Predictably, Judge Blocks Common-Sense Law Favored by 70% of Arizona Voters

A federal judge has blocked one of the most controversial sections of a tough Arizona immigration law, granting a preliminary injunction Wednesday that prevents police from questioning people about their immigration status.
That provision required police to “make a reasonable attempt to determine the immigration status of a person stopped, detained or arrested” if the officer has a reasonable suspicion that the person is in the United States illegally.
U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton’s ruling, in response to a motion filed by the federal government, came with scant hours to go before the law goes into effect.
She also blocked provisions of the law making it a crime to fail to apply for or carry alien registration papers or “for an unauthorized alien to solicit, apply for, or perform work,” and a provision “authorizing the warrantless arrest of a person” if there is reason to believe that person might be subject to deportation.
Professor William Jacobson has a legal analysis, but the key point is that the interests of Arizona’s citizens (70% of whom favored the law) and the actions of Arizona legislators count for nothing in the 21st-century American regime, which is a de facto oligarchy where federal judges exercise unlimited authority. The interests of the elites who benefit from unrestricted immigration are the only interests that count. When Judge Susan Bolton was appointed by Bill Clinton 10 years ago, it was with the implicit understanding that Bolton would never thwart the interests of the Ruling Class.

We live in an upside-down world, Stacy. Nevermind all that you thought the Founders were writing about back in 1789—the Federals are King.

When a judge makes a decision that is not based in constitutional law, it pushes the country to anarchy. Bolton is doing her best to make that a possibility. She is another painful consequence of having Hilliary as co-President.

Thank you John McCain.
Thank you Lindsey Graham
Thank you Gang of Fourteen.
While the Dems have been turning the judiciary into a private arm of their party, you have been keeping things civil in the Capitol cafeteria.
Well done, assholes.

“Oligarchy of federal judges” is right and unfortunately it goes back to John Marshall. I looked the guy up on Wikipedia and it turns out both he and his father were clients of Lord Fairfax, which I think explains his dedication to rule by the elite. And of course there’s Roger Taney, who started the civil war all by himself by refusing to let people in the territories vote against slavery.

What an interesting discovery! Federal courts assert their primacy? Ever hear of Marbury v Madison, or is it your contention that’s when the conspiracy began? Were the Illuminati involved?
So, elections do matter, don’t they? Conservatives desert GHWB for his apostasy and Bill Clinton is elected and appoints Susan Bolton. Conservatives desert McCain and Obama is elected and appoints Eric Holder.
If my esteemed fellow conservatives would only stop acting like petulant brats who take their ball and run home every time something doesn’t go their way, perhaps we would elect more right-of-center officials who would in turn make better appointments.

Sadly, not a surprise.
It’s been nearly a decade since a Federal Judge ruled that a federal regulation trumps the State of Idaho’s Constitution.
Few people outside the state cared.

Common sense immigration law should be examined with the same critical eye that we use to examine common sense gun law.

It’s time for the states to go into outright revolt. The federal government has broken the social contract, and the states are under no moral obligation to follow it any longer.

He who pays the piper calls the tunes. Remember who appointed her? Could there have been any other outcome?
Please keep in mind. These “people” are no longer judges, not in a true sense of the word anyways. They have, over time, become political entities, advocating the agenda of them that appoints… not what’s law.
Calling attention to Sotomeyer’s background will label you a racist even though it was her that said Latino women are basically smarter than white men. Guess who she’ll support in an “open borders” case?
Guess who Kagan will support in a GTLB case?
It just bees that way. No Constitution, no God, no individual rights, no states rights, just Big Government, NWO driven agenda.
I will say one thing for Kagan. She had the good taste to avoid saying gay women are smarter than straight men.
Gotta give credit when credit’s due.
