What? You wanted pictures?

In case you just tuned in, you may be wondering what the heck this celebrity news is doing on a political blog. From “How to Get a Million Hits on Your Blog,” Rule 5B:

Even a stone political junkie cannot subsist on a 24/7 diet of politics. The occasional joke, the occasional hot babe, the occasional joke about a hot babe — it’s a safety valve to make sure we don’t become humorless right-wing clones of those Democratic Underground moonbats.

Given how intensely I’ve been blogging about Christine O’Donnell’s Senate race in Delaware, I woke up this morning and said, “You know what? It’s time for some more tawdry celebrity gossip.”

So I went over to the celebrity-news aggregator WeSmirch — where the big headline is “EXCLUSIVE: Lindsay Lohan ‘In Desperate Financial Shape’” — and found this wholesome, cheerful, heart-warming story: Young couple find love, happiness and sex-video cash in the “six-figure range.”

Despite this, the Great Christine O’Donnell Right-Wing Commentator Flame War of 2010 continues raging unabated. The source of the latest flare-up? Allahpundit put up a Hot Air Headline linking to a Dave Weigel story quoting precocious teen pundit Jonathan Krohn:

“It’s clear that she should have been vetted,” said Krohn. . . .
“We know a lot about Mike Castle’s background,” said an exasperated Krohn, “and he was never a witch!”

This inspires Dan Riehl’s fury and, OK, Dan’s basically right: Conservatives don’t need political insight from a 15-year-old wunderkind.

We’re supposed to be trying to win an election here, Election Day is only six weeks away, and this Krohn-to-Weigel-to-Allah pickup is kind of a distraction — perhaps even more distracting than Karissa Shannon’s sex video.

Completely unrelated news: What’s up with Chris Coons and “liberation theology”?

UPDATE: Speaking of celebrity sex videos, there is now video of Al Franken and Christine O’Donnell talking about sex on a 1997 Bill Maher show.

And thanks to commenter Keyboard Jockey for tipping me to the latest sordid news from Gomorrah-on-the-Pacific: 73-year-old Morgan Freeman is now divorced from his second wife, so that he is legally free to marry 27-year-old E’Dina Hines, who is not merely young enough to be his granddaughter, but is in fact his step-granddaughter — i.e., the granddaughter of Freeman’s first wife, although biologically unrelated to Freeman, at least so far as we know.

Remind me of that story the next time I’m tempted to make fun of Don Surber’s West Virginia.

    Fifty-two percent (52%) of Likely U.S. Voters say their own views are closer to Sarah Palin’s than they are to President Obama’s, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.
    Just 40% say their views are closer to the president’s than to those of the former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential candidate.

    Eighty-four percent (84%) of Republicans and 59% of voters not affiliated with either major party say their views are more like Palin’s.

    76% of Republicans and 52% of unaffiliated voters now hold a favorable opinion of Palin.

    HMMMMM..things are looking up wouldn’t you say?

    Pardon me posting this twice, but it is worth it for the links.

    To his credit, Patterico is now directing fire down range. We should encourage him and thank him for that. Cooms is into burgermeister-meisterburger corruption against dissent in Delaware (this sounds like Jersey politics if you ask me). And now apparently Cooms said to Kossacks that they have to defend “Biden’s Seat.” Hmmm, defending a vacated seat, where have I heard that before?

    I can do better, I was watching Imus this morning, and Bernie said that, Morgan Freeman was divorcing his wife of 24 years, his second wife, to marry wait for…. it wait for it, His Step Grand Daughter from his first marriage. Seems like they have been having an affair? for the last 10 years, and he is going to marry her when his divorce is final…so yeah I win, now I have to go take a shower 😉

    Conversely, it can be conclusively proven that Christine O’Donnell does not weigh as much as a duck. Elect her!
