. Viewers “won’t find a candidate on stage tonight with a plan to do anything but return to the policies that we’re all so familiar with and that got us into this mess in the first place.”
Republicans “would shred the safety net” of Social Security and Medicare, Wasserman-Schultz said in her press conference at the Florida State Fairgrounds. “At least [Texas Gov.] Rick Perry was honest about his hostility toward Social Security, calling it a ‘Ponzi scheme.’ . . . But Mitt Romney was not straightforward about his support for privatizing Social Security, a scheme that would be as dangerous to the future of the program as Rick Perry’s attitude and rhetoric.”

    Why the hell does a 74 year have to worry about what happens to Social Security for citizens currently under the age of 55?  Tell those old-timers that they can die peacefully in the knowledge that it makes no difference to them how the fiscal problems with Social Securityare dealt with in the future, that they will continue to “gets” what they “gots” coming.

    This statement shows, once again, the depth of DWS’s ignorance.  Two key points –

    1)  Ron Nehring, former California Republican Party Chairman, indicated that he was
    ..and I am paraphrasing here.. “going to take over the Tea Party or
    destroy it.”  I am not feeling the love, much less any worship, for the California GOP.  The treatment of Jamie Radtke in Virgina from the establishment Republicans makes me think that my state isn’t the only problem area, in terms of GOP-Tea Party relationships.  http://templeofmut.wordpress.com/2010/04/09/if-i-dont-join-the-federation-does-that-make-me-romulan/

    It’s taken almost 35 years of federal Department of Education and teacher union cooperation to dumb down America enough to make DNC Chairpoison DWS a reality.

    You have to wonder if Obama really wants a second term.  Presidentin’ messes with his golf schedule anyway, but appointing Debbie has to mean he just doesn’t care anymore.
