Ellmers to NRCC: Thanks for Nothing
Posted on | November 4, 2010 | 36 Comments
That the GOP won the House is some kind of miracle, considering the total ineptitude of Pete Sessions and his crew of bumbling dingbats at the NRCC. Renee Ellmers beat Bob Etheridge in North Carolina. Now the Democrat is asking for a recount and Ellmers has gone public with the fact that the NRCC is MIA:
Months ago, I went to Washington and asked the National Republican Congressional Committee and many conservative leaders to help my campaign. Many conservative groups – like the Susan B. Anthony List, Concerned Women of America, Freedom Works, and Sarah Palin’s Sarah PAC all helped, but the NRCC declined. Later, they did support other campaigns in North Carolina – which, unfortunately, lost – but we never received their support. In fact, their spokesman told the press “that the campaign wasn’t ready for prime time” – which actually made it even harder for us to raise money. So, I am doubtful we will get support from the NRCC to help with the expense of the recount.
I’m still remembering that August phone conversation with the NRCC staffer who was all, “Van Tran! Van Tran!” Forty-two freaking percent.
Notice that the bumbling dingbats at GOP-HQ are now telling the New York Times that everything happened because of them and their genius strategy. Excuse me while I quote myself:
Pete Sessions should have been stripped of his chairmanship the day after Dede Scozzafava endorsed Bill Owens. If there were still any old-fashioned justice in the world, Pete Sessions would have been horsewhipped and stomped to death by the House Republican Caucus, his head carried through the streets atop a pike, and his mutilated headless corpse fed to dogs.
Ellmers is seeking contributions to help fight Etheridge’s attempt to steal back the seat he lost.

UPDATE: Welcome, Instapundit readers! And thanks to Joan in Georgia, Stephen in Texas, Charlie in Oregon, Joel in Nebraska, Mike in St. Cloud, and Guy in New York who responded to my earlier appeal for the Shoe Leather Fund.
UPDATE II: Dan Riehl cuts to the bone:
I’ve just gotten word from the RNC, they are supporting her recount effort with $10,000. How many balls does the NRCC have to drop before we realize they aren’t bad jugglers, they’re a bunch of clowns! They didn’t spend a dime to get her elected, blowing it on losing causes in NC. Maybe she didn’t hire the right consultants?
Bingo. Maybe if Ellmers had hired Tandy Harrison . . .

That seat belongs to me and no damn Republican is going to steal it from me. The people need to do what I tell them. So get your damn cameras out of my face or I will choke you.

Pete Sessions knows I will whip his butt if he sticks his nose in this. I am not going down with those losers. I refuse to leave my office.

Thanks for linking this RSM.
I posted on the NCGOP Facebook page a message calling them out. The NC GOP website has NOTHING about this at all.
Someone suggested that the Tea Party will have to take the lead on eliminating voter and election fraud. Neither side seems to have much interest in legitmately dealign with it, and I’m tired of seeing recounts held until the Democrat wins, at which point they stop counting.
The only reason Bush won in 2000 was that SCOTUS stepped in and said enough of the sheningans.

just sent her money. I havn’t given to either nrcc or nrsc in years. I believe it was right around the time of Lincoln chafee and snarlin Arlen. Let’s hope she pulls this oneoff.

Sent her $50 tonight. A phone call goes to my Congressman, Brian Bilbray, tomorrow.

I’m from now-clearly-hopeless California. I threw $250 in Renee’s hat earlier today. As a life long Republican, I’m sick of the GOP. I’m looking for REAL Republicans.

Last go round the GOP overlords decided it was in the party’s strategic interest to reelect Arlen Specter. They sucked the oxygen out of many other campaigns to make that happen. How did that work out for them?
Not too bad really since they kept their jobs.

The “right consultants” is exactly the point. Certain pr groups in DC are wired in to the national party-which gets the PAC money. PAC money rarely goes to individual candidates. The big pr firms get all the ad contracts via their connections. They send out cookie-cutter, one size fits all ad content and the candidate gets screwed. And that’s if they like him or her.
The national party (and many state parties) are simply money machines for the connected few.

I gave to Renee Elmers post-election to the recount. Everyone else should consider it as well. If 10,000 people give her $10 or $20 (more if you can!) she’ll be pretty well funded for the recount!

Who are you?

I need some bourbon to pour over my cereral this morning. Breakfast of champions.
Have you figured out I am not going anywhere. I do not care what some ignorant voters say in North Carolina, I am sticking around.

Stan, and others:
That’s the way to go, nowadays. We can’t trust those inside the beltway anymore. In fact, we need to starve that damnable beast. Donating to the NRCC, letting them pick and choose who to give the money to, creates two problems:
1) Inefficiences; like Union fees, your money goes to groups that may spend it counter to your actual wishes (Dede, anyone?)
2) Those that get the largess are now beholden to the NRCC instead of the people that actually gave them the money.
Cut out the middlemen. Not one thin dime to them. Not. One. Thin. *CENSORED*. *CENSORED*. Dime.

It seems like after every election the NRCC or some other establishment group demonstrates their absolute denseness. I always vote Republican, but I’m not proud of it. I do hope they go the way of the Whig Party and something else takes their place.
