‘Progressive Secularization of Society’ Leaves Humanity ‘Thirsty for God’

The quote is from a guy who wears funny hats. While I prefer a fedora myself, it’s hard to argue with Pat Archbold:

You know who I blame for the Tucson shooting? I blame Jared. He chose sin. He chose evil. He chose to buy the gun and to shoot people. . . .
I blame Jared Loughner. . . . He is a man who rejected God, rejected grace, and chose murder.

A very interesting theory, sir. That’s the kind of rhetoric — all that talk about “sin,” and “evil” and “God” and “grace” — that will get you denounced as a theocratic Christofascist godbag by Queen C*** of F*** Mountain and other enlightened advocates of secular salvation who believe that man can justify himself by his own deeds.

“Thou shalt not kill” is a simple thing to understand, which is why it is rejected by enlightened advocates of secular salvation who cherish their “right” to kill babies. If it’s so simple that anyone can understand it, you see, then there is no intellectual glory to be had in espousing it. Why should the intellectual elite embrace a simple truth, when a sophisticated lie — “penumbras formed by emanations” and all that stuff — is so much more flattering to their sense of their own superiority?

“Also in the deserts of the secularized world, the soul of man is thirsty for God, for the living God,” says the Man Who Wears Funny Hats, prescribing “renewed evangelization” as the remedy. Of course, the enlightened sophisticates will hasten to say, this “evangelization” would violate the rights of baby-killers, because “Thou shalt not kill” is the kind of theocratic godbag stuff that only hateful bigots believe in.

And no fashionable conservative wants to be a hateful bigot.

But I’ve never been fashionable, and Lisa Graas is correct that there is “a troubling trend in the conservative sphere,” an abandonment of the duty of “defending America’s traditional Christian values.”

Just don’t expect me to wear a funny hat, OK?
