Just Got Off the Phone With a Staffer for Tim Burns’ PA12 Congressional Campaign

The staffer promised to call back with a schedule of the candidate’s events for Thursday and Friday. Burns is the Republican who’s running in the special election for Jack Murtha’s seat. Here’s video of Burns on Sean Hannity’s show last night:
The primary is three weeks from today and the Burns campaign HQ is in Washington, Pennsylvania, about a three-hour drive from my house. Figure a 400-mile round trip at 20 cents per mile, $80, plus a couple of packs of smokes (2 x $5 = $10), and a couple of cheeseburger value meals (2 x $5 = $10), and I can make the trip for $100 in the Shoe Leather Fund.
While I’m up there, perhaps I can see how the “Republicans for Specter” operation is working out. Wednesday is the one-year anniversary of the geriatric crapweasel’s party-switch. Celebrate with a gift to Pat Toomey.
UPDATE: PA12 is a sprawling gerrymandered monstrosity:
Not as big as NY23, perhaps, but you can look at the spider shape of it and see that Burns has got his work cut out for him campaigning in all those scattered places.
UPDATE II: There is a candidate forum in Johnstown at 7 p.m. Wednesday — which also happens to be the 21st anniversary of my marriage to Mrs. Other McCain. I’m thinking a little extra in the tip jar might help make sure I survive for our 22nd anniversary.

This man is gonna pull off a Pennsylvania Miracle a la Scott Brown. I blogged and twittered and phone banked my heart out for Scott and have been following my twitterpal Angela Lash’s lead pushing his candidacy on Twitter and at my blog of late:
Tim Burns: “These Democrats are not afraid to vote for the candidate, not the party”

Tim Burns of Murtha district buoyed by an electorate “exceptionally sour on national Democrats”

Sarah Palin likes the cut of Tim Burns’s business suit

You are going to love Western PA, its beautiful out here. And things are hopping over at the Burns campaign. Spen this evening talking with Conservative Dems on the phone, most of them are breaking for Burns.
BTW, it was the Republicans who drew this District. Carved out for Murtha so they could have GOP Dsits on either side of it.
