Ace has the voting schedule for tomorrow, as relayed by CBS.
Summary: the excrement is scheduled to arrive in the vicinity of the air circulator at 1815. If it goes off as scheduled, we move on to the the next stage of tactical resistance. Too many people have paid too great a price for too long a time for us to meet them in the afterlife and say, ‘Well, we just got bored, see . . .’
Via email, Americans for Prosperity pegs the attendance today at 30k+. I think that’s relatively more accurate than one blog which was trying to push a six figure estimate. Here was my quick pan of the crowd, ~1230:

Kudos to all of the organizers and attendees, especially those who sacrificed more than Metro fare to attend. It is likely a reasonable assertion that, had this demonstration not occurred, the Wicked Witch of the West would have deemed this legislative abortion into a shambling, country-wrecking existence.

Need to Improve

Getting my act together in time for the Tax Day protest will be crucial. First of all, my Nokia97, which is a great phone, isn’t up to the rigors of trying to blog an event live. No data connection was possible, likely due to the number of people Tweeting the protest. Also, its camera, while OK, really needs a better operator. Batteries and bandwidth are other problems. Then there is giving good interview. Finally, stamina: after working in a windowless place all winter, I was thrashed by the time the event was done. However, I’d made some signs (click for high-res, revealing pencil markings):

This sign shot. I didn’t take too many of these, as the battery seemed to die rapidly on my phone, (does it take more power to operate in a high phone concentration like a protest?) but this one makes a point. Process matters.
If the President is telling you he doesn’t care about the procedure, as in the sign below the Gadsden flag here, you need to play the WTF card on the spot. Process is to government as safety interlocks are on equipment. Saying the process doesn’t matter is like saying the little gas nozzle piece that stops pumping when the tank is full doesn’t matter. We need neither tyranny nor flammable liquid all over the side of the car, Mr. President. Thank you for your interest in the Constitution, sirrah.

    Thank you for fighting back on this and going to DC. I hope we can stop this. The key is members of waiversing congresspersons’ districts. They will ignore us out of staters, but not their own people.

    They cannot rationally think that they can undertake this sort of legislation on a razor-thin vote margin. Anything less than a substantial margin constitutes a loss.
    Of course, I could have stopped this reply at the first four words.

    The digital cameras have become so small and inexpensive I would suggest getting one. Set up a fund, many of us would contribute.
