‘Lisa the Loser’? No, Murkowski Wants to Be Known as ‘Lisa the Laughingstock’

Posted on | September 18, 2010 | 19 Comments

The great thing about a write-in campaign is, Alaska’s voters will get to supply the punchline.

Murkowski is not merely out of touch with the voters; she obviously has begun to lose touch with reality.

Begging your K Street lobbyist pals to help you out? Yeah. That’s gonna be real popular with folks in Alaska, I bet.

She has allowed her Palin-hating campaign chairman, John Bitney, and her Palin-hating consultant, Andrew Halcro, to convince her that she should destroy what little dignity she still had left.

What’s the phrase she used in her speech?

“We’re in this together.”

Yeah, that’s it, Lisa: You and your delusional RINO buddies, you’re in this together. I guess you didn’t want to let Charlie Crist run away with the 2010 Laughingstock of the Year Award.

As Professor William Jacobson says, “We have proven our point.”

Mercowsky (hey, spelling counts in Alaska write-ins, so remember to get it right) had the chance to do the statesmanlike thing and unequivocally endorse Miller and offer her help.

Instead, she told Alaska, “You can’t have my seat. My Daddy gave it to me!”

Either way she departs with class. She just picked “low,” that’s all.

McConnell should do more than force her to resign from the leadership. He should convene the caucus the minute the Senate comes back, strip her of all seniority and committee assignments, and announce publicly the Republicans will oppose any appropriation she proposes. OOPS – there went the pork you were promising, Lisa!

You can’t let her keep any benefits of being a Republican when she is running against a fairly elected Republican nominee.

There’s no candidate I want to beat more this cycle than Murkowski. She encapsualtes everything that is wrong with the establishment.

But it is the people’s choice, so if Alaskans really want Alicia McCarthy as their Senator, that’s their business.
