Not Enough

by Smitty

Another day, another tantrum from somebody who may be lacking in the nerve department. Sarah Palin must do X, or I’m going to post Y.  I’m supporting candidate Z, and I’m really tired of questioning Sarah Palin’s actions, because her supporters are really mean, and they roughed me up in the comments and stuff.

Do this: put yourself past caring who wins the nomination. All of the GOP candidates are working according to the script. Except one, who is writing her own. Might work, might blow up fabulously.

Personally, I think it is not enough to win within the system. Case in point is Mitt Romney, of whose economic plan the WSJ said:

Where the Governor is less persuasive is on the larger issues of taxes, spending, entitlements and trade. Here he ducks and covers more than he needs to.

Of course Romney’s ducking and covering: he’s playing the moderate, compromised, no-sacred-cow-butchery game that he thinks will win. Can’t fault him, but I don’t support him. This is precisely the non-approach to tackling our problems that is almost guaranteed to perpetuate them.

On the other hand, you have an undeclared possible candidate who is setting about gathering the required mandate to, you know, do something, and being met with sputtering imagination from the audience.

I simply cannot fault her if she reaches her go/no go moment, and her willingness to carry through falters, and she says: “. . .let this cup pass from me. . .”

More at The Lonely Conservative.

Color Professor Jacobson unimpressed:

The nonsense coming from Coulter and Erickson and others is why I am not overly optimistic about 2012, regardless of what the polls now show. We are our own worst enemies.

Dan Riehl is stranegly sympathetic to Erickson’s argument: “For All The Brave Whiners On Palin”. Whoops, I meant critical.

Teach sounds like he’s at the end of his rope.

The “blondes” say Sarah Palin hasn’t done the heavy lifting required of a serious candidate?
    Are you f***ing kidding me?
She has done more heavy lifting in the last three years than all the other pretend candidates combined.
Who was it that said Obamacare had “death panels” and put a knife into the heart of that piece of crap legislation? (and took all the heat for it?)
Who was it that went to the first Tea Party Convention and gave a speech praising the Tea Party and smaller, smarter government, bringing all the national TV audience and some legitimacy to the movement when all the right wingers were bitching about the organizer “making money” and deciding not to attend?
Who was it that has gone after Obama continuously from 2008, even during the 2008 election, while the pussy Republicans have said …. “oh, we can’t go there, that’s mean and nasty….  its polarizing…. to be talking about Bill Ayers, Rev. Wright, etc.” ?
Who was it that gave the people that make up the Tea Party the courage to finally think about going to those town halls and marching and saying like her….  “No, we won’t sit down and shut up” while the Republican Party and its butt kissing pundits all laughed at and smeared the Tea Party?

I can go on, but why bother? If you can’t figure this out because your brain can’t hold a memory longer than two weeks, who cares about you anyway?

Oh, and I get the meaning of “heavy lifting” now as it pertains to Ingraham and Coulter…..   you mean the heavy lifting of lobby money from the lobbyist wallets.
Or the lifting in Coulter and Ingraham’s cases of money from the few thousand people who still continue to buy their books.

Okay… now I understand. Its because Sarah isn’t being bought now for favours later like all the other candidates. She is not playing ball with the rules of the game as established by the Establishment. How terrible she isn’t doing what they want her to do.

P.S. I’ll clue you in to why her supporters are so tough on anyone who says even something slightly negative about her….  because the Republican pussies and right wing pundits abandoned her when she was most heavily under attack in 2008 and 2009. So we have decided to “have her back” so to speak so that it never happens again. EVER.

“All of the GOP candidates are working according to the script. Except one, who is writing her own.”

Well said, Smitty.  Perhaps the Palin critics could simply choose another, more conventional Republican to support.  That seems to have worked out well in the past.

Well, I don’t know about that “knife in the heart” thing. That legislation may appear dead, but it’s still a zombie until somebody takes it out. I think she’d be the guy to do it if anybody can–maybe the only one with the balls to do such a thing. But it’s not gone yet, and I’ve got little confidence that it will be.

I`m tired of this crap. The lady said she would announce by the end of September,I think there a couple days left right? As for Palin not doing anything. She started with “DEATH PANELS” and has not stopped.Grow up RINO`S

According to the Official GOP Playbook, which has held true for many cycles (unless one is a Bush): the #2 (Veep or Veep Candidate) or Senior GOP Senator from the previous election cycle automatically gets the nomination, after the usual scripted show. Which means Palin gets the nomination.

Which has the GOP sharting itself.

BLUF: you nailed it: Palin has written her own script and status quo folks just can’t take it anymore.

The one blond is totally enthralled with Christie who’s  an egotistical, arrogant RINO.  Obviously, she thinks he’s more qualified than Palin.   What’s with those two?  I have to believe that they’re members of the Establishment Republican club.

My My the Bears are hungry.
Don’t know how many primaries are held before NC but ours isn’t until mid May. As I’m not in a position to help candidates with time or donations in other state primaries I reckon I need figure out who I’ll support sometime in April. Y’all play nice OK?

I had begun to sour on Palin’s slow-walking of her candidacy, but events of the past couple weeks are proving the process to be quite clarifying.  She hasn’t even made her own big move, yet many others are finding their hand already being forced by her mere inaction.

If this is by design then she’s even more canny than I thought.  A great big question mark lingering on the horizon certainly cuts down on the too-smart by half triangulation so typical of candidates at this point in a primary season.

That’s one thing she won’t do. She would be exactly the right person to do that after 2012. She won’t do that either.

I ripped Erick a new one over there, since he had as I put it the ‘unmitigated gall’ to demand that Sarah Palin answer for everything her fans have said and done; so I told him that by that standard, he’s responsible for everything said on RedState, or he needs to STFU.

Sadly with the Palin-bashing by him and by Leon, I’ve never been more embarrassed to be a frequent commenter there.

Well, do you see a little of the point at least?  In comments above, the other candidates and any bloggers or pundits who question Palin’s bona fides or tactics are accused of being corrupt or part of some “Establishment” conspiracy.

It’s becoming a cult, and either you are 100% in 100% of the time, or you are out and cursed forever.

Oh, bullshit. It’s not a “cult”, it’s not anything close to a “cult”. What the Palin supporters want is for her to be given the fair chance to run for the presidency if she chooses to do so just as any other candidate would do. Giuliani had his Florida strategy last time around, it turned out to be a miserable failure. Palin’s strategy may very well turn out the same way. I dunno. You dunno. Nobody knows. But I remember quite clearly that Giuliani, who was highly thought of last cycle, was given the freedom to run the way he wanted to run. Almost every Palin supporter is grimly holding that line: Let the lady do as she chooses and let the chips fall as they may. ALL of the acrimony in conservative circles stems from people trying to force Palin into the mold they want to impose on her. There are some fanatics, I admit, but the vast majority of folks who support Palin are screaming at the top of their lungs for one thing: Let Palin be Palin. She will live or die on the crucible of her calculations. It isn’t fanaticism, or cultism, to demand that she be given the opportunity to do that. Her supporters are demanding just that and nothing more, against the chattering political class who demand that she dance to their tune. Fuck their tune. We wouldn’t be where we are if the tune of the political class wasn’t leading us as a country into disaster.

Sarah’s supporters want her to have a level, neutral playing field with journalists.

No favoritism at all, just an equal approach. We believe anywhere near a level, and well lit, playing field – Sarah wins, otherwise, why not let her have one?

She probably won’t, yet many believe she will win anyway.
It’s the natural consequence of having the truth on her side.
