Does Anyone Else Remember …?

During the mid-term election campaign last fall, nearly every GOP congressional candidate was slammed by attack ads accusing them of favoring “tax cuts for companies that ship jobs overseas.” That accusation was made routinely (and misleadingly) against Republicans who had signed a no-new-taxes pledge from Americans for Tax Reform:

Millionaire Tim Burns: Supporting Loopholes
That Ship Our Jobs Overseas (PA-12 TV Ad)

— Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, April 27, 2010

But it wasn’t just the DCCC that made that accusation, and it wasn’t just in TV attack ads. It was also President Obama, in his weekly address on Oct. 16, three weeks before Election Day:

“Republicans in Washington have consistently fought to keep these corporate loopholes open. Over the last four years alone, Republicans in the House voted 11 times to continue rewarding corporations that create jobs and profits overseas — a policy that costs taxpayers billions of dollars every year.”

Let’s just pause for a moment to consider the perversity of that accusation: Lower taxes (described as “corporate loopholes”) are a policy that “costs taxpayers billions of dollars every year,” according to the Keynesian-in-Chief. But while accusing the GOP of imposing such costs on taxpayers, Obama described himself as an advocate of lower taxes in the very same speech:

The president said in the coming months he intends to fight for tax breaks for small businesses and manufacturers.
“We should reward the people who are helping us lead in the industries of the future, like clean energy,” Obama said. “That’s how we’ll ensure that American innovation and ingenuity are what drive the next century.”

Ohhhh. Now we understand: When Republicans are against raising taxes on corporations, that’s bad. But it’s OK for Obama to advocate special tax breaks for “the industries of the future, like clean energy.”

So how’s that working out for ya?

President Obama faces political catastrophe in the form of Solyndra — a San Francisco Bay area solar company that he touted as a gleaming example of green technology. It has announced it will declare Chapter 11 bankruptcy. More than 1,100 people will lose their jobs.
During a visit to the Fremont facility in spring of 2010, the President said the factory “is just a testament to American ingenuity and dynamism and the fact that we continue to have the best universities in the world, the best technology in the world, and most importantly the best workers in the world.“ . . .
The President was celebrating $535 million in federal promises from the Department of Energy to the solar startup.

Ohhhh. But at least the Obama administration isn’t encouraging U.S. companies to ship jobs overseas, right? Right?

Why are you against creating jobs overseas? RAAAAACIST!

The Obama regime has been using our tax dollars to ‘save or create’ jobs OVERSEAS for quite some time, as I wrote extensively about back in December: http://zillablog.marezilla.com/2010/12/our-tax-dollars-saved-or-created-jobs.html
Read and prepare to be even more pissed off.

Wait a second, isn’t that a tax loophole, specifically built into the tax code so as not to penalize whatever privileged group happens to be in favor at the time….Maybe the President was for tax loopholes before he was against them.

Heard yesterday on Rush: ATT-TMobile merger stopped by DOJ. That cost the US 5,000 jobs that would have been shipped from India to the US.

Considering the POTUS job creation numbers, 5000 is the most he would have had since inauguration. Way to go DOJ! Evil will mars evil.

    Agenda 21.
Our candyass governor, Haslam has said this is a federal issue. So much for state’s rights.

Notice that C.F. Martin, Gibson’s main competitor, uses the exact same wood from the same sources, certified by the same government and the same Forestry Stewardship Council, has not been raided, threatened, or even bothered at all about it.

Of course, Martin is a union shop company whose principals donated to Obama and Democrats.  Gibson is non-union, and its executives have mainly donated to Republicans.

    You do the math.

The idiocy comes in when you realize there just isn’t another solution for T-Mobile – if Verizon were to buy them, the same “competitive” issues (a red herring from the business-hating Democrats) would exist, and Sprint doesn’t have the money or stock to swing a deal.

So the only thing left is for the German company which owns it now, DTE, to keep it and keep fighting in the US market.  This won’t increase competitiveness or access to higher-speed networks for American consumers.

Obama and everyone who works for him hates capitalism and capitalists and wants to destroy the system.  I wish there was another explanation for their actions, like sheer stupidity, but the merely stupid would make their mistakes in different ways and directions, not ALWAYS anti-business.

RSM, I don’t understand what you mean when you say you don’t want to offend the Paultards. Haven’t you ever even once criticized 9/11 Truthers? I could have swore you had, but maybe I’m wrong. Or maybe its just the Stormfront Neonazis you hadn’t gotten around to offending yet?

Nicely tied together story – I like the dots connected with the recent Gibson revelations. I wonder how many other ‘Gibsons’ will come out of the woodwork now. Forgive the pun. I can’t help myself sometimes.

There’s a lot more to the story, RedState chips at the surface. Just like the operatives in The Bourne Movies, this administration doesn’t do random.

This comment was meant for the post above this one. I know they’re not all Truthers, but that’s probably Paul’s most vociferous Paulbots.
