Professor Is Denied Tenure, Opens Fire in University Faculty Meeting, 3 Dead

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) – Police said a female member of the UA-Huntsville faculty shot and killed three co-workers on campus.
Sources close to the investigation identify the suspect as Dr. Amy Bishop.
Police also have the alleged shooter’s husband in custody. He has not been formally charged with anything.
University spokesman Ray Garner said the three killed were G. K. Podila, the chairman of the Department of Biological Sciences, and two associates, Maria Ragland Davis and Adriel Johnson. . . .
Authorities said Bishop, during a Biology faculty meeting, learned she would not receive tenure. She then pulled out a gun and started shooting.
Wow. Denied tenure = murder rampage? There’s more from the New York Times:
“She began to talk about her problems getting tenure in a very forceful and animated way, saying it was unfair,” the associate said, referring to a conversation in which she blamed specific colleagues for her problems.
“She seemed to be one of these persons who was just very open with her feelings,” he said. “A very smart, intense person who had a variety of opinions on issues.”
Obviously, I’m expected to add some snark here, but there’s three people dead and so I’m not feeling particularly snarky.

Leave the snarky to me. I’ve seen plenty of death and there is one thing for sure, it is unavoidable.
I wonder how the MSM will handle this; 1. If the teacher is black. 2. A liberal. 3. White and a conservative. 4. God help us if she was a tea party member! Or if they can’t find the angle that will excuse the liberal or indict the conservative, they’ll ignore it in exchange for another story about how global warming caused the flurry of violent snow storms.

Here a two interesting quotes;
Neuroscience essentially turns into a bioethics class. She’s a liberal from “Hahvahd” and let’s you know exactly how she feels about particular subjects. Class is a breeze, but you’ll have to put a bit of concentrated effort into a few things.
I am in her lab and her class. She is smart, talks about more stuff than just the book. She lets me sit in her office and study. She always dresses nice. She should stop trying to straighten her hair and go natural!
(hmmm… straighten her hair and go natural… I wonder if they mean… Maybe why the MSM is not telling the whole story. What a woman from Harvard pulls a GUN!!! and kills people! Could it be that you just can’t trust those Haaarvard folks with any power?)
We’ll see.

I’m so sorry for the families of those who have passed away. What you never expect on most college campuses is for people to wind up dead from violent crime – they are usually extraordinarily safe places.
I’ll save the snark for when the media spins this, and will snark at them.

It was a damned teacher who was pissed because she wasn’t going to get a freaking union job.
Don’t blame the damned guns. Blame the freaking unions. They are the one’s that caused this crap.
Yes, I know, I said that, proud of it too.

So a progressive intellectual denied a lifetime sinecure erupts in violence.
It’s practically a parable.

Or Richard, a better story…
Guns do keep us safer. Three more Southerners dead — one sent to jail.
This story just gives and gives.

And Richard, since I know my snarkiness is often lost on people, that was satirical snark at its worst. Certainly, no one should be killed, IMO. It’s a shame that I feel I need to add this disclaimer.
