PHOENIX, Arizona — There are two kinds of Republicans: Starbucks Republicans and . . .

J.D. HAYWORTH FOR U.S. SENATE

UPDATE: And I’d like to add a thank-you to Peter in Scottsdale, Ariz., for his tip-jar contribution to the Other McCain campaign.

So long as Hayworth can win the general, okay. I have no problem with a more conservative candidate taking out a less conservative candidate. But Hayworth has a bunch of baggage of his own. I am not sure he is the best candidate to take over from McCain…

and I do not care for Starbucks. I make my own coffee at home.

It’s a Republican state and 2010 certainly looks like a Republican year. The Democrats do not yet have a candidate, and certainly not a candidate with as much name recognition as Hayworth will have if he upsets the GOP’s 2008 presidential nominee in August.

Arizona is a Republican State that gave us Barry Goldwater…but it also gave us Janet Napolitano.

Have been a Republican all my life. I am now 68 years. This country is in deep trouble, and to my belief as long as McCain has been in Washington he is to a great extent a lot of the problems we have. McCain is for sure a progressive. I sure don’t consider him to be main stream GOP. He should be voted out of office for sure. I cannot believe Sara Palen is supporting this guy. I have lost the respect i had for Palen. Hope she stays in Alaska. Joe

The good folks in Arazona should remember, John McCain and Ted Kennedy, along with George Bush wanted to leagize the people that stole their way into this country. Joe

    Joe Barger:

I am not sure if you are a real Republican or some Democratic sock puppet troll (given most real Republicans can spell Sarah Palin’s name and the State of Arizona). You seem more of a product of the current failed public school system, or perhaps a watcher of Bill Maher’s show. But let me address your real or not so real concerns:

I do not consider Mexicans coming here to work illegally John Dilligers when the entire system is **wink wink** come here and do cheap manual labor in our homes, our farms, our drywall and roofing companies, our meat packing plants, our hotels, our restaurants, etc. and etc. so they can save up a bundle to bring back to Mexico. If you and I were Mexican, we would probably do the same thing. The problem is the system that allows this nonsense.

You have anger at McCain and Bush. Fine. So do I (for beytraying conservative principals). I just do not want to flip a Senate seat to the Democrats given the even greater damage being done by Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and the Democrats right now. Provided you can get Hayworth elected in the general, go for it.

I agree amnesty is a bad idea. But the hypocrisy is that the entire U.S. government, both parties included, support this nonsense and have so since Carter and Reagan. It has to end. And it has to end with the realization that legal immigration is not bad–provided it is with the goal of citizenship and assimilation. Latinos are natural conservatives–we should be selling that to them. It is the illegal uncontrolled system of immigration we have now that is the problem and has to end.

And the side effect of all of this hypocrisy is that the narco trafficers and other felon criminals swim like sharks in all this background border crossing. Do you really want to end illegal immigration? Start with fining employers who hire them–just high enough so they stop hiring illegals. If Mexicans can’t work here, they will go home and stop coming.

Who cares about the spelling, not me, have been a true conservative for 40 years. The only time Mccain is a true GOP conservative is when he wants the people to send him back for 6 more. If the people want a change, well you can’t get it by sending the same people back that got this country in this condition. McCain is a progressive. The people should see him for what he really is. I sure would not vote for this flip flop jerk. Sure hope JD gets that seat.
