‘Neo-Confederate Sex Panic’ Becomes the Biggest Political Punchline of the Year?

DES MOINES, Iowa
Little did I suspect this morning when I boarded my flight at Reagan National that, by the time I reached Iowa, the nation would be deep in the grip of a hitherto unknown political fever: Neo-Confederate Sex Panic!
“It was like the secessionists .. . Even as [Obama] was
being inaugurated, the voices of secession were uniting in
the South and planning to bring this guy down, right?”
Da Tech Guy suggests Chris Matthews actually believes this stuff. So whatever you do, don’t disillusion him. And don’t tell Amanda Marcotte we’re laughing at her craziness.
Meanwhile, Herman Cain arrives here Thursday morning and will speak at the Greater Des Moines Partnership at noon and the Professional Educators of Iowa at 5 p.m. In between those events, he’ll visit the “Sweet Corn Serenade” festival in Oskaloosa. So I’m working hard, honest.
National Desk, Mickey’s Irish Pub, 3rd & Court, Des Moines, Iowa.
The karaoke contest starts at 9 p.m. If any readers are in the Des Moines area, come on down and I assure you, you’ll get your money’s worth.
UPDATE: T-Paw pulling his ads in Iowa? The first hint of politics I heard in Iowa today was a radio ad by Pawlenty.
So far as I know, Cain has run no ads at all in Iowa. I don’t know if radio or TV ads have any impact on the Ames Straw Poll, and don’t know if the Ames Straw Poll (Aug. 13) makes any difference to the outcome of the Iowa caucuses (Feb. 6).

You’re not far from Hessen Haus, down there in front of the science museum. I highly recommend it! Get the Spaten on draft while you eat!

“Neo-Confederate”? You’re gonna attract the likes of that pony-tailed spinster from SoCal, that never-smiling, paunchy, gimlet-eyed little rat-fiend Charles Johnson, he who is now permanently attached to the female c*ck of Imelda Markos Moulitsas Zúñiga. Get your bug spray.

I can’t decide whether that’s the worst band name ever, or the best.

Chris Matthews is a complete waste of oxygen. It’s hard to fathom that even he could believe the crap that comes out of his mouth.

What kind of music would they play? Thrash country? Maybe Charlie Daniels Band meets Circle Jerks.

Tell me again why what a bunch of corn farmer’s getting AG subsidies are the people we conservatives are supposed to pay attention to for their opinions on a Presidential candidate?
Their caucus ‘system’ is notoriously gameable with enough money. Make them run a primary like everyone else and WHEN everyone else does.
Just another money pit that’s become our elections. The only people that really benefit are hucksters, shysters and other assorted scam artists. These ones just happen to have hay in their hair.

Ah, where was Chris Matthews during the Bush administration?
I couldn’t ride the commuter train without being assaulted with assassination chic.
Has there been a book, a play, a movie about assassinating Obama, and I missed it?
Good heavens.

Truth has no agenda, haha. Yes, Chris Matthews, you are wrong even when you’re talking to yourself in the mirror alone at home, your reflection can’t agree with you and look you in the eye at the same time. You too, Dianna, you are the wrongest of the wrong…in fact, you insist on being wrong and if you happened to be right, you’d argue with yourself and change your mind.

The Ames Straw Poll definitely isn’t much influenced by advertising. The practice since its inception is for campaigns to charter buses to bring their supporters to the site, feed them at a campaign tent on the premises, buy their tickets inside, and figure to collect the number of votes they paid for.
In other words, it’s built on a Democrat model.

Cowpunk. Definitely cowpunk.

Good call – Neo-Confederate Sex Panic have the potential to revive the cowpunk genre. Nashville Pussy will be proud.

Seriously?
You’re deriding her because she has pointed out the Bush Assassination chic that was very prominent this last decade?
The truth may have no agenda but you have no eyes to see it.

For that matter, since when is it “conservative” to promise nothing will happen to Social Security and Medicare, which both bloat by 8% in geometric progression year by year, bringing us nothing but further legions of pensioned-off useless eaters who vote the straight Democratic ticket anyway because they want to keep “their” welfare checks coming?
