Piece Of Work In Progress Is On The
Road Again

He’s collecting Road to Damascus moments, when people realized that all or, in my case, some, of their political naivete, and move over to pursuing liberty.

The reference, of course is to Saul meeting the Christ while en route Damascus to persecute Christians.

The sheer number of these Left=>Right conversions might be an indicator that all is not lost.

Of course, the dark side ever beckons.  We should study such reverse conversions to understand why some give up on individual liberty.  Hatred of humanity?  Egomania?  Bad pancakes?

    Religion matters!

    Hugs! We all need hugs.

Professors like this in college pushed me in the correct direction–away from where they were.

Thanks, Smitty, for the link and for sharing your story. Which was, however, about the most boring one so far.

    @Dan,
    OK, I tried again.
Hopefully my new and wholly fictitious story will find favor.
    Cheers,
    Chris

You only think Smitty is boring. I spent about 15 years moving leftward.

At 16 years of age, I was a (literally) card carrying Bircher.

In College, I migrated to Libertarianism, with a fair amount of Anarchy thrown in for seasoning.

By the time I hit 30, I had migrated to a nice valley somewhere between (small “L”, note) libertarianism and Paleo-Conservativism.

I seem to have hit a rock, because I’ve been here 30 years or so now, and I like it just fine.

OTOH, I think that Christianity had a lot to do with it. The more suspicious I became of my own motives about a lot of things, the more cynical I became about everyone else’s. If I know my own failings, and my own Adamic nature, how can I trust a Politician?

    But it works for me.
