The Governator tried to talk Twitter trash about being unable to see Russia while flying over Alaska, and got beaten down.

In other Sarah news, the Beck visit seems to be a pure 9/11 remembrance. But could Beck have some deeper, proselytizing plot? Will they both convert to the Church of the Subgenius?

    *Sigh* Yes, you really can see Russia from Alaska. I used to have a literary client who was a schoolteacher in Gambell and you could see Russia from his house every day weather permitted. Sarah was right, the Governator is proof that being a Kennedy is a sexually transmitted disease, and he doesn’t know what he is talking about. This is not breaking news.

    I love Sarah Palin. I think she is doing a lot of good for the GOP. I doubt she is ever going to run for President (at least not in 2012) and if she does run she will not get far. But she is promoting conservative candidates, she has a lot of followers she can fire up, and she is good on the stump.

    Arnold’s political career, however, is pretty much shot. Rather than lead he just went along in California. He had the opportunity to be a contender (not for president obviously, but to make a long term postive difference), but he blew it.

    We have two big elections coming up and neither one is going to be easy. 2010 to take back the House and (hopefully) either take back the Senate or greatly diminish the power of the majority there now. Neither outcome is guaranteed, but I am cautiously optimistic.

    If we do win, they have to be conservatives when they get there. Do not do an “Arnold” if you win.

    But more important in the long run is taking back the White House. The long term damage Obama could cause is enormous. Especially if a conservative retires or passes away on the Supreme Court.

    Obama is a dangerous candidate and right now (without a clear challenger) you have to assume he will be re-elected. Now if a truly qualified challenger faces him, he could lose. But do not kid yourself, it is not going to be easy and Obama will probably get 45% of the vote out of the gate. The question is whether he can get that extra 5.01%-6% (adjusted for the electorial college) he needs to win.

    Althouse was floating Mitch Daniels out there as a challenger. Perhaps.

    But I do not think it will be Sarah, Newt, Romney, or Huckabee.

    I see a Reagen-esqe rebound. These are the candidates that I say being competitive in the since that Ronald Reagen was in the 1980’s.
    1. Sarah Palin*
    2. Mitt Rommney
    3. Bobby Jindal
    4. Chris Christie
    5. Meg Whitman

    Basically, in 2012 career politicians/bureaucrats such as John Bolton and Mitch Daniels don’t stand a snowball chance of getting the nomination. 2012 is the year of businessman, not the bureaucrat.

    *Sarah Palin is an unique candidate because she kinda of help start the Tea Party but I don’t know if they’ll translate into votes for her because she lacks business experience.

    Bolton was an aide to Jesse Helms, back in the day, he’s no ordinary bureaucrat, he was one of
    the Standard’s talent counts, that found Sarah
    and brought her to the attention of the GOP

    Ahnald should learn not to write checks with his mouth that his asp can’t cash, but maybe nobody ever explained it to him?

    Yes, he squandered an opportunity to “make a difference” and save Kahlifornja from itself, but it would have required enduring a constant barrage of crap from the left, and he chose instead to play the compromiser and split the difference. Maybe it kept the peace with Maria and the in-laws, but it botched his chance to really give a meaning to his political career.

    If you read Bolton’s book, he also worked for James Baker in Florida in the 2000 recount, as one of the ‘army of lawyers’.
