On The Value Of Flogging Senator McCain

This is not a defense of the gentleman, fellow IFNAG (Idiot Frickin’ Naval Academy Graduate) though he may be.
In seeing the country’s arc as sinusoidal, I’m not sure that we’d have been better in the long run with a JSM administration.
It’s all counter-factual now, but I submit that with a President McCain, we’d still be asleep at the switch. Progressivism would continue to leech away at Federalism slowly. The Democrats would have peddled their crypto-Marxism to still more people.
Hopium and Change-eeba have been the Tet Offensive for the would-be aristocrats and their Utopian tools in the Judas Congress.
People still say I’m talking out the stern gate on an Article 5 cram-down, but I don’t see what less than that can return the country’s arc to a positive slope.
The pachyderm on the patio is that DC holds all of the cash. To be politically tenable, whatever you do to give entitlement programs the fax machine treatment
can’t threaten those over whatever arbitrary age you care to name, say 50.
Financial reform is foundational to the package of reforms that restores sanity and exceptionalism to American government. Everyone except our North Dakota readers needs to be pinging their State capitol for a bank to look after their own citizens.
Until that evil Federal Reserve is decommissioned, or at least audited, Progressives like Senator McCain will know that the hue and cry of the Tea Parties has no substantial legs, because of the unholy reverse cash flow from DC to State and local governments. You either tell me what you’re doing to un-frobnicate this situation, or Nancy “Iscariot” Pelosi will just keep on smilin’. In the uncomfortable listening department, you’ll become familiar with an old Nine Inch Nails cut:

Slave screams he thinks he knows what he wants
Slave screams thinks he has something to say
Slave screams he hears but doesn’t want to listen
Slave screams he’s being beat into submission
Don’t open your eyes you won’t like what you see
The devils of truth steal the souls of the free
Don’t open your eyes take it from me
I have found
You can find
Happiness in slavery
Slave screams he spends his life learning conformity
Slave screams he claims he has his own identity
Slave screams he’s going to cause the system to fall
Slave screams but he’s glad to be chained to that wall
Don’t open your eyes you won’t like what you see
The blind have been blessed with security
Don’t open your eyes take it from me
I have found
You can find
Happiness in slavery
I don’t know what I am I don’t know where I’ve been
Human junk just words and so much skin
Stick my hands through the cage of this endless routine
Just some flesh caught in this big broken machine

    Smitty,

Not being familiar with Naval technical vernacular, I was wondering if an IFNAG was similar to the Army’s DASL (Dumb Ass Second Lieutenant)?

I have marginally more use for John McCain than I do for Barack H. Obama, but only marginally.

I am firmly of the opinion that he should retire on his laurels (Fully deserved, regarding his Military Service), and quit trying to be a Politician. He sucks, that way.

Regarding the Fed, I’m sincerely down with auditing it, but before we eliminate it, tell me what we are going to do for money, please.

I curse every FRN that I use. But unless you have a better idea that won’t wind us up in a huger depression than we are already headed for, I’d prefer to avoid a total financial collapse.

I never hear anyone talk about that part, for some reason. Gold Standard? Heh. There ain’t enough gold in the world to keep us out of the stone age, even if most of it weren’t counterfeit anyway.

    Good Luck!

    @jefferson101,
The 14 trillion in debt, and the opaque, unelected Federal Reserve overlords are intolerable. I say banks for all 50 states. The Federal Reserve can still serve the territories, but its bogosity must go. It has enabled the debasement of the Constitution. Read “End the Fed” by Ron Paul.

I’m still not convinced Hayworth is a good candidate, but if he can win the general then send Jimmy Mac out to pasture. But the old guy for all his faults is still a hero. I do not care for McCain Finegold at all, and thank God McCain’s immigration reform plan went down. If it makes you happy, beat him like a pinata over his progressive tendencies, but McCain (at least right now) is not the problem.

I am much more concerned with getting rid of Lindsay Graham, who is in a State that should stay red and should be let go when his time comes. We need to focus on taking vulnerable Democratic Senate seats (we actually have a decent chance of taking California, Washington (if Rossi runs), Pennsylvania, Arkansas, etc.). The key is the right challenger for the state.

McCain is not much of a hero. He was known for his frequent crashes and laclk of flying ability. Many blame him for the burning of the Forrestal, resulting in the death of 164 US sailors. If he had not been the son of an Admiral he would have been relieved of his duties and dishonorably discharged long before he got to Vietnam.

It was a tough decision. McCain’s election would have negated the GOP as a voice against statism. One of the prerogatives of the office holder is to basically put his Party Chairman place. Steve Schmidt RNC Chairman?

However, a weakened GOP may have been worth it in terms of what Obama’s doing to the country. It would be far easier to repair the GOP than the country.

Certainly, it is better that Obama, rather than McCain, is President.

After all, McCain wouldn’t have pushed through Health Care (Insurance) reform.

He wouldn’t have taken control of 2/3rd of the Auto Industry.

He wouldn’t have taken over the Student Loan Industry.

He wouldn’t have taken over the Financial Sector.

He wouldn’t raise capital gains taxes.

He wouldn’t raise personal income taxes.

He wouldn’t appoint liberal, activist Judges and Justices, instead, selecting strict constructionists.

He wouldn’t have supported this Cap & Trade bill.

Yeah…the Big O is sooooooooo much better than that “liberal” McCain.

It really IS better to have a President who actually DOES take over the country and hand it to the socialists than one who wouldn’t — and, in the process, would have appointed strict constructionist Justices.

Yep. I’m so happy that the Big O was elected — just so we can see what happens when a liberal is elected.

Oh, wait. I already knew that.

That’s why I voted for McCain.

Regarding the musical choice: given recent events we could have also chosen Tool’s “Head Like A Hole”. I can see O’s lips moving clearly as this rolls over the TOTUS:

“…bow down before the one you serve, you’re gonna get what you deserve…”

Huey’s post does drive home a different angle to the discussion. Would McCain have been a better keeper of the status quo? Absolutely. But in that regard, the status quo was/is broken and in need of care.

There is a reason many farmers burn their fields after a crop – to destroy unhealthy remnants and to prepare for the growth of something spectacular. In this regard, Obama is the one holding the torch, and the fields are pretty much smoldering.

What I fear now is what will grow from the scorched earth. Remember that scorched earth plan was also used by a guy in Europe about 70 years ago.

His name was Hitler. That didn’t work out so well.
