Christine O’Donnell: RINO Killer

Posted on | June 10, 2010 | 43 Comments

Every conservative says they hates RINOs. How do you stop two-faced backstabbers like Arlen Specter and Charlie Crist from taking over the GOP and giving voters a choice between a liberal Democrat and a liberal Republican?

What you need is a RINO killer, and they’ve got one in Delaware named Christine O’Donnell. She’s taking on the GOP establishment’s hand-picked RINO choice, Mike Castle. She was recently interviewed at Red State:

This is a fight for the heart and soul of not only the Country but the Republican party as well. We’re fighting against the worst “Republican” in recent memory. He has sided with the Democrats 70% of the time, and gets a failing grade from a host of organizations including the NRA, CFG, and many others. Are we really satisfied with a liberal politician solely because he has an “R” after his name? I don’t think so. And, to take him out, we need to come together, get out the message, get people to the polls, and get the donations we’ll need to cross the state of Delaware to educate people on what is really at stake in this race.

Smitty blogged about Christine O’Donnell in March. Da Tech Guy was impressed and  Bob Belvedere issued a “Major Babe Alert.”

It’s three months until the September primary, and this lady could make a huge difference. The problem is that Mike Castle has big RINO money, and the O’Donnell campaign doesn’t. The answer?

MONEY BOMB!

She’s halfway to her $10,000 goal. If all you can give is $10 or $20, give it now. Every little bit helps.

RINO-KILLER MONEY BOMB!

Do it. Do it now.

    Castle’s poll numbers.

Christine is a quality candidate who is facing a long shot race. Still, her candiacy matters if only to get Castle to move a bit to the right. And you never know, she might be able to win this thing.

Nobody’s going to call Castle a conservative with his 53% lifetime ACU rating, but he is a virtual lock to take the seat in the general. When was the last time Delaware elected a “conservative Senator?” Bill Roth served 30 years and was an author of the Reagan tax cuts and the “Roth IRA” and “Roth 401(k)” but he also voted for the Brady bill.

Polls have shown Castle around 20 points ahead all year, this is a sure pick-up – UNLESS ideological purity is more important than actual seats.

Use your own judgment, or lack thereof.

This is what happens when you nominate the wrong candidate… They had a chance to take this seat and likely gave it back to the Dems.

We need republican seats to gain control of the Senate. If that means RINOs over Democrats, that is called being intelligent. If however you can replace a RINO with a conservative who can win the general do so.

But recognize Republicans have to gain control of House and Senate (especially when there is any chance Obama might win a second term).

Ms. O’Donnell is not likely to beat Castle, but if she runs a strong race she will move him to the right. And in the unlikely chance she prevails against him in Delaware, she might have the momentum to go all the way.

You guys are making the WRONG arguments. Let’s start with this: The GOP is not — repeat NOT — going to take back the Senate in 2012. John Cornyn has a magic ability to pick losers, including Charlie Crist and Sue Lowden.

However, even if they could take back the Senate this year, the value of electing Mike Castle . . .?

This is a perfect opportunity, in other words, to put a torpedo up the tailpipe of Cornyn and the NRSC. An O’Donnell victory in the September primary would make headlines — underdog upset! the Year of the Republican Woman! — and she might actually stand a better chance in the general than would Castle.

But screwing over John Cornyn is the key opportunity here. The GOP is never going to get its act together with “leadership” like NRSC’s Cornyn and NRCC’s Pete Sessions. Support for O’Donnell means Hope for Change.

The difference between deliberately electing a RINO because they may or not be a sure bet against the Social Democratic candidate is having the courage of our convictions. There is more honor in having to compromise with our foes than buy those who are supposed to be our allies. It’s also been proven to be cheaper. Having 45 conservative Senators and ten RINOs is no better than having 45 conservatives and 55 Social Democrats. That a RINO is sure pickup is a pyrrhic victory while the Right could afford a couple such victories more than four or five seem the same as defeat to me. We must think in longer terms than just the next two elections. The goal is not merely to recapture majorities. The goal is to crush the left, utterly eliminating their relevance to social, cultural and political life in this country, indeed on this planet. We must dare to be great any lesser goal is unworthy of humanity.

Adobe-“We must think in longer terms than just the next two elections.”

The time for that is past. In prior years, we may have had that luxury. Unfortunately, the damage that has been done to this country in the past year and a half may already be irreversible, but if it isn’t, we do NOT have the next half dozen election cycles to get around to reversing it. We can not afford to wait 10 years to reverse course. If we do, there will be no America in 25 years or less. If we do not retake at least 1 house this cycle, the chances of there not being an America in 25 years is about 90%. If we retake only 1 house, chance of America meeting its end within 25 years goes down to 75%. If we somehow miraculously retake both houses, our chances of survival as a nation go up to about 50-50. Most likely, this cycle is our last chance for this country – we’ve screwed around too long already.

I’m probably being too optimistic here.

Stacy, I agree with you about not taking the Senate. Here in CA the nomination of the NRSC’s pick Fiorina pretty much guarantees Boxer’d re-election.

But the NRSC and CA GOP have done worse and stupider this last primary. I’m writing it up now.

As Stacy wrote we are not going to retake the Senate in 2010. The only scenarios envisioning retaking the Senate involve an unacceptable number of RINOs. This is worse than remaining in the minority. We should retake the House but in doing so some mistakes will occur IE: some squishy RINOs will sneak in. These errors can be corrected in two years, mistakes made in selecting Senators take six years to correct. If the Republicans retake the legislature they will be expected to produce results. Without sufficiently conservative Representatives and Senators the politicals will start compromising with the Bolsheviks and our hopes and dreams will be for naught. While the damage done to our country accelerated drastically since 08 it has been going on for a century. Throwing RINOs at the Government is not a viable solution and is no more valid a political strategy than Keynesian theory is a viable economic strategy. Abandoning our principals attempting win is why we keep losing.

Mike Castle voted for Pelosi’s toxic version of the Stimulus bill; he voted for TARP, the Wall Street bank bailout; he voted for Cap-and-trade; his lifetime rating by the NRA is F, and his rating by pro-life groups is D-minus. Yet we have people claiming Republicans, Independents, and conservative Democrats should ignore his voting record and send him to the Senate? If you go to http://www.removerinos.com, you’ll see Castle listed as the ace-of-spades among RINOs, ahead of Snowe and Collins. Castle is a lot like his good friend, Arlen Specter, the “Republican” most likely to become a Democrat. Christine O’Donnell is a principled Christian conservative; she’s by far the best choice for the US Senate from Delaware. The fact that Castle is engaging in a never-ending smear campaign shows he’s scared. He should be.

On a pragmatic note: the value to our current minority in both the House and the Senate is that it’s all the Democrat’s fault. All of it. 100%. They own every disaster from 2009 to January 2011 (if not longer). They have such commanding majorities that they can’t even accuse us of being obstructionists.

America is getting a front-row seat to the true meaning of liberalism, and I’m not about to spoil their view by throwing a few RINOs into the arena.

Now, onto principle: the RNC needs to know that they are accountable to us. Every Republican in Washington needs to understand that they were complacent in creating the situation that allowed for Barack Obama to take office. Since they did precious little to institute free-market health care reforms, we now have socialised medicine. Since they did little to advocate for free-market environmentalism, we’re almost stuck with cap-and-tax. Since they spent the last decade fiddling about, most of the country hates Republicans and thinks that the conservative movement is useless.

What we need to do is to provide a clear alternative to the Obama Administration: principled, energetic candidates who are not going to be content to go along with the usual Washington way. As a matter of principle, and of winning elections, we need candidates who have a clear vision for America’s greatness.
