Christine O’Donnell Money Bomb!

Posted on | August 9, 2010 | 22 Comments

Got the word via Twitter from Stephen Kruiser:

Go contribute to Christine O’Donnell’s campaign now. Remember that every $10 or $20 helps. This post will be stickied at the top of the page until midnight. Below the fold, two new video interviews with O’Donnell and more.

Robert Costa of National Review interviewed O’Donnell last week:

Of course, I’ve written about the O’Donnell campaign for The American Spectator (“Delaware’s Endangered RINO” and “Charging the Castle”). Last week, the New York Times highlighted Mike Castle as an endangered member of the “Cap and Trade 8” House Republicans who voted for Obama’s energy tax:

Castle of Delaware faces a Sept. 14 primary challenger to finish Biden’s Senate term in Christine O’Donnell, who was endorsed by the Tea Party Express.
Her campaign is warning that Castle could provide the swing vote for a climate bill in November or December, an unlikely scenario in which the Senate takes up a cap-and-trade bill in the lame duck session. The winner of the special election will be seated immediately
“He has already voted for Cap and Tax, and he will do it again,” O’Donnell says on her website.

Byron York of the Washington Examiner recently took a long look at the Delaware Senate race:

There’s no doubt Castle is among the most liberal Republicans on Capitol Hill. In 2008, he received a rating of 28 (out of 100) from the American Conservative Union, while receiving a rating of 65 from the liberal Americans for Democratic Action. Most recently, he co-authored the DISCLOSE Act, which nearly all Republicans opposed. . . .
The state Republican Party is in Castle’s corner; Chairman Tom Ross is openly critical of O’Donnell. But others in the GOP are lining up for her. The Tea Party Express and Concerned Women for America have endorsed O’Donnell, and she’s hoping to get a nod from Republican Sen. Jim DeMint and even Sarah Palin. “In terms of her issues and where she stands, it’s night and day compared to Castle,” says Matt Hoskins, spokesman for DeMint’s PAC. “Sen. DeMint recently met with her and was impressed.”

So there you go: This is a battle between the GOP Establishment which — as with the Dede Scozzafava bungle in NY-23 and the Charlie Crist disaster in Florida — is backing a worthless old RINO in a primary against an appealing young conservative.

As usual, there are allegedly smart people who say that conservatives should back Castle because he can win in November and having a token “R” is better than nothing.

People who say that kind of stuff are . . . well, I’ll bite my tongue, rather than being unnecessarily offensive. Instead, I’ll just ask readers to give what you can for today’s money-bomb, and ask the believers amongst you to remember Delaware in your prayers.

UPDATE: Bob Delaware jumps aboard the O’Donnell bandwagon, and William Collier is fired up about Christine as “The Next Scott Brown.”

O’Donnell was on Bill Bennett’s “Morning in America” radio show today, and at Delaware’s WDEL-AM the big question today is: Why won’t Mike Castle debate Christine O’Donnell?

Being one of those who believes that a token “R” in Delaware (in Del. a. ware.) is better than losing…wonders, sure, nominating a ‘real’ conservative would be much better than Castle, even if we lose by a small or moderate margin. But, she has run before (a few times) with a very…unsettling…track record.

…so I wonder, is she electable? Not as a conservative too-much-to-the-right, but as a personality?

Don’t be obtuse. Any time someone gets into a debate about electability, personality or otherwise, what they’re really saying is “i’m afraid of the leftist attack dogs”. Ted Kennedy was by all accounts a repugnant human being. Nancy Pelosi is a frightening and entitled shrew. Harry Reid is a condescending snob. John McCain, supposedly the great electable maverick, turned out to be an aging crank. Dont vote based on electability. Vote based on policy. People conflate popular vote with popularity contest. As Ann Coulter says, if we vote for someone electable, we’re in fact voting for someone liberals know they can beat.

John S says, “Is she electable?” Hell yeah!!!!!!

Here’s what Steve Maloney has to say: “In 2008, against Joe Biden, who spent $5 million, Christine got 140,509 votes, 35,000 more than anyone had polled against Biden. Can she get 20,000 to win the GOP Primary? I believe she will get as many as 24,000. We are reaching out to every Delaware voter and not just Republicans, although they’re the key to 9/14”.

All she needs is 20,000 votes!! Is it not a miracle or a long shot. Christine can win this thing….check out my daily blogs on the case for Christine O’Donnell

All she needs is 20,000 votes to win the primary. It’s not a long shot and she is worth the vote. She is a very viable candidate and likely to win the general election.
